Luckily RMHR had some open space and we were allowed to stay during the duration of our little guys recovery. The staff is very friendly and the facilities very clean. They help families here by providing meals and a caring environment . The house rules are reasonable and common sense - no alcohol, no visiting guests during Covid , clean up after yourself, be respectful to other guest during quiet hours, etc. The house is a big help to us as our little guy's hospital stay will likely put a ding in our wallets. Their charity will greatly help us out financially since we don't have to get a hotel on our own. They recommend but don't require a suggested $15/night donation to the charity which I feel is more than fair. Thank you, Ronald McDonald House Richmond!

She said that the system was out of date and doesn't always work. She then asked me for the phone number to the YMCA where my account came from so that she could call them, but obviously I don't know what it is. How often does someone call a YMCA and I'm pretty sure it is her job to have those phone numbers herself? Miss Sandra then looked at me as if I was a liar who was just trying to sneak into her facility and didn't want to call for herself. I know for a fact that my membership is valid, because I just got a new tag from a different branch three days prior. Since this incident, I have been to three different YMCAs and my membership has worked at all three with no problems. In fact, I went to a branch in downtown Richmond after I was denied from this location, and the wonderful woman working the front desk helped make sure that my membership would work at all locations within 5 minutes. Not only did this kind woman help me, she did it with a smile on her face. She was happy to help. On the other hand, Miss Sandra was the opposite. She wasn't willing to help or do her job to ensure that I could use the facility, but instead looked at me as if I was lying straight to her face. I really didn't appreciate that as I am sure that nobody does. I didn't bother to argue with her, because frankly I do not care. I am more than happy to visit any other location where the management has an ounce of respect for the people that pay to use these facilities and are happy to do their job. Needless to say, I will not be going back there because of Miss Sandra and simply the fact that there are better YMCAs within a 15 minute drive.

Trainers are mostly good, engaged, knowledgeable but a few I have seen them on the phone not as engaged. The reason for the 2 stars is this place is filthy dirty. I don't think have ever cleaned the bathroom ever since they opened over 30 years ago. It's very disappointing to see them being so cheap to hire a janitor to clean weekly for the health of our kids. Everyone is probably breathing mold, I wish this place could get audited for health inspection it would fail in a second.

Hands On is my absolute favorite non-profit in Richmond. They have pretty much any type of project that you can imagine. You can be an ongoing volunteer on one specific project or you can volunteer on just one day. Each year they host Hands On RVA Day which is Richmond's largest non-profit day of service with tons of projects going on all around the city. I first participated in this a year ago and this is what made me fall in love with this organization. They have a passionate group of employees that inspire you to volunteer and and are very experienced and organized. My favorite project that they offer are the DIY projects that they post every month. This allows you to collect items and make something for a nonprofit that they need. For instance this month, the project is to make zip lock bags of toiletry items to donate to a non-profit in the area that works with the homeless. My friends and I gathered the supplies and assembled these kits in under an hour. If you haven't had a chance, create a profile on Hands On's website and figure out a way to get involved.

The daycare staff (which I've only used for parents night out) are REALLY nice and seem genuinely caring. The family hours for the pool are somewhat difficult to get to but extremely relaxing. I've had one negative encounter with an overzealous lifeguard challenged in people skills but the ymca was great in addressing it and the overwhelming majority of lifeguards are wonderful. The sauna is iffy as it services everyone but is in the pool area. I would love separate male/ female saunas, but more so, it's just awkward to get out the pool and have to sit beside someone in sneakers with their feet on the wood, singing loudly. Not my idea of a good sauna experience but you get what you pay for and the price is good here, considering how amazing the staff is and how much is included.

I was told she can't help me, there is no information, and that I was told when I came in to have coffee or leave because of the situation. Sad that there obviously is no guard back up system in place and now almost an hour later no one. I waited because of the timing of the rest of my day. This also is my second visit. And most likely my last. I can see why this gym seems under populated with guests.
