I'm actually kind of disappointed! I went earlier this week to get some BBQ when it was really hot out. I got a bunch of different stuff, but what stuck out to me most was the chicken and the lemonade. The lemonade was not very cold, and the chicken honestly just tasted like grocery store rotisserie chicken. I was very disappointed to see this as I was actually SO excited to try this place!! Come early!! New location for the truck and they had a non-stop line while we were here ordering and eating. The staff was great, offering suggestions and alternative options after they let us know they sold out of several items. The other recommendations they made for us did not disappoint. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of their food. There is a nice seating area just next to the truck, but also at the other end of the parking lot where you can sit and eat near some cows. I have always wanted to try this place. Well... I tried it. I ordered the half chicken, pulled pork sandwich and a half pound of brisket. The pulled pork will be your best option here. It's good and you get plenty of it. The brisket is not brisket, maybe chuck roast, definitely not brisket and definitely not smoked. It had absolutely no smoke flavor or any flavor at all. Despite having a house just a few minutes from this location, it took several months for us to find the perfect opportunity to stop in. We were looking to grab a late lunch and were hoping the typically long line at this place was shorter due to it being off-season and in the middle of the afternoon. We were lucky. Only two other groups were in front of us. We decided to split a whole rack of ribs and a drink. It was a beautiful day and we grabbed a spot at a picnic table under a tree. Just enough shade to enjoy the meal while being entertained by a band playing at the other end of the dining area (it's outdoors and very casual). The ribs were great. Fall off the bone good. The sauces were good. The next tie I want to try the pulled pork sandwich and the beans. We will definitely return. read more

They have closed for their 2024 year and will not be back at their Cave Neck location next year due to future construction at that location. Hoping they find a new location for 2025 as no one does pulled pork and ribs as good as Smokin D's does. I'll miss my Sunday lunch and the interaction with the owner and family. read more

Got the half chicken platter and the chicken was was great! I got the side of Baked beans (pretty tiny portion in about a 2oz container) which has pork so I ate my partner's beans too since he doesn't do pork. It tasted just like Bush's. Which are good beans of course. Hopefully they made it homemade themselves,,, but I don't know, I didn't ask. The roll was pretty basic. A bit hard/dry - not soft so I didn't eat it/like it. He did get extra cornbread and was very disappointed by that. He said it was very dry too. We ended up later at Costco sand got their corn bread muffins because now he was jonesing for it. But definitely stop there when all you want is chicken. Tried the "spicy -it's not that spicy- and classic" bbq sauce. They were both vinegary so I wonder what the vinegar sauce would have tasted like I love vinegar sauces so I dipped my chicken in it. He I guess wasn't expecting that flavor for bbq sauce. Didn't try the brisket or pulled pork sandwiches. I liked the vibe. Pulled up right when the band stopped playing for the day tho. Hubby and I have been wanting to check this place out for years and thankfully the stars finally aligned a couple of weeks ago when we were in the area. We stopped by a little after lunch time and got 1/2 rack of ribs to share, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread and a hot dog for our golden retriever. The 1/2 rack of ribs was colossal and felt like it weighed a couple of pounds - hubby and I could barely finish 1/2 of them. I usually am not a big fan of dry rubs but Smokin D'z changed all that in one bite, I did get a couple of their wet sauces for dipping and both were delicious, my favorite was the spicier one though. All of the sides were absolutely amazing and the corn bread was warm and moist. Hubby snuck a bite of our pup's hot dog and both agreed it was the bomb. The sweet tea is also a must. We actually enjoyed this place so much that we stopped back the next day on our way back home to Baltimore to pick up some more ribs and sides. Pretty sad they are now closed for the season since we'll be back down at the end of the month but we will be counting the days till they reopen in 2022. The staff here goes above and beyond and there are lots of covered outdoor seating and on the weekends they even have a live band plus there's a produce stand in the same lot if you need to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies. read more

We stumbled across this roadside BBQ joint on our way to the beach and were blown away. It's family run with homemade everything! We got the pulled pork sandwiches with a side of beans and coleslaw. Both were excellent but I'd say if you had to pick only one get the beans!! The pork itself was tender and had a great smoky flavor. We could have just split one sandwich and gotten a second bun it was that big. I ended up deconstructing mine a bit (as you can see from my picture). I also got homemade sweet tea. We'll actually half sweet tea and half unsweetened tea because being from up north the sweet tea is a bit too sweet for me but I found out getting a mix is just right. My fiancé and I even got a tour of the pit and learned the history of the business and the fruit stand next door, run originally by their son now taken over by their daughter. We used Smokin' D's to cater our 50th anniversary barbecue celebration. We went for a tasting on-site and exchanged phone numbers which made planning easy. We found Catherine to be a pleasure to work with. She assisted me in developing a menu and was very helpful in determining quantity and variety of food. Their prices were reasonable--and the quality of the meats was excellent. Catherine was comfortable texting with me, always responding quickly to clarify details important to the success of the day. Our final count was due just one week before the event which allowed us lots of time to confirm with our guests. Their catering menu was extensive, but we selected boneless chicken thighs, baby backed ribs and coleslaw. There were three different sauces to choose from, but we simplified things by simply using the classic red sauce. The day of the event the hot items were packed into a 'hot box' at a pick up time that was convenient for us. The hot entrees stayed at a perfect temperature. Because we had sterno supplies, we did not use their set up, but Catherine still carefully explained the procedure to us. We returned the 'hot box' a few days after the event. My guests RAVED about the food. I could not have been more pleased with my decision to have Smokin D's cater my party. read more

The long road back from the Delaware beaches passes past this blink and you'll miss spot off the main road. The gf and I were hungry and we were right between all the places in Rehoboath and *shudder* rest stop Roy Roger's. We pulled in and had a difficult time deciding, even though there are only 4 main items on the menu. While we were deciding another group went ahead of us and the owner wanted to know of a good charity to donate to. Apparently, it's something they do every year, do a fundraiser where all the proceeds go to a local charity, color me impressed. I ended up with the Smokin D dog, while the gf got the half-rack and cornbread. I got the vinegar sauce while I got the hot for the gf while she went to wash her hands. The dog was pretty good, the pork was soft, and the vinegar sauce was delicious. I was still a little hungry but the gf couldn't even finish her ribs. I should have gotten her the vinegar sauce as well because the hot was just ok. There was enough for leftover to make lunch for work the next day so, for $12 it's a pretty good deal read more

This was our first stop before we got to our beach rental.
