I am very disappointed with my experience, and I haven't even arrived for my stay yet…read more Since June, I repeatedly called the reservation number that was provided to me, but every call was disconnected. Then, after the death of a family member, making my reservation and purchasing my Fast Pass understandably slipped my mind. When I began calling again, I continued to experience the same issue with the reservation line, making it impossible to complete my purchase before the 14-day discounted pricing deadline. I eventually went to the website and submitted a message, which resulted in being given two additional phone numbers. I called one of those numbers, and someone answered immediately. I wish I had gotten the representative's name because I was trying to purchase my Fast Pass. Unfortunately, because my reservation was now only 12 days away instead of 14, the price had increased from $12 per day to $15 per day. My primary reason for calling was that one of our vehicles would not be on the property for the entire stay, and I did not want to pay for days it would not be used. I will admit that I was very upset and not as pleasant as I normally would have been. After months of trying to reach the reservation line, dealing with the loss of a family member, and then learning I had to pay more because I had been unable to get through sooner, my frustration got the best of me. What pushed me over the edge was being told, "Well, you could have called in June when the reservation was sent." I did. Even so, I do not believe hanging up on a customer is ever an appropriate way to handle a situation. Every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, even during a difficult conversation. I had not visited Ocean Lakes for several years because of previous issues, including having items stolen while staying on the property. I decided to give it another chance, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, this experience has convinced me that after this stay, I will not be returning. It does not matter whether a business is family-owned or corporate-owned--no customer should ever be treated this way. Good customer service means listening, showing respect, and making a genuine effort to resolve concerns. A good rule to live by is to treat every customer the way you would want your own grandparents to be treated. If that level of care and respect is not being shown, then something needs to change. Sadly, Ocean Lakes is not what it used to be. It now seems to be more focused on maximizing revenue than providing the family-friendly atmosphere and caring customer service that once made it such a special place. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future guests do not have a similar experience. While I cannot change what happened, I believe there is an opportunity for Ocean Lakes to improve its communication, customer service, and reservation process.

Very hard review due to the mixed feelings I have about this place. My first impression was over…read morethe phone when I asked about check in time I was told it is 3pm and if you want to check in before it is an additional 25 dollar fee, seriously? yes even if the site is available, ok so what do I do if my GPS takes me there and arrive at 2:40 and she said you still have to pay the 25 dollar fee or you can wait at a nearby Walmart. Gave me the impression that is not a customer friendly campground. I wasn't given the discount because I didn't ask for it, no refunds after the site has been reserved, no credits either. Upon arrival we were waiting to be checked in behind a Class A rig by the gate house and due to the size of the Class A I could not read the tiny sign indicating that if there was nobody at the gate to come inside, finally when that rig moved I realized I had to go inside, another 5 or six minutes wasted after 3pm no big deal but it adds up to my initial disconformity. The place is huge! I have never been to a campground with over 1000 sites not one hundred but one thousand! Very hard water but that is not their fault, city water. Got to our site and it looks ok but but but it is not concrete and it is not gravel, it is a combination of dirt sand and leaves. That tells me the site may have been vacant for several days and the 25 dollar fee is not even justified because I am not rushing employees to clean up the site that just became available the day of my arrival. Dirt and sand, no problem as long as there is no rain because I brought my 14 X 14 rug but guess what it rained all day the day before our departure and it was a bit of a mess even if we take our shoes off inside the coach. We didn't partake in any of the amenities available like the water park and the corn hole etc because of the convention we were attending here and BTW the facility we were given was very nice to accommodate about 80 plus of us. I take one star for the fact that my site wasn't quite level and for the dirt, it is not even gravel for goodness sake. I wouldn't call it a resort unless every site was concrete Would I come back? Yes just because the beach right there a few feet from the sites that are closest to the Information Center where we gather every day for our conference. It turns out they give a discount but they won't offer it to you unless you ASK for it and because I didn't ask at the time I booked they refused to refund because it is run by a corporation with dozens and tens of dozens of employees. Inclined to take two stars but because I had a great time with our new friends at the convention I am leaving this place very happy and wishing to come back when it is not raining ALL DAY with a bloody mess on my shoes with all the dirt and sand. Water park inside for the youngins but the dirt and sand prevents me from calling a five star resort but a four star campground

Have stayed at Lakewood Camping Resort for the past 3-years. Just left today from staying there…read morefor the annual Jeep Jam in MB. Due to a misunderstanding we missed the 11am pull out / check out. We own this mistake and for that we apologize. However, we were connected and out by noon to head back to NC. The staff (security) was exceptionally rude. The front desk then called and stated that they were told that we were "lounging" at our site. This was false. They too were rude and pointed and then threatened a 1/2 day charge for "hanging out". We could understand if there was another camper waiting to come in but this wasn't the case. Poor customer service is an issue with this venue. Do not recommend and we will not be back.
