We have a local move coming up so I used Yelp to check out moving companies and pick one with great reviews. Patriot Moving Systems caught my attention so I called them to get more information. I talked with Dennis to get answers to my questions. He told me they are full service, meaning they will pack as well as move your household contents. You also have the option to do your own packing. One place I called pretty much only loads and moves your stuff so you have to do your own packing. Patriot sells boxes and packing materials but also suggested Home Depot or Lowe's but said he actually prefers and recommends getting these from U-Haul as he thinks theirs are better quality and sturdier. What I like is the way Dennis explained our options without overly promoting materials through Patriot. He also explained the rates for their services. Basically it is an hourly rate per person plus a trip charge and cost of the truck usage. He came out and walked through or house and then was able to give us a rough estimate of the number of hours we would likely need. We planned to use a staging company so we needed to pack some things to thin out certain areas like closets and kitchen countertops. So we arranged for Patriot to send out three people to box and move things into the garage for three hours and that was a big help. They were focused and hard working guys who went practically non-stop for the time scheduled. Whenever there was a question about packing certain items they asked about it. I could tell that they all knew what they were doing, their experience showed and they treated our things as if they were theirs. Delicate items were wrapped well for protection. Our move is currently on hold as we continue to pursue selling our home but Dennis checks in with me periodically to see how things are going. I will update this review once we actually complete our move but we know who we trust with packing and moving our property. read more

Another mover showed up and tried to gouge me and tell me my move would take twice as long and they could only move 2/3 of my stuff. Fired them on the spot, but still needed to move ASAP. Same day I called around and Patriot managed to help me out. Efficient, friendly, and hard-working. We beat the initial quoted time (before the gouging) by a good 30 minutes. These guys did such a great job moving us! Joe + Mike were super efficient. They showed in the window of time that was scheduled for us. Super professional. Joe was the master of safely moving/staking all of our furniture+ boxes into the truck. Mike lifted and carried our stuff to him. They worked together doing the big stuff. They communicated very well and really never took any breaks. These two hustled, were super nice and didn't ding a corner, a piece or even break one thing! I have used Patriot Moving on 5 different occasions. What first drew me to them was their name. And i'm a Veteran, so it seemed fitting i went with their company. Raul moved my stuff at least twice, and i just love him. He is so nice and takes his time with my precious items. The last time i recently moved, he and Dennis boxed most of my things and loaded them up for me. I helped very little! It was an overwhelming experience for me, as i absolutely HATE moving and packing! Needless to say, if i can pay someone to do something i dread, you better believe I'm going to! Anyways, if you need moving supplies, boxes, etc. make sure you tell them ahead of time. We ran out of boxes, to no fault of Patriot Moving (oops...i had a ton crap) and i ended up giving them garbage bags to use to finish packing the rest. I hope i never have to move again, but if i do, i will again, go with Patriot moving, and i will request Raul (he probably dreads it when he knows he's scheduled to move all of my crap!!!)!!! Super professional, trustworthy and nice. I liked everyone I've worked with at this company, including the receptionist who answers the phones and scheduled the moving date. read more

We used patriot to move to our new home a town over this morning, and Jamie and Raul took great care of us! They were on time, reviewed everything with us to make sure everyone was on the same page, and sure worked their tails off! They did not hesitate to confirm directions or ask questions, and took great care in loading/unloading all of our furniture/boxes. The job took as long as anticipated/was estimated. They have great rates and kind, efficient and professional workers, would highly recommend to anyone! Though Dennis was nice enough he didn't deliver. Plenty of emails were exchanged about timing and what I needed but right at the last minute he backed out. Since this is a service industry, then you should make sure you can provide the service that the customer needs and follow through on what you promise. They backed out of the move 2 hours before it needed to happen. I would stay away from this company because they are not able to commit. read more

Great company. They arrived sharp on time that was scheduled. They also called the day before to confirm the time of arrival which is great. My wife and I were pretty impressed at how quick and efficient they worked. Nothing but a small scuff on a wall which is totally understandable... I mean, you are moving a whole apartment and a bunch of furniture, boxes, etc. I will likely move again next year and are definitely calling them again. Terrible!! I'm shocked I got to Florida from Wisconsin a few days ago. My plastic bins are broken my boxes are smashed my mattresses covers which where doubled had holes in both layers, when I got to looking I seen roaches in the bag with my brand new 899.00 mattresses the rhing is the room in my new home was sealed right after they brought my stuff at night time because I told them we had no power as they where dropping the ceiling in kitchen and living room, so my realtor couldnt see anything as they went so fast! Then she sealed the room. When the pest control came they said they where mostly babies and didnt find many outside of the room. My whole experience was awful if I told everyting I would write a short story! I will be getting a refund as the pictures I have and people who where at both ends of this trip seen the before and after. The whole ordeal has been a nightmare. read more

Let's start with the positive. My family has used Patriot four times before with good results: my sister's business, my parents, and my brother twice. Now for the negative. We hired them in December to move us from our house in Shelby Township to our new house in Commerce Township. The three man crew worked hard and did an overall great job. The problem was with Dennis, the owner/manager. A month before the move, I arranged for him to come out to our house to assess the contents. We had already emptied the closets and most of the kitchen with the contents already boxed and in full view. There were no surprises. He estimated a three man crew, 8-10 hours @ $120/hr, assuring us it would fit in one truck. We agreed to date/time and I explained our tight schedule: closing on Dec 16th, move on the 17th and turning over the keys at 10 a.m. on the 18th. Three days before the move I checked in with Dennis and expressed my concern about everything fitting in one truck. He assured me "it's a big truck". OK, you're the expert. In preparation for the move, my husband and I moved three full minivan loads and one car load on Friday. The crew arrived on time Saturday morning. I showed them around and they proceeded to tell me "there is no way this will fit in one truck". They also added that it should have been a four man / two truck job. I called Dennis immediately and asked him to send another truck. He responded "I don't have another truck or crew." The soonest he could help us was MONDAY. I told him Monday would not work, we have to be out by 10 a.m. Sunday! He said maybe he could find some guys with trucks. I told him to do what he had to do. My husband and I ended up making five more minivan loads and one car load on Saturday. We told the crew to make sure they got all the "big stuff" since we only had a minivan. We ended up having to make two more minivan and two car loads on Sunday morning before 10. That is a total of ten minivan loads and four car loads. Two other important factors, TRAVEL TIME WAS 0VER 1.5 HOURS ROUND TRIP AND WE ARE 57 AND 59 YEARS OLD!! I could barely walk for two days afterwards. I called Dennis on Dec 20th and explained everything in detail. He said "Why didn't you call me?" I did! You said you couldn't help me until MONDAY! He said you should have called me again later because I had a cancellation!! How was I to know this? Why didn't you call me? UNBELIEVABLE! He was blaming me for not calling back to ask twice for him to send another truck! I also I told him that the crew left behind three large basement storage shelves. I asked for a partial refund of the almost $1,500 I paid. He refused. He offered to go pick up the storage shelves and deliver them to me. I had to remind him that the house and its contents NO LONGER BELONGED TO ME! I paid the FULL estimated amount to move the contents of one house to another and DID NOT RECEIVE THE EXPECTED SERVICE! They moved some of the contents, not ALL of the contents. During the phone call, Dennis also informed me that "I saved a lot of money by moving all the stuff ourselves". I responded "Not worth it, Dennis!" This was absolutely THE WORST SERVICE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Dennis underestimated the space needed by at least a half truck. Most baffling is finding out later that Dennis RENTED a bigger truck when moving my brother because he was concerned that the regular truck wouldn't be big enough! That move was only 5 miles, mine was 33 miles one way! Bottom line: Dennis severely underestimated the size of the job. He never apologized for his error. He lacked any understanding or appreciation (empathy) for the situation he put us in and how much physical work we had to do in a very short time because of his error. We paid him in full even though we did not receive the service we paid for. He has been unwilling to offer any refund or to compensate us for our travel time, mileage or the storage shelves we had to leave behind. I have never written a bad review of any business. I felt it was important to let people know what happened to us. We will never do business with Patriot Movers again and will never recommend them to anyone. read more

These guys did a great job for me. Raul and his crew are courteous and professional. The only issue I had was that I was charged a $150 trip fee and also charged for the $120 hourly rate for the hr drive. That seems excessive and it was not explained that way when I asked prior to hiring them. Overall though they did a great job! read more

After they were done loading the truck and prior to leaving for our new home they asked me how they were doing, and if I was satisfied so far - to which I answered "terrific and thank you very much for asking". Yes I am very satisfied. They were very efficient, knowledgeable and took care not to damage anything. They did the same great job unloading, assembling and placing furniture at the destination. I estimated the minimum and maximum time it would take at both ends and they were consistently at the minimum. They also showed up promptly at the time expected, which was important as I was moving my handicapped mother. I will gladly use Patriot again for future moves. read more
