The customer service is great. Always very helpful and friendly. However, there are some quality issues that can be improved in future. 1. Carrying bags' craftsmanship are extremely poor. Zippers fall out of the track or they don't line up, and most are difficult to operate. When you are shooting weddings, you don't need bags don't want to open easily. 2. Sewing quality is so poor the Einstein carrying bag started falling apart after 2nd time use. I had to sew them up myself since I didn't even take it out of the box for over a year due to the pandemic and their return policy is only 30 days regardless. 3. Shipping cost is WAY too high. Everything ships via FedEx and I feel like I'm getting charged for freight every time. And if you are not satisfied with the product or ordered a wrong product, you will end up paying for return shipping again. One time, it costs me $25 to return the wrong size of the umbrella I had purchased and I had to pay for another shipping for the right size, so three dippings there. 4. Einstein strobe lighting does not have hi-sync feature. I wish I had known. read more

This place is as good as it gets! Firstly, I order most of my photography gear from PCB, so when I went in person it was exciting. The staff inside the building was extremely helpful and nice af! I had issues with my Cyber Commander (not staying firmly in the hotshoe, and continually dropping/tilting), and they fixed it on the spot within 10 minutes. Great job! Also, when I've had issues with the White Lighting strobes I was helped by someone over the telephone, who walked me through troubleshooting the issue(s). We decided to upgrade to the Einstein's, and I haven't had any issues with those. Thanks for the suggestion! Lastly, because I do not shoot more than once a month or so sometimes when I order things they sit in the box that it was shipped in until the next time I shoot. Lucky for me the one time I had to return something that was technically past the return date PCB understood the dilemma, and accepted the return without issue. Overall I can't say enough good things about the customer service at PCB - both in person and over the telephone this team is fantastic! Hubbs and I come here for his photography equipment. He loves the light he bought here and I love how easy it is to both use and set up. Just make sure you have screwed everything on tightly. I have had the battery fall off and the light shatter because of carelessness. It's easy to use but that doesn't mean you don't have to be crazy careful with it. They sell a couple of different types of lights but we stick to one type recommended to us by a friend. Hubby has said they're friendly and always helpful. read more

I bought 2 lights from here one light, worked while the other light blew up and shorted the breakers at the on site location I was shooting. I am a small business owner and it was very upsetting to have this happen and quite terrifying. So I called twice to resolve this and the people on the phone were quite rude and tried to tell me repeatedly that I would have to pay for the repair once I told them the item was still under warranty they insisted that their still might be a charge. I went ahead and sent it back to them and they returned the light to me. And the same thing happened again. I am so upset at this point I want to throw it away. over $1200 I products and 1/2 of it useless. Long story short Unrealible. read more

First of all, it is important to note that I am very happy with the several thousand dollars I spent on my Einstein's and related products.I even recommended the Einsteins to another photographer who spent a lot more than I did. There is, however one exception. It is the CST2. I bought one in 2016 and used it very little. I doubt that it saw 100 flashes. It was in a drawer for over 2 years while I recovered from Cancer. When I took it out of the drawer, the battery was still good and the indicator light flashed. Hurrah! Not so fast! It no longer triggers the flash units while the Cyber Commander works and so does the PocketWizard MC2. So, how does a solid state product like this fail while sitting in a drawer unless it was defective in the first place? So far, no help from the Paul Buff people. Makes you wonder if this is Paul C. Einstein 640 ------ only 5,567 flashes and ready for the dumpster! For many years, I've been a strong supporter of the Paul Buff products and have recommended them many times. HOWEVER, after the passing of Paul Buff, the company may have changed and for the worse. Today, I spoke with a lady that's been working there for 35 years about repairing an Einstein 640WS flash with only a 5,567 flash count. Everything seems to work fine except it doesn't flash and replacement of the flash tube doesn't help. The flash tube tests okay in another unit. Here's the customer satisfaction killer quote from their website. "(**Customers with an Einstein Flash Unit that has a serial number PRIOR to E64021779, please contact customer service before sending in your unit)." My serial number is older (E64008621) and she was quite adamant that PCB would not even look at the flash or attempt to repair it because it was older than their cutoff serial number. I don't believe the old company would have endorsed such a policy, so now I must re-evaluate my loyalty to a company that turns its back on the customer. 5,567 flashes and just throw it into the dumpster? I don't buy into their new policy and I'm unlikely to do business with such a company. read more

JUST BUY GODOX INSTEAD. Just changed my 5-star review to a 1 star. Have you ever felt betrayed by a brand that you have been an evangelist for? Paul Buff, Inc. is a ghost of who they were when Paul lived. I now understand why everyone is purchasing GoDoxs instead. They have been known for their innovation. That has been gone for years. I'm been loyal because of their customer service. That has been slipping over the years as well. After the recent conversation on the phone with them, I will never cross their threshold again. I have purchased five of their high-end Einstein lights. A part of it broke. The last time I had this exact same issue about a year ago, they charged me $100 to swap out the light for a brand new one. Happened again to another light--quality problem??? This time they tell me they won't repair it at all that I would have to purchase a brand new light. NO REPAIRS AT ALL???? Oh, they were kind enough that they would give me 25% off if I gave them the damaged light. Checked eBay, I could sell it on the market WITH THE PROBLEM for four times what they were going to gift me. read more

Very disappointed about Paul C Buff after being an user/owner of their Einstein flash heads for years. I sent in a head for a small mechanical issue. The prongs that hold attachments like reflectors and softboxes, needed to be tightened. They got back to me that I needed to get a new head which was offered to me at only just under $300. Yes, that is a great discount for a new flash head, but really?? I need to buy a new head because the prongs are loose??? It's like having to buy a new car because a door won't close properly.....not happy. read more

Purchased some electronics and camera accessories through this company website on Feb 29Th 2012, order #2217-5465-5075, the company ignored my order and refused to ship it to my business address, they asked me to wire them money. I refused and they suggested I replace the order and use my home address which I did on March 1st 2012 order #2217-7075-3660. When I inquired about this last order, I was told that they will not ship to me and did not provide any info trying to force me to wire them money. Payment was made via American Express but they refused to complete my order for no valid reason beside the fact that they want me to wire them money which I do not feel comfortable doing. This company seems to be questionable and I need your assistance with my purchase and having this company comply with Fair trade act. These actions are biased and unethical. On both orders, the company simply accepted my order and they were so much of coward that they did not have the guts to email or call with a reason for refusing to complete my order. I am a legitimate business but was treated as an online criminal because of my business being a shipping center in Lowell MA. Guilty until proven innocent, I even placed the second order with my home address but they refused to ship, no explanations given besides forcing me to wire them the money which I will not do. Worst customer service experience! I've had problems with my cyber commander and have shipped it in already 2 times for repairs which has effected my photography bookings. I've waited on the device for over a month. I'm now having the same mechanical issues and realize I'm going to be shipping the device out for repair a 3rd time. I am currently using the Alien Bee 800 and 1600 models with mini battery pack. They work perfectly and more importantly - predictably. I've used White Lightening flashes for over 15 years, when I was shooting film and weddings I drug a speedotron black line kit with me as I got older and didn't want all the weight I purchased 2 1800,s they served me well in and out of the studio, I had one failure and sent it in and it was fixed with no charge the unit was 5 yrs old at least. Paul has been delivering affordable lighting equipment for many years, I no longer have a studio but I keep two WL600's in my closet just in case Strongly reccomend read more

WELL DESERVED FIVE STARS!!!! I've been using Paul C Buff equipment since I started my photography journey 4 years ago. Every time I've called them about questions about new equipment, repairs, or upcoming products they've been very helpful. I called in 2015 to inquire about a Vagabond Lithium Extreme and they were very helpful during their loss of Paul and even shipped me a purple "remembrance" wrist band. No matter what, they've always been on top of their customer service. Well, today I drove all the way from Colorado to Tennessee because I'm on my way to Atlanta to do some work. I decided before I left Colorado to make sure i stop in and see the company because on their website it states, "Our office is open for visitors Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, CT", so I went in and visited and brought in a two broken lights (1) Einstein and (1) B1600. Immediately I was greeted by their friendly receptionist who listen to my diatribe about my journey from Colorado and my enthusiasm to be at the headquarters. Afterwards, she asked for my needs and quickly called someone from the repair center to come over and assist me. The young lady that approached me from the repair center asked me what my needs were, then started to get things remedied. She brought out a clipboard, and snagged my information. She then proceeded to tell me that the Einstein light that I had was outdated, and that they could swap it out for me for free; except the non-warranty repair fee of $45.00 since it was an older light. I almost dropped my jaw and was beyond happy. My other light needed repair and they're were more than happy to ship it directly to my Colorado address. The swap took less than 20 minutes. During my wait there, another young lady along with the receptionist talked to me. They both exclaimed their happiness with working there and how they loved working with the customers they encounter. I left, then returned back in because I had forgotten that I needed a octabox for my fitness photo shoot in Atlanta. Another helpful young lady showed me their show room and allowed me to physically see and feel the products prior to purchasing them (which you can't do online). I purchased the 35" octabox and grid. Seriously, the bar is set high with the character of the employees that Mr. Buff has left behind. For them to be quick, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, selfless with their time, courteous, and above all, KIND...I can't give them any less than 5 stars. The ladies and gentlemen that work here are ROCK STARS!!! After personally working in customer service for over 20 years as a Marine, these guys were above impressive. They easily "tag team" the case work and ensure that things are done correctly. I even made a post on Facebook, that I was there, and I had a fellow photographer ask the question, "Why don't they make a Profoto speedring adapter?", and they even answered that question, "Tell him to go to Denny Manufacturing because they have them. We used to carry them, but there wasn't a big demand so we discontinued them.". To me that's a testament of the legacy he left behind. No matter what anyone says about the owner's political beliefs, they make good products especially for the money and they have OUTSTANDING customer service. AB's are the least expensive studio strobe lighting that proves reliable....they are local and take good care of their customers, and workers seem to have good morale. I've never had an issue with a single item, and most of the items I have bought get used daily. They do offer a student discount, so make sure you ask about it! Great company. I love 99% of their products, and the one thing I wasn't wild about they let me return for a full refund several months later after substantial use. They have great customer service, and an amazing warranty on all of their products. I've been using their umbrellas, strobes and battery system for over 6 years now. For a few thousand dollars you can create a professional setup with their equipment that would cost well over $10,000 from other companies. I have purchased new and used monolights and modifiers manufactured by this company. I have used their products and find they simply work well beyond belief. I also like the fact that their products are very economical and hold their resale value. I recently brought used lights in for service and found Susan and Joe in the repair department friendly, very knowledgeable, and wanting to do a good job repairing the lights. I found their help and advice both reliable and invaluable. I read the negative reviews here and seriously question the ulterior motives of those reviewers. I made an order from them only to get a call the next day saying they can't ship to my address. When I asked why the claimed that because they are a small company the don't ship to mailboxes, but offered to ship it to a UPS Location. I'm sorry but refusing to ship to a secure location, to an unsecured one doesn't make any sense. Apparently they have had issue with "fraud" from mailbox locations who forward mail, but said I could have it shipped to the UPS location, then go online and have UPS change the delivery address online, wait... what? You don't ship to somewhere that forwards mail to another address, but will ship to a location via a company that lets you forward it to another address. I already own an ABR800 Ring Flash, which they refused to take back initally when half the modeling lights didn't work. They sent me new bulbs and a fuse, when that didn't make a difference, they said they couldn't help me any further. Don't bother ordering from them, the online ordering process is painfully difficult, and then they will treat you like crap once they have your money, or in this case, make your life difficult even before that. read more
