Another fantastic appointment at Dr McCormicks office in The Pt Pleasant office. I've been going for years and alway get 5 star care. Kristen is amazing and has been helping me with everything from cancer issues to freezing sun spots and Each and every checkup. All the techs are wonderful and today Maggie did an incredible job taking out my stitches from my Moses surgery. I also love all the girls at the front desk and Theresa is amazing. She alway calls me back if there is a cancelation and also calls to confirm my appointments. Super friendly like Family. I can't say enough about this Dermatologist office. I give them 10 stars. I have been seeing Doctor McCormack since 1997. I was AD (now retired) US Coast Guard, and I went to her for poison ivy. As soon as she saw me, she said yeah that's poison ivy..."But what's that by your eye". She pointed out skin cancer and now over 10+ Mohs procedures latter.... I will stand by her, her PAs, her office crew. Ok you may have to wait a little but show me a doctor who rushes you out and I'll show you a doctor who doesn't care. The staff is poorly trained. First issue is that the office requires cash only payments if you are self-pay. Unfortunately, the staff does not keep good books. Staff could not find my payment records and accused me of trying to get "free laser treatments" (in front of all the other patients!), even though I had a payment credit and receipts to prove it. To be fair, a PA apologized for the "mix up." Nevertheless, it was a pretty uncomfortable experience for me. I can't help but wonder if they would accuse non-minority patients of trying to get "free treatments." Second issue is the lack of privacy. Staff demands to know what health issues you have in the open waiting room (in front of other patients), because they can't track down my charts (every single time I go!). It is embarrassing. Not sure why I keep going. The doctor and PAs are nice, but the staff is a nightmare. read more

They will always give you an excuse as to why it happened but it never changes I am looking for a new dermatologist and will recommend everybody I know and my family to do the same read more

Unfortunately not Happy with this practice. TERRIBLE wait too see dr. Very disrespectful to have a patient sit in lobby for over a 1hr or more everytime. Very upset that my wife had Basal Cancer cell removal from her head. Upon completion she left with instructions to take Tylenol. The incision was over 4 ¹/² inches long and 14 stitches. I called the office the next day because my wife had PAIN ALL NIGHT and couldn't sleep she was instructed to come to office the next day. They refused to proscribe PAIN MANAGEMENT MEDICATION. I'm currently sitting in a doctors room because a doctor is coming to see me - that was 30 mins ago. This is exactly what you get every time I come here, I even called before I came today. I hear all of the associates joking and talking about non work stuff on their phones and I watched the girl at the front desk ignore an elderly man as if he knew he didn't need to ask any other questions-- BC THERES NO TRANSPARENCY or regard for patient. My experiences at Dr. McCormack's Point Pleasant, NJ office have been nothing but positive. I usually see P.A. Jason Staback, who is not only knowledgable, but has a kind bedside manner as well. I have had everything from an infected cyst to acne treated with great success. Jason is an expert in regard to Aerolase laser treatment, which has made all the difference in clearing up my acne. My husband also is happy with Jason's care, having had a small mole removed and biopsied last year. We are grateful to have such expert care right here at the Jersey Shore. read more

Can I give no stars? Seriously. For $150, I got maybe 20 minutes and the nurse practitioner (NP) basically told me to keep doing exactly what I was already doing. The reason I came to them was because what I have been doing for care, is no longer working. I repeated that twice. It was as if I said NOTHING. I informed her that I had been using a specific type of medication that I really wanted to move away from - she prescribes me more of the same thing, different brand - much more expensive. *eyeroll (They were nice enough to give me a ton of samples- I will say that.) I made it very clear on my paperwork that I was coming in with 2 seperate issues. The second issue was barely glazed over. Not a more than a 1 minute was spent, before the NP and the assistant ran out of the room. I feel like because I was a cash patient, I didn't matter. When I walk out the door it's like I was never there. At least with insurance there is a level of accountability. They didn't help me one iota and they got away with $150 of - to be frank - rather hard earned money! I got robbed. I went home crying and feeling taken advantage of. I wish the NP would have been honest and maybe said "Hey, your already doing what you should, I cant help you further, I'm sorry. Please go to the front desk and get a refund." Lowest-rated dermatologist on this site within a wide radius, and does not seem to alter her business practices despite the feedback. Wait times are ridiculously long, which speaks to the lack of regard for patient's time. When a doctor overbooks and leaves you waiting for hours, they only see dollar signs. Office staff ignores you.. It must be nice to be such a success that you can treat patients like cattle and collect the insurance monies.... After waiting weeks for an appointment and then only because I was willing to settle for a PA not the doctor... they removed two blemishes. Horrible overall experience. I had a small cyst removed in December. The doctor did not numb area enough and I felt the incision being made along with pulling of skin cyst. He numbed more, but still felt pain. I was able to feel three of six stitches. Extremely painful procedure and his lack of concern for the level of PAIN, not discomfort, was alarming. His professionalism was the worst I have ever seen. That lack of cleanness was my biggest concern. The next person on that table would be sitting where my blood was. The table was only cleaned with a paper towel and the roll off paper was pulled right over as the room was being set up for next person. No disinfecting or any type of sterilization was made while I was there. Procedure was done in December. I called three times for results. It is now March and I was just given results. The incision is horrible. I still have a cyst under skin. There is pain now which was not present before procedure. Overall concerns were poor doctor bedside manner, poor patient care and follow up information, and extremely poor cleanliness. I would avoid this practice at all costs. I regret having this minor procedure done here. I would recommend a second opinion from another doctor before having any procedures done here. read more

I have been coming here a little over 2 years since I've switched insurances and I don't regret it at all Ramina the PA is amazing. She is attentive on an professional level as well as a personal level. I travel a lot for work so she always calls me to make sure I can attend my follow up appointments (if their needed) or she makes sure I'll be around to come back in so she can check on me herself. it was Like a drive By appointment. she spent "one" minute with me. I came with a diagnosis of alopecia aereata because I have other auto immune issues, my endocrinologist i see in manhattan already diagnosed me. SHE OFFERED ME NOTHING, NO SCALP INJECTIONS WITH STEROIDS she made sure she saw me twice to get a 2 x allowable payment for diagnosis and SHE DID NOTHING. I would like to thank Dr. McCormack and her staff for the kind treatment I received most recently. The office staff were so flexible and understanding about my two cancellations due to an ill mother. When I expressed my preference for a female PA, Dr. McCormack made herself available to me. She was very patient and spent a lot of time answering my questions and concerns. I was pleasantly surprised when she gave me a special cream out of her sale case to help my skin issue. This was perhaps THE MOST TERRIBLE VISIT to a doctors office EVER! Save yourself the time and STAY AWAY. I wish I would have read the reviews before I made the appointment. This woman may be a great doctor, but she runs a terrible practice. She has no care about her patients time - double booked every 10 minutes- Like a factory. I booked an appointment for a yearly checkup to review moles for both my husband and I. I specifically asked to see the dr - not a physicians assistant. After waiting 50 minutes after our appointment time, a pa and her assistant came in the room as if she was in a rush- no bedside manner whatsoever. I asked if the dr was coming in and she said she was there in place of the dr. (Unless I only want to see the dr). I asked how much longer and she smiled and smugly said "however long it takes her to get here". I told her we wanted to see the dr. With an attitude, she closed her book and left the office. We then continued to wait another 25 minutes before getting dressed and leaving the office. We went to the front desk to ask for our copay back and explained our terrible experience. I've asked the desk why they double book appointments and their response was " we don't make the rules, we only do what we are told". It is clear that dr McCormack has no regard for anyone's time but her own. I live 2 miles from her office, and will never step foot in it again. As I said, this is no reflection on her competence as a doctor, because I never got to experience it. But as a business, it is terrible. read more

My experience was OK. I've personally never seen Dr McCormack in the 4 visits I've had and have always been assisted by the PA which are great. My main issue lies in their billing manager who sits in the back and does nothing. After notifying her my out of pocket max is spent and that my insurance covers all co pays she insisted on me paying the copay and that "my insurance will pay me back". Money I didn't have to spend but I also needed my surgery for a precancerous mole. After speaking to the insurance they then referenced me back to the office since they were NOT SUPPOSED to charge my co pay and had to refund me they reviewed my account and let me know I would received a check. I have been waiting on my refund check FOR TWO WEEKS NOW. read more

I agree 100% with Doug K, Mark H, and the many others whose reviews say do not come to this practice, they are unprofessional, they are rude, they only see $$ signs, there is extremely long wait times, and YOU WILL NEVER SEE DR MCCORMACK. I made an apt with Dr McCormack for a body scan. After 45 min in the waiting room, a young unprofessional and unfriendly PA comes in. She said shes here to do the scan. I said, I made an apt with the Dr. She said she was held up. I paid $50 to see the best dr in the Point Pleasant area, and instead received a 26 year old substitute. She determines she wants to do a scrap. Their office policy makes you COME BACK for the scrap. Another $50. I tell receptionist I want McCormack to perform the scrap. I even pushed the apt back a few weeks to ensure I could get her. I left work early bc there hours do not cater to anyone with a full time job. A new 26 year old unfriendly PA comes in to do the scrap. I am livid. Now 4 weeks pass. I call for results. There OFFICE POLICY again is that you need to come in for results. Another $50 to be told I dont have anything of concern? I tell the woman on the phone that legally she must let me know if I have cancer! She laughs and tells me to either come in or cancel but she wont give results on the phone. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and calling my insurance company today. - Unprofessional, young, snotty PA's - RUDE office staff - McCormack NEVER available - Just after your $. OFFICE POLICY (not insurance policy) to not scrap on first visit and OFFICE POLICY (not insurance policy) to come back for results rather than get them on the phone - Not to mention, first time I come back in a year, I give new insurance and they go and bill the old one so it didnt go through. 10 years ago when I started to see Dr McCormack, I had a wonderful experience. She took time with her patients and I valued her expertise. Then as the years went on the time she spent with you became more brief and her body language(one foot pointed towards the door) made the appointments feel rushed. Pretty soon I could only get to see her PAs. Fast forward to now--the office is a disgrace. The young receptionists are haughty, rude and inefficient. There were 3 of them behind the desk and I stood there for many minutes before any of them bothered to look up and acknowledge I was there(they preferred to chat amongst themselves). The waiting room is standing room only with elderly people having no where to sit. Wait times are abominable-clearly their time is more valuable than mine. But man are they efficient when they Re collecting their co-pays. The billing manager is aggressive and rude. I could go on about other instances of unprofessionalism but I will not--you get the drift. I steer everyone I can away from that practice now to save them the headache. read more

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I took my 13 year old daughter here, for her first visit to a dermatologist. I specifically stated in the copious and extensive paperwork that, "we wanted to see the doctor". After a 20 minute wait... we went in and a nurse practitioner introduced herself and looked at her, recommended the obvious and prescribed a cream. This took less then 3 minutes. I assumed the doctor would come in next (as is the case at our pediatrician). But that was it... we were dismissed. When we went out to the reception area, I stated to one of the office women that, "I had specifically requested to see the doctor" ... I was annoyingly tolerated and told "we could sit and wait again, but it could be awhile". The lack of courtesy and sensitivity towards a 13 year old, new patient, was extraordinary. I went to have a mole looked at.I literally saw the doctor for less than 45 seconds. A physicians assistant took over. She looked at the mole and said come in next week and we'll take it out.I went the next week, never saw the doctor, she sliced it off and told me to come back in a week, never did. It seems they like to get extra visits out of their patients. Why not slice the thing off on the first visit? Some of the other review sites ,wellness.com,have really blasted this doctor. read more

I had to deal with a couple of bad drs while taking care of my mother's cancer but of all of them the worse i have ever come accross with has been Patricia McCormack.. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy.. Her assistants put her to shame when it comes to treating a patient with kindness and professionalism which she totally lacks.. when she entered the office didn't even introduced herself as the dr and had a terrible attitude and looking back to this day i can't understand how i didn't tell her what she deserved right at that moment and totally went through with the appointment.. Went to her with a wort. Saw her assistant. He said yes that's a wort. Go pay up at the desk and make another appointment. They did absolutely nothing to me. And charged me and my insurance company. I hadn't been to Dr. McCormacks office in ten years because of slow service but insurance restrictions brought me back. I thought I would give the office another try. I had to fill in information again since I wasnt in the system anymore. Not a big deal. I specifically made my appointment with the Dr. because I was going to have a full body check. When I was finally brought into a room I waited 55 minutes in a paper gown until a nurse practitioner came in. The full body exam lasted less than 5 minutes, No lie. I did eventually see Dr. McCormack but it didnt go well after that. I will not be going back again. read more

I moved into the area and decided to try Dr. McCormack at my Dermatologist. I requested that all my records be transferred prior to my appointment. I called her office the day before to confirm that they received my records- they said yes. When I arrived at the office, the waiting room was overflowing with people...I waited 1 1/2 hours to get into a room. The NP said she didn't have my records. I told her that I confirmed that they were in the office. She goes out, comes back, says no, sorry. I ask to see Dr. McCormack, who I then wait additional time for. She enters the room and says that since I have no records, I need to make another appointment to be seen when they arrive. I am very frustrated, and head to the front desk to make another appointment. I say my name and complain that I was told the records were already here...one girls says, "Yes, I have them right here on the desk". At this point I request to be put back into a room to be checked. Dr. McCormack refuses to let me do this and tells me to make an appointment for next week. I leave without making the appointment because I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism in the office. Fast forward 3 weeks, I get a call on phone voice message stating that I need to be seen again because the mole that they removed was cancerous!!! Terribly disappointed at the lack of professionalism. We took our 4 year old son to see the Dr for a wart that needed to be addressed on his nose. We saw the visiting physician or PA and were told to schedule a apt. We were given a numbing cream to apply 2 hours before returning and coming back for the procedure to remove it. We explained our son was little and it probably would not be a smooth pleasant situation, but they assured us that they do this all the time, and are familiar with this kind of thing. They booked it with the nurse practitioner. She entered into the room with a horrible attitude before even trying, she made some excuses why this was not going to work. We should have left right then and there. We explained that we were told by the PA, that we saw at the initial visit that he explained the plan and reassured us that it is a standard procedure.....she started with a numbing needle and made one attempt as she sliced into the nose. She then stopped a quarter of the way into it, and proclaimed she could not handle the procedure and walked out the door. While my son was bleeding! No...let's put a bandage on , let's talk about after care....just left! Because she was not capable of handling the job?!?! After we were told by numerous staff members that this was a standard procedure and anyone who we would be appointed to, would be...more then capable of performing this task. Way to leave a patient high and dry...just walk out. We were beyond disgusted. As we packed up and headed for the door....a timid nurse came to us finally with a printed out photo copy on how to handle a generic small wound and a bandaid. Big deal! She only did that because she must of heard how outrageous it was to be left bleeding by the NP, as she disappeared with no further answers or suggestions. Unbelievable and unforgivable. read more

I have to start with DON'T EVER GO TO THIS OFFICE!! I was seen in the pt pleasant office and it was the worst experience of my life. I first had a biopsy done on a spot on my head and had to come back 2 weeks later for the results. Now I can understand if there is something wrong why they don't give you the results over the phone, but if everything if OK then why make someone pay their co-pay again to tell them everything is good. Uh maybe MONEY!! Anyway I find out I have to have MOHS, and this time I came I saw someone different, she was very quick and handed me information and said make another appointment. Now this appointment is with Dr Kiken, and they only do this surgery on Monday's. Well when you go in it looks like a butcher assembly line. He just goes from room to room cutting away. I ended up with a hole on my head in "his words the size of a silver dollar" and had to be stitched up. I was told it would feel tight and take some Tylenol. I woke up in the middle of the night in so much pain. I called their service at 6 in the morning only to be told the doctor isn't answering they will get back to me. No one did and it took me 4 more phone calls to finally get them to give me something for the pain, that was at 2 in the afternoon. The next day I called again because the pain was even worse and I wanted to be seen. I went in and now saw someone different again. There favorite word in the office is oh are you having some discomfort. I explained several times it was not discomfort, It is PAIN!!! I was now given a prescription for a cream that I was suppose to have been given the first time. If took a week on pain medicine and I lost 2 days of work before I felt better. I went back after 3 weeks to get the stitches out and now saw another person. I asked to see Dr Kiken because I now have a bald spot on my head the size of a silver dollar and wanted to ask some questions, only to be told he was busy I need to make an appointment. Oh and I need to make an appointment to have some other spots looked at. I asked why they didn't check them the first time and I didn't get an answer. When I was leaving I passed the Doctor who was busy laughing and talking with the girls in the front office. I didn't make another appointment and I suggest you don't either. read more
