I have shopped here for years. But an odd thing happened today. I bought a pound of cooked shrimp ($17), and when I unwrapped it at home, the shrimp were slimy and smelled awful. I took them back and went into the manager's office. The two managers were totally uninterested that they sold me bad shellfish and pointed me to the customer service desk. A barely conscious kid in his 20s or so took the bag of shrimp and tossed it in the garbage, also totally not interested in the real issue - that they are selling rotten seafood. He refunded my money. When the customer service guy tossed the rotten shrimp I suggested he remove the other shrimp or at least inspect it. No response and he did nothing. I went back to the fish counter and asked if the larger cooked shrimp (in a different bay than the ones I originally bought) were fresh, letting the clerk know what had happened (there was a different man on duty earlier). The young man said yes, and to his credit went to the walk-in refrigerator and brought out a fresher bag of shrimp just so I'd know they were okay. He let me inspect one, and it was fine - no slime or rotten smell - so I bought them. Here's the really surprising thing: No one - not the managers or customer service person - APOLOGIZED. I would have expected them to jump up in a panic and run over to the seafood department to see what was happening! I guess the reason for their nonchalance was that I was probably not the only person returning rotten seafood today. Kind of a surreal experience. I guess I'll stick to buying desserts from their excellent bakery, but skip the seafood, meat and deli from now on. read more

I would give a 0 if I could! I made an appointment for my Fire Island trip, and the manager explained the process, NEVER mentioned an upcharge fee, just a charge for boxes. I arrived during my shopping window and was using a calculator to add the prices since they do not total your order ( BIG MISTAKE) To my dismay, the charges were almost 1100 dollars!!! I called immediately and was encountered by a very RUDE manager stated, " I know what I told you, and I told you there was a 25% upcharge." As a manager, I know how to communicate with people, and wrote down the instructions word for word - She then said the things I shopped for were 2 to 3 times more than what was listed, and claimed I looked at the prices wrong. Ordered catering based on a recommendation on a community page. Roast beef and mozzarella hero on garlic bread was good. Balsamic glazed chicken hero was also good. Hot food was supposed to be hot; it wasn't. Wings had thick "bready" coating. Buffalo wings were so spicy, they were almost inedible. Mozzarella sticks and bacon MAC no cheese bites were flavorless. Disappointing is an understatement. 3rd star for heroes, otherwise a 2 star review. Maybe quality is lacking because of Covid; I have no idea. read more

Pats Market is a 5 min ride from my home so it's convenient for me to stop in when I just need a few quick things .The prices here are a bit inflated for me to do my full grocery shopping . You have to look for the sales ! I usually just get a few produce items , additionally they have a nice selection of Organic veggies ! Their Deli is also a little pricey , everything looks nice and fresh but I usually just get some Boars Head cheese and turkey. They do have a lot of all kinds of prepared foods all set to go , you can get sushi , soup and salads . I am not a big fan of prepared foods so I haven't tried anything . Everything looks good but some of the reviews I've read haven't been favorable .Just be aware to check the expiration dates sometimes they are outdated!! The bakery is pretty decent . In the past I have purchased their cookies , muffins and their Italian breads and rolls . They are all very good and the prices are comparable to a traditional bakery . There are not any other shops close by in the area so this is my best option when I don't feel like driving to the local supermarket. Works for me ! read more

You can always expect great quality food and home made items from here. Employees we encounter are always friendly. And they are very welcoming to my medical alert dog. I love this place so far! It was my first time here today and it was super clean, all the fruit looks great and fresh. Very organized. They have a great bakery section. I tried the Oreo cheesecake. It was really good. The sushi looks awesome but I didn't get any this time but it was tempting. They have tons of marinated meats, steak , pork and chicken pinwheels. Chicken cutlets already done just need to be cooked. A bunch of prepared meals. Pastas, chicken parm etc. they have a great cheese section, cold cuts and apps. Plenty of normal aisles and brands you'd find at many supermarkets. Huge diary/yogurt section. They had a ton of IPAs and beer/seltzer's. I'd highly recommend this market. Great selection! read more

The employees are rude and entirely disinterested. They see you struggling to get to a checkout line and they just stare at you instead of saying "yes this lane is open" or even "hi". The store itself is set up in such a way that it's very difficult to walk around, never mind maneuver a cart. The displays and aisles are just set too tightly. Most of the customers are big and older so I don't know why this isn't an obvious issue. Also they didn't have any of the cheese I needed. Never going here again. read more

I don't know what happened to the quality of their roasted chicken breasts. They were very moist and delicious. The last 4 time they were extremely dry with no flavor. It was so dry tonight, we had to throw it out. done buying them and hoping to get a good one. read more

It's a lovely supermarket a little bit niche, some unusual or hard to find items. Among a few other items, I bought a rose-topped cupcake for $3.50 which, although beautiful, is dry as sand and the pretty frosting rather tasteless. read more

I really like Pats prepared foods. It's been a great local spot and benefit to East Islip options. I really wanted to give Pats the benefit of the doubt of proper mask used during COVID. But you can tell they don't care fully about masks and public health protection. Gave Pats one more shot today - they require customers to wear mask, but I counted over 6 employees not wearing masks correctly, including several areas where employees walk right past customers.I went to point this out to the manager, but he was not wearing a mask correctly either. It saddens me but I will find another local supermarket to go to, with Pats being so lax with COVID. read more

I came here to the bakery department where my wife ordered lite breakfast and a cake. The order was perfect and the food was really good. We had called ahead and it was ready the next day at the exact time we asked it for. I recently went back to see the seafood dept and it did not disappoint.! I got 5 HUGE stuffed clams at just $3 a piece, also got the stuffed lobster tales for 2/$15 which was a bargain with the size they were. The sale for that day was whole live lobsters at $6.99 for a 1.25 pounder. They also have many craft beers and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I will def be returning here again and again. I am an East Islip resident and summer on Fire Island so I am familiar with Pat's. Since I was aware that Pat's is one of 3 markets that Fire Island Ferries accepts grocery deliveries I thought I'd give it a try for the convenience it affords. I placed a small order to try it and expected that if an item wasn't available I would get a call asking if I wanted a replacement (as other markets do). That did not happen, and a dog food item was replaced with a different type as well as adding an extra container of laundry detergent since the size I requested was not available. No excuses. Their prepackaged meals and sushi has always been fresh! A great place to stop in and grab something quick if dinner was last minute and unplanned. Always have received friendly service and the store is always clean. Something to be aware of, some of their fresh produce is a little on the pricey side but not exponentially so. The deli meat is the best! Try their homemade turkey or raost beef- beats Boars Head. Their butcher meats as well! Last week i bought hamburger meat/chuck beef for $3.99/lb and boneless wholechicken breasts $1.99/lb. Produce also is great. Highly recommend! Visiting family in East Islip Long Island stopped into Pat's for last minute shopping I was amaze of the quality of food in deli section overall the store is awesome with its variety of foods selection, this is one of my favorite store I visited so far. This review has nothing to do with the expensive food at Pat's Market it does have to do with their POS system . Well I like to keep my shopping cards with little cash for reasons that everybody should realize at this point, sometimes I run short and instead of Pat's POS saying declined or insufficient funds , it tells you or it tells the cashier the actual balance on my account . This is completely illegal and should be stopped all the fraud out there perpetrated upon We the People is actually done by the very people that offer these cards and the people that take them . I am accusing them I'm unusual practices yes . And the manager was quite rude when I explained the situation . First I went to my bank and they had nothing to do with it . I went to Pat's and again they were quite rude. Don't know what happened to the spinach pie (spanakopita) at the deli counter. It used to be flaky and flavorful. Today, I purchased it and it was not edible. Bottom was like pizza crust, spinach had no flavor, and the top was soggy not flaky. Please remove it to prevent another person from purchasing that mess. read more

I'm sick and tired of shopping here only to come home with bags of food to find the next day either the milk was expired or soon to expire and the produce has already turned or wilted the next day. The shelves are always stocked with expired items. I loved this store when it opened and as time has gone on it seems to get worse and worse. I have made mention to people working there from time to time to only keep seeing the same thing going on. I hope they get this fixed and pay more attention to their stock, I would love to keep patronizing this store but I shouldn't have to double check every item before I buy it to make sure it's not expired. read more

Great store but VERY turned off by the rude cashiers this am... not a good experience

I hate to leave a negative review, but there's no other way to look at it. The last time I bought prepared foods from here, I felt that they went bad quickly. Thought maybe I was being picky, or caught them on a bad day/ week. But today I was there and paid close attention to expiration dates prior to buying. Both on prepared foods and refrigerated items, it was clear that they didn't care if they had expired items on their shelves. The produce was iffy, the dairy was also all over the map as far as expiration dates... But then... then I overheard something that really took it to another level. One employee, who I would assume was management, telling another "they're not going to sell themselves in the stockroom. Change the expiration dates and put them out." Excuse me, WHAT?! I was standing by the cheese section right at the front of the store and just thought wait what? What are we relabeling? Cookies? Meat? Cheese that I was about to pay top dollar for? I just couldn't believe it. I was in a rush to get to my sons school so I couldn't even complain at the moment. I got what I had in my cart and left. I will never go back now that I am aware that they knowingly risk people's safety. I'll have to seek out somewhere closer than Fairay to get groceries that will last more than a couple days, if at all. Buyer beware. read more
