An $8.99 "3 buttermilk fried chicken on our buttermilk biscuits with hot sauce and honey butter" invoked visions of 3 pieces of buttermilk battered fried chicken. You know the kind... legs, thighs, wings... Instead, I received BURNT chicken tenders, and 1 of them was broken to fit on the biscuit! I keep trying and trying Patty's hoping it will be acceptable for the high prices Patty charges, only to leave disappointed time and again. If you enjoy being crassly overcharged for your meal and/or duped by the misrepresentations from the food descriptions, then by all means...Patty's Deli is the place for you!!! As for me... I can't say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. Patty's stands head and shoulder's above every single other restaurant within 20 miles of Georgetown, DE in both food quality and customer service. I work in the Circle in downtown, so I've been to Patty's many times over the last several months. The sandwiches are superb, with high quality ingredients. The steak sandwiches are especially delicious and filling. It's hard to go wrong. But the best way to appreciate Patty's is to explore a bit beyond your standard lunch fare. The cheeses are a real treat, they usually have some excellent samples available for tasting during lunch time. For my wife's birthday, I dropped by Patty's to pick up a few cheeses. Though I appreciate fancy cheese, I'm a novice, and Patty (yes, the owner is actually named Patty) was kind enough to help me out by making some excellent cheese suggestions. But she didn't stop there. She artfully arranged each block of cheese on a cutting board (HER cutting board, which she loaned to me) atop fresh greens, and then filled out the platter with some dried apricots and candied pecans. She carefully wrapped the whole package (~1 lb of gourmet cheese, with a big box of fresh crostini). So, I ended up with a really exquisite gift cheese platter that was far superior to anything comparable I could have gotten from harry and david at a fraction of the cost (the whole thing cost around $30). Do yourself a favor and drop by Patty's whenever you find yourself in Sussex County. read more

This was a little gem we found on our way home from the beach. We didn't want to drive too far off our path just to find a sandwich and this place fit that bill. Less than a mile from route 113, this does not look like much from the outside. Don't let that discourage you. The sandwich and wrap we had were fabulous! Just what we needed to make it the rest of the way home. Only giving 4 stars as there was no place inside to sit down and eat. No other complaints! On my way to the DMV in Georgetown and there it is - Patty's! I've heard so much about this place and once done at DMV I reward myself with a special of the day -- A Reuben Sandwich. I had to make sure and put it in the back seat far out of reach or I know I'd try and take a bite on the way home.,Once home - it was a dream sandwich. Nice LEAN corned beef, some 1000 sauce, some kraut, on slightly toasted swirl rye bread. Not too big but definitely too much for just one sitting. I love leftovers. I'd try any sandwich they put up on the board. Can't wait to go to the DMV again! Haha read more

My wife and I stopped here while visiting friends in Georgetown. What a find! This little deli was fantastic! They had an incredible selection of gourmet cheeses and meats that we hadn't seen since we were in NYC. The people here are friendly and professional and made the brief visit a joy for us. I had the Ted, a delicious combination of Italian meats on a baguette and my wife had the roast beef wth Boursin cheese. Both sandwiches were out of this world!. I have been going to Patty's at least once a week since hearing about the food . I have ordered something different each time. EVERYTHING has been as good as it can get. This week I got a cheese steak. I like them with nothing but cheese and steak. It was the best one I have ever had and I have tried all that Philly has to offer. Great spot for lunch! The slogan is "Everything from subs to the sublime" and it's true. Great sandwiches, a case full of unusual cheeses and a a selection of gourmet snacks and ingredients. Price is a bit high than other places in the area, but you're paying for top shelf ingredients. Gets busy at lunch time and the wait can be a little long, so it's best to call in your order.
