It might be also due to the lack of lactose in this particular brand. It is hard to find, but always in stock here Cornucopia. That is what initially drew me here. The store is has an organic earthy tone, layered wood displays with mute tones. It feels like shopping in a cozy enchanted forest. With fresh things growing everywhere. They seem to have a little bit of everything. I enjoy the FRESH goodies at the counter as you check out, they are all amazing. Something else to check out is the app called to " TooGoodToGo" it has $10.00 surprise bags for here so you can also add a great deal to the trip and wait for your exciting surprise. Full service grocery store. My family has been coming here for many years. I have to say, pretty much anything you take off the shelf will be as healthy as the item you choose can be. I really like the fact that much thought is put into what is placed on the shelves. I like even more that the prices are very competitive with the big brands that really could not care less about quality of product or service. I am very price sensitive, and over a long period of time I have found I am better off coming here than the competitors because it is a short menu of quality groceries. They zero in on why I am here. It saves me time, effort and shopping stress. In and out with a smile from a local resident that truly cares if they cross paths with me outside of the store. I've been coming here for close to 15 years. I've always loved it there. It's expensive, but you pay for what you get right? However, lately I've been finding the staff a little rude. That was never the case and I've always found the staff so friendly, but the last few times I've come in they seem miserable. There's an older woman with shoulder length white hair at the register and she shot my young daughter the dirtiest look, like visibly rolled her eyes at my daughter who did nothing. I'm the least confrontational human so we just left but what gives man? With Whole Foods coming in hot they need to step it up or they'll lose their entire customer base to them. Unpretentious, affordable and delicious. Cornucopia is everything you could ever want in a health foods establishment. I walked in as a newbie to organic and non-gmo products and left excited to begin this new (and hopefully permanent) way of living. I love their fresh fruits, especially the berries that are better than any large grocery chain. I also love that some of their eggs come directly from the east end. As for the prepared foods we adore the smoothie options, so many choices to fit each craving of the day. One of the only well-stocked health food stores in the area with a café full of food options (salads, wraps, hot food, smoothies, and juices) in the back of the store. The lunch rush during the week is a battle and there is always a line, so be conscious of the time when you go if you are looking to order something from the counter. They have some popular salads and wraps prepackaged in front of the counter, which is convenient if you need to grab something and go. The food is fresh, healthy, and excellent. I know myself and many others are always ordering the Waldorf Chicken Salad. If you aren't sure about an option, most of the time you can sample it beforehand which is nice if you plan on trying something new. As for the shop portion, they have weekly features and sales on rotating products throughout the store, so if you browse around you may find something on sale that you needed or that you would like to try. If you have any questions, the staff is always smiley and very helpful! I do not do shopping here in bulk, I only go for specialty snacks and the deli usually because it can get pricey very quickly (which is not a surprise when it comes to healthy, organic foods and ingredients). Not only does it have all the vegan, paleo, gluten-free and any other difficult to find food items here, the store is beautiful and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and eager to assist you. Although a lot of reviews claim this place is on the pricey end, Cornucopia does have a plethora of higher caliber items that justify the price. Cornucopia also tends to have a decent amount of items on sale. This makes a huge difference if the items are normally out of your price range. I can't believe I haven't written a review of Cornucopia yet!! I am one of their most devoted customers. This is the absolute best place to go on all of Long Island for all things organic, vegan, paleo, gluten-free, etc., and holistic. Since their expansion, they have a wonderful selection of organic and oftentimes local produce, which is often on sale for reasonable prices (I go around pricing organic produce at all of the organic markets so I know when there's a good deal and Cornucopia does have them). Sometimes they will have more difficult to find fruits and veggies, such as jackfruit (which I love), dragonfruit, etc. They have an amazing deli with plenty of delicious vegan options!!! My favorites are the quinoa salad, roasted roots, and quinoa burger but everything is great!! They also have wonderful smoothies, juices and soups as well. So much to choose from! I usually end up buying way too much and eating it all in my car because it's too good to wait, then coming back in for seconds!! The supplement section has a variety of supplements and herbs as well as essential oils and almost everything you'd want to find at a health food store. However, my absolute favorite thing about Cornucopia is the staff. They really have a knack for hiring a wonderful group of people who are knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help. The vibe is always upbeat and positive and I've met so many lovely people here (both staff, as well as customers). For a small market, this place sure does have a lot. I was very impressed. This place is all organic & natural. If you need it, they have it. I walked in looking for Ghee, and they had it! I also found a bunch of healthy and raw snacks. The banana balls are delicious, it's a refrigerated snack. And to my pleasant surprise, THEY HAVE KOMBUCHA ON TAP! whatttttttttt!! lol I was so happy about that. I love kombucha, and not any kind! My favorite is Health-ade kombucha. Not a lot of places carry it. They also have a deli/food station in the back of the market. Anything from organic fresh juices, smoothies, wraps, salads and soups. Lots of great selections. They have a small but great produce section. Organic ginger & turmeric. All the things I am always looking for and cant seem to find in my standard supermarkets. Kudos to Cornucopia! I have been coming to this place for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. Cornucopia is a natural foods store that carries just about everything natural and organic. They carry a great selection of produce, dairy, meat and desserts. You would never guess that there were so many types of food and products in such a tiny store. Everything from all natural tooth pastes, medicines, and soaps/cosmetics to mac and cheese, sandwich wraps, and other grocery items are sold here. Just about anything organic or natural, you can find it here. A really, really, vast, great selection of items. Let's be honest. The #1 reason we all come here is Jon and the rest of the "behind the deli counter" crew. Literally the most friendly, helpful group of people I have ever met. The deli selections are made fresh and everything is absolutely delicious. They make the best soups I have ever had. The sweet potato, corn soup? DA BEST. My favorite meals are the chicken waldorf salad wrap and the roasted roots...delicious! There are fridges near the deli counter which offer beverages and a selection of foods and vegan dessert options. There are a few little tables in the back to sit and eat your meal. Whenever I eat anything here I don't feel that uncomfortable, disgusting, wtf did I just eat feeling. It's nice and really important. Some of the deli options might seem a little "out there" if you're a non-vegan, but there are also plenty of "non-vegan" options. My only complaint is the price sometimes. I understand that organic and gluten-free food will always be at higher cost than mass-produced foods. But, the deli counter items seem to be really expensive, despite how awesome everything tastes. Would love to do more of my grocery shopping here, if not for the price. I try to pick up essentials like meat and produce here if anything. More than a year later I must add an update after some of the more negative comments since i last wrote the previous review. The staff is AMAZING, just ASK! The review about 'no help' is bogus. I'm a 'picky' old lady shopper and I have been treated w'nothing but respect EVERY time I have asked a question. Most of them know the answer you need and if by chance they don't they will find someone who does! All this complaining about prices is ridicules! Years ago there used to be dozens of small 'health food stores' all over LI! Have you even thought to ask why they disappeared? Let me explain about the grocery business....it's ALL about quantity! When the nat'l chains like S&S, SR, KK, etc. started caring the 'long shelf life' products, the stores w'less clientele were lost, then when 'fridge/freezer space' was made available during the 'growth hormone' debacle in dairy more were lost. The final blow was fresh organic produce in various big chains......small independent stores simply could not pay the price. Nat'l chains buy huge quantities and ship to 'regional' warehouses and therefore get very different prices than a one & only local store. My friend, owner of a lovely Health Food Store in a busy South Shore town near the Suffolk/Nassau County line used to tell me I could go to F'way and load up on Organic canned tomatoes when they were on sale and sell them back to her for a profit, while she'd pay me LESS compared to what she had to pay her trucker! The ONLY Health Food stores that survived were those who quickly turned lose into profit by cooking their short shelf life items and giving them a 2nd chance as deli selections. A beautiful fresh organic wrap @ Cornucopia costs a bit more than one at any deli on LI but I bet it's the only one made w'all organic produce. If you are Veg/Vegan it's also the ONLY place you'll find something to stuff that wrap with! Lastly I am constantly amazed at their sale prices. My Dad was in the grocery business during his college years and he once told me about a 'lose-leader'. Every store has 'lose leaders' of 'must have groceries', like T.P.. How many times have you gone to a particular store to shop simply b/c TP is on sale for?$? Maybe it's for those cans of tomatoes @ 10 for $10, or ?$? that is WAY cheaper than normal. Let me tell you if you catch one of YOUR favorites on sale @ C'pia you better buy LOTS b/c it's likely cheaper than you will ever see it anyplace else! Every store has these sale to get you inside w'hope you will fill your cart w'many things besides the lose-leaders'. C'pia's lose leaders are cheaper than the Nat'l chains! Cornucopia is a 1/2 drive for me but I ended up updating this because because I found sooo many things I like @ exceptionally low prices on the website and I remembered how many complaints about cost I had seen here! BTW.....since the awful change @ WF & the new owner I recommend you do your best to keep ALL your favorite shopping places in business. I used to love this place and was appalled to hear the way the manager treated my mother with her little service dog. Discrimination against people with disabilities is NOT OK. EVER. Until I know that manager is fired and the establishment is educating it's employees on the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and New York State Civil Rights laws, I will not support it. The guy absolutely mortified my poor mom, rushed up to her, caused a big scene amongst all the customers, and loudly demanded she tell him what her disability was in front of everyone on line... Meanwhile, there is service dog vest on her, tags and a card my mother carries that all service dogs are required to have, which he could've simply came up to her and asked to see. (Side note, this pooch is tiny and extensively trained). There is no excuse for treating anyone that way let alone someone who has a service dog. Service dog= medically necessary, MOST adults know that not all conditions are physically visible... And she did not deserve or need that 1 bit Shame on that man. read more

I've been visiting Cornucopia for years after discovering it not too far from my previous job. It isn't possible for me to be in and out of the store quickly because I love perusing the aisles and checking out new products. I always make a point to stop in if I'm in the area and have even made multiple trips there from 35+ minutes from where I was living. The staff are all so cordial and willing to help. They offer plenty of vegan/vegetarian options and their deli is fantastic. If you visit, be sure to try their roasted roots, mac and cheese, waldorf chicken salad, soups, smoothies... I could go on. Usually, when I hear someone is vegan/paleo/gluten-free I a) judge them on being fad-dieters then b) promptly feel sorry for them since their food options are so limited. However, after sampling several of Cornucopia's deli offerings, the pity is gone, because this place knows how to make restricted diet food DE-FRICKIN-LICIOUS! The black forbidden rice is exotic-looking and tastes great -- nutty and chewier than brown rice for extra satisfying chomp-action, and tossed with sesame oil for fragrance. The roasted root vegetables are SMANG. So naturally sweet, with quality of ingredients taking the lead on flavor. Carrots, rutabaga, sweet potatoes and leeks roasted together? Pretty much candy veggies in my mouth. This was a definite winner and one of my favorites. My other favorite was the quinoa, cranberry/dates, nuts and vegetable salad, a rainbow of seasonally fresh ingredients delicately working together to fill me up but not weigh me down. Another fun combo was this broccoli slaw with sweet pineapple, chopped whole almonds and coconut flakes. Perfect if you want crispness and sweetness at the same time. Tempeh "tuna" salad with Vegenaise was only a little thicker than what I'm used to, but it was filling and rich. Not tuna-y, but not bad. The muffins are good, too, and they make gluten-free muffins right in the store! I can't wait for the fall weather so I have an excuse to get some piping hot, scratch-made organic soups. Yomz! Their selection is massive in the market, too. This is just a side note for me since I was just wowed by their deli, but they have a HUGE selection of hard-to-find, next-trend health food, and the prices are not too far off base from supermarket prices.
