Okay, this wasn't an emergency, just the beginning of one. One of the two springs on the garage door busted and the door started screaming every time it was opened or shut. We called Patterson yesterday and Tim showed up first thing this morning. I had him replace both springs as they were 9 years old and material science tells us that the new spring would put strain on the old one and cause it to break. Tim was quick and serviced the door as well, lubricating everything. Oh, and we're having carpet installed at the same time; Tim coordinated with the carpet guys so he didn't get in their way. Now that's outstanding customer service! Quick note: Patterson has very reasonable prices for the level of service they provide. They they re-sell the other parts that YOU BOUGHT, that they withheld from you, at THEIR PROFIT. What a frustration when my garage door spring broke and thus held my truck hostage over the weekend. I called a few vendors including Patterson Door Service to see about getting an appointment and a quote. It was annoying to find most wanted a fee of starting around $35.00 for an appointment/quote. Granted all that charged a fee to give a quote did said they would apply this fee IF you selected them to complete the job. HOWEVER; Patterson Door Service will provide you a FREE estimate and was even professional enough to give a service opinion of pricing approximation based on the information that I provided over the phone. He was able to come out the day I spoke to him and was professional, prompt, courteous, thorough and did a fantastic job! The prices are fair and I was completely confident in the integrity and honesty of his professional opinion of what needed to be done. One thing is they are cash/check only and do not accept credit cards for their service. In my opinion this is probably the reason they are able to keep their prices fair. I have a 3 car garage and 2 garage door openers. The garage door motors are older models that came with the house when we moved in 11 years ago. When our single garage door motor stopped working a neighbor recommended Patterson Door Service. I was expecting to replace the motor? Tim arrived on schedule and analyzed the problem, determined that the problem was not as severe as I thought and got the door working after replacing the gear and sprocket assembly. In addition, he rewired the garage opener light which had not worked properly since we moved in and lubricated both garage doors for smoother operation. More recently, Tim came out to correct a minor issue with my double garage door opener and performed the same thorough check and lube on both doors. I first used these guys from a blind phone call about 10 years ago, they were great. Since then I've used them again on my last house and on my new house. They've been great. I had an intermitant problem with the safety sensor on one door, they came back 2-3 more times until they figured it out and fixed it with no additional charges. Our older home had an old cheap garage door. I called several garage door contractors and they all had about the same type of door for the $500 I was willing to spend.
