Tamales are apart of the indigenous food culture of Mexico and if you can't do them justice do not sell them. We had the pork and bean cheese tamales . I've eaten here many times at various farmers markets in Seattle. The smell of the freshly grilled veggies always fills the air. Their quesadillas are generous with fillings and I love the nice crispiness from the grill. I was so happy to see their products at PCC and really love their selections of tamales and burritos. Their products taste home made and lack a frozen food taste that Amy's and some of the other brands have like Reds burritos. Service is always great. I love how each vegetable is treated with respect when grilled and you can see first hand the seasonings. Lastly, my gut always thanks me after eating healthy from Patty Pan. Went to the booth at the Ballard Farmers Market, service was very good! The veggie quesadilla is about $11, so a bit expensive. However, the price is worth it for me for three reasons: 1) they are a local small business which explains why they are at the farmers market 2) they are LOADED with vegetables/nutrients 3) the final product is actually so delicious! read more

The best veggie quesadillas ever, holy shit. I would literally devour buckets of these vegetables, whatever spices they have in that spice blend bucket must have some kind of ambrosia because damn. The tortilla was crispy from the stove top and the veggies were browned and so damn flavorful paired with the cheese in the quesadilla and the sauces they had on the counter. We went to the Caphill farmers market on Sunday for these things, and my god please just have this place open in every farmers market because I need it for every meal. I am such a fan. I know they have one in Ballard as well so really, there's no reason to not have them every Sunday. My friend got a veggie bowl and we split the quesadilla and bowl, and I must say that the quesadilla has magical powers because I was floating after eating that thing. I love vegetables, so it was a definite yes from me, but my friend who doesn't even like veggies all that much was completely sold as well. It's safe to say that my family is a big fan of their veggie and cheese quesadillas. We've had them at the Ballard's Sunday market, EDMONDS farmers market, U district FM, & Lake forest park FM. All summer long, my 2yo literally ate veggie quesadillas almost every Saturday and Sunday. Lol He's not the biggest veggie eater so being able to witness him chow down on their veggie packed quesadillas (made w organic wheat & tillamook cheddar), this mama was most definitely happy! The spices that they use to season the veggies are magical! It's slightly spicy and full of flavor. Next time I will have to ask them about the spice blend. Typically the veggies are seasonal and may include a mix of the following: beets, carrots, onions, zucchini, kale, & cabbage which by the way are all cooked perfectly. This review is for their pork tamales. Can I say, amazing? I found the Patty Pan Collective booth at the University District Farmers Market today. The tamale had that warm, melty homemade tamale taste-- like how tamales are supposed to taste like! Being from Southern California, I'm used to eating homemade tamales made by my Mexican friends around Christmas time. I've been meaning to make these at home! So glad I stumbled upon the Patty Pan Booth-- These were definitely tasty. Texture was soft, pork was cooked just right, flavor. Perks: They accept cash and card. (Yay, because I never carry cash.) They offer "heat and eat tamales" that you bring home with you and heat up. They come in packs of 3 for $8.50-$10 I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Can I give a 3.5 stars? I gave a 4 but felt that was a little too high. Ate at their neighborhood kitchen in Shoreline. The food is good and very fresh. They list the ingredients and what farm they came from which I think is pretty cool. They have a "Humble Feast" every Monday night. Enjoyed a quesadilla and tamale special at the stand at Jubilee Farms, which they are at during the weekends in October. This is a review of the stand they run at farmer's markets: Nice people, but, I got so sick from my veggie quesadilla. So very, very sick. Also, it just wasn't very good? Kale and beets with cheddar cheese isn't exactly a great quesadilla. Maybe other items aren't so bad, and like I said, they are nice people. I eat from Patty Pan Grill weekly and their food is fresh and delicious. You can taste the quality of their products and they primarily source their ingredients from local farms and businesses. Growing up with authentic Mexican cuisine, this food is what I wish my family would cook! The tamales and burritos are lighter and better quality, not caked with fat. This review is for their Ballard Market location. First, we love the Ballard market, lots of great products and people. I noticed Patty Pan's sandwich board sign that offered "Hot Tamales". I thought I would give them a try. The young man that took my order looked either hypnotized or just awakened from a five year nap. Absolutely no personality or energy. I ordered a bean tamale and my partnered ordered grilled veggies. The veggies tasted horrendous,like someone took a leftover dinner salad and threw it on a grill. We tossed it. Regarding my tamale, (after I paid for it) a young woman handed me a little plate with two small tamales and told me they ran out of the adult size so she gave me two kids tamales. I thought it might have been nice if they asked me first so I might have selected something else. I went to the table where they keep their sauces and there was a woman next to me asking them to refill their hot sauce bottle. She was told in a rude manner that they were out and to try one of the others. She wasnt thrilled. I put some green salsa on my tamales. First, the baby tamales were partially cold and partially warm, very dry, crusty on the edges. Oh, and by the way, they had NO FLAVOR WHATSOEVER! I tried to put more salsa on the little buggers and all it did was make them wet and tasteless. read more

Havent been to the patty pan grill, but have had the patty pan at the area farmers market. Its amazing to watch them grill up all those vegetables. There always seems to be a line waiting. Recently had them at the broadway market, much enjoyed my vegan tamale. That is something you can't find too many places and so delicious. I also love that food is half off for the unemployed, what a great socially concious thing to do. I hope people dont take too much advantage of it. I also got a free meal here for joining vegetarians of washington. Another great thing to do. All the other ones were buy 1 get 1 free, this one was totally free. I enjoy the salsa options they have as well. Its always nice to find something out of the ordinary. I did have to wait quite awhile for my vegan tamale, but they did tell me in advance and were super busy grilling up vegetables. Yum and seems like a healthy option. read more

Patty Pan catered our outdoor block party style event for 150 people last weekend. They served a vegetarian taco bar plus side dishes from one of the neighbor's yard. The food was delicious and the guests were highly complimentary; many said they had made multiple trips back to the food tables. Devra and her team brought everything in, set up, served and cleared up the area as they left. This is my favorite prepared-food stand at the farmer's market. The veggies change frequently based on what they get from the farmers, and sometimes it seems like the mixture is too random to taste good together, but it's always great. I haven't had a vegetarian tamale, but I have had the veggie quesadilla and the beef tamales, and they are tasty. The company has a really great philosophy too with their "win-win-win pricing" in regards to their relationships with local farmers. And, as stated before, half-off for unemployed folks helps perpetuate good in our community, which is pretty awesome. read more
