Most recently I dashed out while my mom watched my 8 month old to get a hostess gift for our family friend. I was greeted as soon as I entered by perhaps the owner (a friendly blonde woman). I told her I was looking for specific gifts (cocktail napkins, coasters, and a candle) and she showed me where said merchandise was located in each of the rooms. The store is cozy and inviting, as the name suggests, and is full of beach themed goods for home. It's a great spot for picking out a quick hostess gift, or a clever birthday gift (think cute wooden signs, pillows, cheese boards etc). The store isn't cluttered though it is full of options. I found some beach chair coasters (heavy and substantive), and a lovely candle that had an orange vanilla fragrance and helped feed a hungry child in South America with its purchase. I tried to use my Target card but stupidly didn't realize that it only works at Target.com or in Target stores (I don't have the master card that works everywhere). Oops. I only brought an AMEX but she kindly let me use that. I would have had to go back to our beach house and get my other card. I will be back next time I am in town looking for a gift. Annie, "the Nanny at the Beach," runs the store. It's a pleasure having a conversation with her, and she managed to win my 21 month old son over in a few minutes. This toy store is filled with just the right amount of toys, and the selection is spot on for interests of all ages. Better yet, the store is well-organized and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the prime location (not to mention the exorbitant rent!) My son left with a Melissa & Doug airport truck, luggage carrier, and airplane, a Blue Angels replica plane, a die-cast metal airplane, and a few plastic beach toys. They were having a special event--with info about pertinent gardening topics, and I signed up for a great sea glass Art class with the C Sisters. This center has great plant options, a wonderful gift shop, a variety of monthly art classes (including a series for younger children) and even leads field trips. I will definitely sign up for the private tour of the Delaware Botanic Gardens that they lead. The staff is friendly and helpful, too. Definitely check out this lovely garden center!!
