I'm disappointed with the turnaround time, delays, installation and service. I paid for a $13K awning in mid-April 2026. The contract we signed noted 3-4 weeks turnaround. The awning was delivered in May but the earliest they could schedule the installation was late June, even though Paul, the owner, told us the turnaround would be 4 weeks from when we placed the order. Then, the scheduling team double booked our install date. I called that day to confirm because they never reached back out and the crew never arrived and that is when they realized they double booked the crew. I had to push for a new install date within a week because at first they didn't take accountability and said it was just a scheduling oversight. During the installation, the crew broke the center arm. They took days to place the replacement order because they couldn't locate the serial code of the awning order. It's mid-July now and the earliest installation is August. I've reached out to Paul several times and lately he has shifted his tone to not take accountability or step in to ensure our installation is priority when the arm arrives, even though he is the owner and told me he would prioritize our installation given his team's errors. My husband and I purchased a Sunesta awning from Paul Construction for $10,000 two years ago, and we are now having trouble getting it to extend properly. The problem appears to be with the arm, a moving part connected to the assembly brackets. When the awning retracts, it clicks and locks into place, and it will not open again without assistance. When I contacted Paul Construction to request warranty service, I was told I would have to pay a fee just to have someone inspect the issue. I offered to send photos and a video to help with diagnosis. Pete, who answered the phone, was rude and disrespectful and told me more than once that he does not get paid enough to talk to customers. Although he agreed to review the photos and follow up, I never heard back. After I called every day for three days, RJ answered and had no idea what I was referring to, but said someone would call me back. When Pete eventually returned my call, he also claimed he did not know what I was talking about, despite our conversation two days earlier. He stated that I must have misunderstood the owner. The owner may be a smooth salesperson, but when it comes to warranty support, this company has been extremely disappointing. They do not stand behind their warranty. If I had known this is how Paul Construction treats its customers, I never would have purchased this awning from them. The awning came with a lifetime warranty, and I am attaching the document the owner provided. I am sharing my experience to warn others: if you are considering this company, do yourself a favor and choose a different awning installer. Four years ago when I bought my home in June, I purchased what I thought was one of the best purchases I could for my new home. A custom automatic awning for my back deck from Paul Construction and Awning. Since that time, I've had Paul Construction & Awning out three times to repair it. The last two times I had to pay $159 visit fee. I just paid another $159 visit fee for this year because it is broken again and does not come out. I have now spent an additional $477 after having paid $5000 cash to have this installed four years ago come June 2025 Every time you call you get the runaround about when someone can come out, they don't show up, then you have to keep calling. I am so highly disappointed that I spent $5000 on something that I have not fully been able to enjoy since purchase. I don't know if it's the installation problem or the quality of the products - either way I spent $5000 and now because it's technically out of warranty after the first year, I always have to pay $159 visit fee and then wait weeks. Initial response very timely, and totally ghosted- and still haven't heard back from them despite multiple attempts. I would NOT recommend them based on this experience!!!! Spoke via email about providing service to the swing arms on the awning as well as new fabric. Paul's agreed on to provide services. After four days an not hearing back I attempting to reach them four more times via email with zero communications returned. The product is fine but your service has been terrible and I'm adding a complaint to Yelp. A part broke, which is understandable after years have heavy rain and wind, and you ordered the wrong part. We had to wait months for the right part and the receptionist kept messing up our service appointments. She seemed disorganized and nonchalant on the phone. Grudgingly we're writing a check for $730. of our hard earned money for inept service today. I will not be recommending your company to my friends and neighbors. The only way to fix this problem is to give us a partial refund. I think the cost is outrageous as the part probably doesn't cost nearly that much and the labor wasn't intensive. read more

Paul and Theresa (and the installers too) were great from sale to installation. When Paul came out to do the estimate he was kind and friendly, not at all a pushy salesman. He worked with us from his experience to decide what would look and work best for our house. We purchased the awning and 3 retractable screens. After a day of ordering I had some questions and minimal changes to my order (color/style). Theresa and Paul where very accommodating **since parts were not already ordered.** Paul and the installers where always on time or would call to communicate if they were running behind (which was rare). Installation was a breeze and very clean. We are VERY happy with our purchase. Our deck is now useable in the afternoon sun and rain and our porch is useable 24/7 because of the mosquitos since we have a green space behind our house. It is our new little slice of heaven!!! Everyone was so respectful and kind. They make me want to do more business with them. read more

We had an awning installed by PS on 8/2/2018. Prior to the installation PS came to our home and reviewed what we would need to have shade under the area of the awning. He agreed that the awning would provide what we needed and the awning was installed. Unfortunately the awning only provided shade on the siding of the house and no portion of the deck underneath the awning which was needed. I placed several calls to his company. I was told he would contact me but he never did. I finally called his private cell and he answered and came to my home to check the awning on Sept 6, 2018. He at that time said we needed another awning over the French doors and a drop down-valance. He offered the drop-down valance prior but never said that the awning would not shade without it. I would have NEVER EVER have spent OVER $4,000 on an awning and not get the shade needed. Now he is saying I need an additional awning and a drop-down valance. He should have informed me initially that it wouldn't shade without it. He said he would send me a quote which he never did. This is so so wrong. He took my money and NEVER provided the service he promised. This needs to be resolved. I want to be reimbursed for the product or they should make the awning work. He was not personable and did not offer any assistance with this. I would never recommend his company and I rate him NO STARS. I also plan to pursue this until this problem is rectified. read more

Paul was very eager to have us sign a contract last Fall when we got a deck estimate. After considering multiple estimates we went with Paul because he said he didn't subcontract and we liked the optional lighting options. When we were ready to get started this Spring Paul wasn't as responsive and took longer to get started. We also were surprised to see it wasn't him building or supervising the building of the deck. Instead he uses other deck builders that he hires (basically subcontracting). The construction of the deck was fine, though when we had an issue and my wife called him upset, he said he wasn't going to talk to her, but needed to speak with me. Not very professional for a man in the business 25 years. The stairs were also supposed to be 4' wide. I happened to measure when they were done and realized they were more like 42". When I asked him about it, he said in construction things aren't always exact. (Really?) I am giving him a C because overall we are happy with the finished product, but there were some issues as noted. Oh, also we wanted to use a credit card to earn point and his Angie's List profile says he accepts credit cards. When I went to do so he told me that they don't accept credit cards.
