After two weeks of fruitless attempts to contact other shops without a single reply, I was panicking a little bit since my friend's birthday was coming in 2 DAYS!! Then luckily, I stumbled upon Tia Bakery by chance - it felt like a miracle! Even though I'm from the USA, Tia made the whole process incredibly easy and stress-free. She was amazing, understanding my vision perfectly and creating a cake that was exactly what I wanted. This bakery, while very plain and ordinary looking, is quite fantastic. All the bread, buns, cookies, pies, and brownies are freshly prepared here. You can also purchase things like meat pies, gelato, pop, soup, local honeycomb, and helium balloons. They typically have a lunch special during the week. I recently had their squash soup with carrots and red pepper and it was so delightfully good. I've seen options such as meat pies, sausage rolls, and sausage on a bun as well. My personal favourite is their triple chocolate brownie with milk, dark, and white chocolate chunks on top. They have various other brownies, squares, and goodies for purchase as well. You can buy one brownie, or a whole pan, whatever suits your needs. Their prices are very inexpensive for what you get. A huge brownie costs $0.75, and a large bowl of soup and a bun is $2.75. Keep in mind the next time you visit, they only accept cash and Canadian Tire money (which really comes in handy when you need your next sugar fix and you forget your wallet at home). Discovered Scotion Isle Baked Goods and communicated with a gentleman named Joe there. He was extremely helpful in answering all my questions and gave me the time to try and work out pickup . Made arrangements with my son and daughter in law for pickup for before Christmas as I do not live in London. From start to finish the whole experience went so smoothly and the final result is that when my husband tried one of the 6 pies I ordered he was thrilled. Upon first glance, this place seems like a simple little bakery, nothing too special. However, they do have something pretty cool cooking up in store! Have you tried a bagel bomb!? No? Well it's essentially bagel dough wrapped around awesome filing to make a little ball of goodness! My friend and I both purchased a pizza bagel bomb. The girl at the counter was happy to explain all the different varieties but we couldnt resist the cheese, sauce, and meat that was waiting inside this thing. She heat it up for a little bit and also prepared us some wonderful Angry Alpaca tea (if you haven't tried this stuff yet, do yourself a favour and get some. It's local tea and it tastes AMAZING!). I loved the flavour of the pizza bagel bomb. They put some nice spices on top and the fillings weren't your typical mozzarella and pepperoni. I believe capicola and provolone as well? It was the perfect little pick me up since we didnt want a big lunch. The bakery was consistently busy! There was always someone at the counter but the service is quick. The coffee, locally roasted is absoutley fantastic and only pales if you dare compare it to the freshly made baked goods: cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cakes pies ... the list goes on. They all look and taste amazing! They also have breakfast, sandwiches, soups and all kinds of entrées. While it is often overlooked from the outside it is cozy and wonderful once you enter. A lending library, board games and locally made products like coffee and honey await you inside. I'm actually leaving myself another mental note to return shortly - let's see if this one sticks.
