It's a large plate with lots of beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and tomato. Also the pork tamale à la cart is a great smaller plate. The Las Espuelas margarita is made with top shelf liquor and freshly muddled lime, lemon, and orange. Not cheap, but delicious and strong as one would expect. Beautiful interior. If you're not going to make my food correctly, the way I asked for it to be made, then just save us both some time and tell me you don't want my business!!! When I'm paying nearly $75 dollars for a meal, I expect it will be made the way I have kindly asked it to be made!!! Everyone at Las Espuelas restaurant is very nice and the service is always good, but the kitchen staff clearly don't give a śḥíț about putting out quality food the way the customers have asked for it to be made!!! Either that, or they can't read and or understand whatever language the order is written in!!! Wow probably the first Mexican-American sitdown restaurant style spot I've really liked in Seattle and it's so dang close to me. It's ran by an absolute sweetheart of an owner and the staff are the hardest and fastest working folk you've ever seen. They have peruvian and columbian dishes as well so I wonder if there's a lot of influences going on here or just inspiration. You can get your arroz con pollo mexican or peruvian style for example, where I think the peruvian style has cilantro and a red chile paste in it. You can tell everything is handmade with both love and skill, from the delicately crisp tortilla chips to the insanely flavorful beef they serve. Everything here has a 'slightly softer than you expected' quality which can be a mixed bag but gives you this comforting homey feeling when you're having everything. Like you can tell this is fresh hot handmade food but I do wish like the hard tacos were crispier for example. The horchata as well tastes homemade but the texture is a bit thicker, chalkier, and sweeter than I'm looking for. Honestly though whatever you get here is going to warm your heart and soul and make your taste buds happy especially next to the badass staff here that make Las Espuelas an absolute staple for anyone looking for good Mexican north of the city. read more

First of all, I have to mention the theme it had a fun cowboy vibe that felt really refreshing. The restrooms were very clean, which is always a plus. As soon as we arrived, they served chips and salsa, and I have to say, it was one of the best salsas I've had in Seattle. We got there around 5 PM, and by 6 PM the place was packed I can definitely see why. I ordered the Steak Rancheros, which came with rice and beans. Everything was delicious, and the portion size was huge! The service was super friendly as well. We reached there at 4pm on a busy Saturday and they had a lot of people seated and coming in. We were seated in no time with chips and salsa provided on the house. Came here on Cinco de Mayo so we expected it to be full! Sure enough there was a line! We waited an hour in the cold since the restaurant wasn't big enough to wait inside. Even the people were complaining a bit about it so I don't blame them, especially when they say the wait is "15 minutes" or "30 minutes." Other than that con for the wait, the dude waiting in line was right; he totally said this was a place you wouldn't regret waiting in line for because it's totally worth it! And man...were we in for a treat. The menu has a nice variety to choose from. They make blended margaritas! My partner and I went here in early July and ordered WAY TOO MUCH FOOD! I was less than a month away from my due date so I needed aallll the fooood It was so good that we both did a happy dance at our first bites. The service was great and our waiter was very polite and friendly. I highly recommend checking this place out! P.S. Hands down, this dinner was one of the best in my book! We recently moved to the area and a colleague recommended that we stop in since we're just down the street. Needless to say, she was right and I was stuffed barely a third of the way into my plate. You get more bang for your buck and I'm going to have a massive delicious lunch tomorrow! Las Espuelas is an old haunt of ours. We've eaten here for years, and have tried everything on the menu. The owner is a trained chef, and his entrées are a cut above other Mexican restaurants.
