On multiple occasions, children were left unsupervised, standing on tables and chairs with minimal staff engagement. Furthermore, despite being clearly labeled, my daughter's personal belongings were frequently misplaced or lost. More critically, there were severe lapses in safety and protocol. I had to complete two incident reports in a single day due to staff negligence. Additionally, dietary guidelines were ignored; for instance, my daughter was served chips for breakfast because staff allowed the children to dictate their meals. Safety concerns also extended to the immediate environment outside the facility, where individuals were frequently seen using drugs. When I brought this to the director Lindsey's attention, she stated she was aware but could do nothing about it, though she noted I was welcome to contact the police myself. I did call the police to clear the area, and the responding officers expressed their gratitude for the report. When I raised these broader internal and external concerns with LINDSEY, her response was highly unprofessional. Rather than addressing the issues, she retaliated and threatened to terminate our care. Due to this response, and because my daughter expressed discomfort with several teachers, I began picking her up early. On multiple occasions, staff called me while I was on my way to work claiming she was crying inconsolably; however, when family members arrived shortly after, she was calm and actively participating in activities. Additionally, the facility failed to provide regular outdoor time, which appeared to depend entirely on the staff's disposition. The only positive aspect of our experience was the care provided by Ms. Rosa ,Ms Elana and Ms. Ruthie, who were the only teachers who made my child feel comfortable. I am relieved that my daughter no longer attends this facility. We've had such a positive experience with Rogers-Pierce Childcare Center! Our family started in the…read morepreschool room with our oldest child, and now our second is thriving in the toddler room. The teachers are warm, attentive, and truly invested in each child's growth and happiness. The transition from home daycare to the center was seamless - the teachers answered questions at our play visit and were so welcoming. Communication is excellent through an app and each classroom has a cell phone for communications, too. The curriculum balances learning with play in a way that feels natural and engaging, and the kids are active in the Arlington community through different field trips and everyday adventures to the local parks and libraries. The center's values are rooted in equity, social justice, and community-building, and that shines through in all of their lessons and activities, as well as through the staff and the experience they bring to the classroom. RPCC has created a welcoming community for both kids and parents, and we feel confident every day that our children are safe, loved, and learning. We couldn't recommend Rogers-Pierce more highly!

Amongst our children this has been our third infant room experience (we've been at two other child care centers), and Diki has been the best. The teachers in the infant room are so enthusiastic, energetic, and kind, and take advantage of being in such a central location with frequent visits to the amazing nearby playgrounds, green spaces, and the children's room at the Cambridge Library's main branch. We appreciate how the head of the center fosters a sense of community through teacher appreciation and parent/teacher/child events. The teachers in the infant room (and other rooms) have been at Diki a long time and seem very committed to the center's future.

There is typically a higher turnover rate to. The job is a difficult one, taking care of young children all day long with very little breaks. Everbrook Academy (Coolidge Corner North) offers an extremely convenient location, snacks and lunch included (for all except the infants, of course), and a new Director (Tonya), who has made a positive impact since she started around Christmas time. There are also a number of teachers who truly care about the children, as well as we parents and families. There have been times when the school definitely struggled with teacher retention. However, we have seen more stability now, and can still count on some of the more tenured, seasoned, and rock solid teachers to keep on leading the way. My son (pre-k class) has needed some increased attention and support in certain areas. I can without a doubt say that the teachers (Miss. Rachel and Mr. Kaleb), along with our new Director (Tonya), have done everything they can to communicate closely and directly with me, and to work with my son to help him from day to day. Miss. Rachel, in particular, has worked in the pre-k classroom for a few years now, and is an extremely bright, talented, sharp, attentive, and engaging teacher and leader. I feel lucky that we have her! Like I said before, I feel that Tonya and the teachers have been very involved and communicative regarding my son, which has been helpful. Tonya is always quick to respond when I have something to address. I believe that things have been improving at the school since she became the Director just a few months ago. I also believe that the curriculum is good, in terms of preparing the children for kindergarten. Overall, I think that the cost of daycare is high (and yes Everbrook has raised the price every year, and has some additional fees that creep in, like their "summer camp" program)...but their hours are decent (although used to be better before covid!), and with few holiday and vacation closures. Ultimately, this is a good, safe, and caring place to send young children.

My two sons attended APTG over the course of 5 years. During our first month there, we were told…read moreby the current director (who has since been let go) that a child was accidentally left at the park across the street during outdoor play. Apparently, no one at the center realized this mistake until a random town resident returned the child to the school. The mind boggles... Obviously, this was a long time ago (and we ended up keeping our children there), but I think parents reading reviews would want to know this. The school is housed in a plain gray building which is sort of depressing the first time you see it. Inside, however, is a very warm and caring environment, thanks mainly to the teachers, who are for the most part very good and attentive. Some of the teachers were not-so-great and were clearly just passing through on the way to greener pastures. The teacher turnover rate has always been relatively high, including a near-total turnover in the space of a few months at one point. Luckily, most of the teachers we interacted with were awesome and devoted to the children. Dropoff in the morning is a completely chaotic affair. Parents are rushing in and out, kids are screaming/arguing/crying, teachers are catching up with each other about their weekends, etc. Totally hectic and very rough on kids who require a smoother transition. Now that my youngest is in a different daycare environment, I can see what total madness this was. The daycare has a weird layout, mainly due to its small size. In fact, to get to one particular classroom, you have to walk through another classroom. The center's "office" is situated in a cramped room that's sandwiched directly between two classrooms. This means that if you have anything to discuss with the director (even confidential matters), you'll be subjected to other teachers, parents, kids, etc. wandering through to get to the other room. The center director runs the center well, from an organizational standpoint. However, she lacks the warmth that you would expect from someone who works with young children all day. I often got the impression that she'd be much happier with the job if it weren't for all of those pesky children. The founder of APTG is not around very often, but sometimes stops in for big events. There's no kind way to say this: she has an extremely condescending manner. She's clearly very smart and has a lot of experience with children, but I always felt like she was lecturing the parents rather than offering helpful/useful advice. The school makes a big todo about its "curriculum", but...there really isn't one. They cover a couple of cute themes and practice some words and letters, but this is not Montessori. I think it's perfectly adequate for what it does, but let's not get carried away overselling it. APTG organizes several really fun events throughout the year. This includes a picnic in the summer, apple picking in the fall, a stone soup meal, and lots of other special events. These are always a lot of fun and a good way to see your kids in action. The nutritionist APTG hired is fantastic. She overhauled their snack menu to make it much healtheier, which was appreciated. She sometimes offers workshops at the school. If you can attend one of these, I highly recommend it as she offers a lot of useful advice. Play time (and most of the day, really) is very geared toward girls. Lots of beadwork, coloring, dramatic play, etc. Of course, this is all fun stuff for boys too! But there is virtually no rough-and-tumble, sports, kicking balls, etc. If you have a spirited/active boy (or girl), he/she will soon grow bored with the lack of variety. I don't think APTG actually _wants_ spirited/active children, since they are more work and will buck against the rigid structure. The tuition is very expensive, but seems to be par for the course for Belmont and the surrounding area. From what I've gathered, the teachers are not paid very well, which probably explains the high turnover rate. APTG isn't amazing, it isn't terrible either. It's perfectly adequate and sometimes that's exactly good enough. But there are better alternatives out there, especially for older children.

Few things Ive experienced with this the care…read more As you walk in you see the smaller kids. So the doors are opened and closed when the children and parents are entering. So winter time it doesn't seem like a good idea cause the children were all sick when my son attended the school. You can walk in with your shoes or sneakers on. They do not provide shoe protectors to avoid germs. When I went to pick up my son there were another child's pacifier in my son's mouth. Next day he got sick at 3 months. He's currently 6 months and haven't gotten better because the doctors couldn't give him medication. When I asked the director if my son get tummy time(3 months) she said he's too young for tummy time and that it will strain his muscle. Didn't make sense to me because the doctors made note that the baby do tummy time when he's awake so he can develop his motor skills. The director said that she didn't know that. That was a red flag for me. As I mentioned my son is 6 months now and still struggling to sit up. He has no interest in rolling over. For the little time I have with him I work on these areas as the day care has lack in encouraging him to reach these milestones. The other teachers love my son and of courses care for his well being. But I feel like the curriculum is a bit out dated.
