I didn't even want to give them one star. This company is awful. I've used them over the past 30 years and never had a problem. I had a tree go down and take out part of my picket fence this was in January. Gave them a deposit of $1,000 and never heard from them again. After calling their office five times and visiting the office twice and then calling another two times, no answer. They have an AI person that answers the phone and that gets you know where. Avoid this company. They were hired in February to build a deck. It is now August and they aren't even close to completing it. The owner Chris is a bully and has given lies and excuses about why the deck was never completed. Also, the work that has been done is second rate. This is without question a company not to get involved with. Chris doesn't know what he's talking about. There is no landlord and there aren't any tenants. The workers were videoed for my own safety after I felt uncomfortable around the group. The house is currently being worked on inside. It's not unsanitary. Anyway, the deck is being built outside, not inside. As for music being played , who knows? People actually live here and do listen to music. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. THIS IS NOT A COMPANY YOU WANT TO WORK WITH. We have a large property and were installing our fence in phases. We used a different contractor than Heritage to install the first portion of our fence - cedar, dog-eared - very standard. To finish the remaining portion, I decided to shop around since I wasn't thrilled with our first guys. The fence was good, but some boards had to be replaced soon after install and I was wary of their quality. So when we had to complete the fence I read the glowing reviews on google and gave Heritage a call. Todd came out, was pleasant, gave us our estimate/contract, and we signed. The fence was installed and looked great for about 18 months. About 6 months ago we noticed a few wobbly spots, but nothing major. Then about a month ago we noticed that the entire length of fence, installed by Heritage, had come loose from the posts, upon closer inspection some nails never even connected the post to the panel, and the fence now leans about 2-3 feet forward and is potentially pulling down the first section we installed 2 years before that one AND our fence that it is connected to, installed 15 years ago and still standing upright. We called them and expressed our very real concern and there was little care or sense of urgency. They sent Todd out one week later. Todd agreed that it was not installed well and they would need to reinstall the posts and he would get back to us. Of course, we assumed he meant, he would get back to us with a time when they would come to fix it. Nope. They sent us a proposal where WE were expected to now pay them to fix their shoddy work. It was about $400 on top of the $2600+ we had already paid. We called the office and spoke with Chris, the owner. He agreed to come to see the workmanship for himself - though only after laughably citing wind as being a likely factor in the fence falling down - and came out on June 3. During our June 3, 2020 conversation Chris mentioned numerous times that the soil was the issue causing all of the posts to become loose and compromise the fence. This runs counter to the opinion of the company's estimator, Todd, who inspected the fence two days earlier and said the reason for the failure was that the posts were not set deep enough. Both also mentioned that pine needles could also have caused the posts to list 30 degrees after just two years, so at least there was some consistency. Apparently the wind and pine needles and clay deviously conspired to only topple the fence Heritage installed and not the adjoining sections installed by other companies. Chris's primary argument was that if Heritage or its installers knew about the clay on the 2018 install date, they would have used concrete, so the faulty workmanship of Heritage was ultimately the responsibility of the homeowner (me). In the proposal/contract there is no mention of clay, any homeowner responsibility to detect clay and notify Heritage, or alternative post-setting instructions should clay soil be found, as Chris erroneously noted numerous times. In addition, clay was never noted by the estimator (either in 2018 or 2020) nor the installation crew. Only when the owner comes out and refuses to stand behind his product is clay cited. In all fairness, I did chuckle when Chris dug his hand into the soil, pulled up some clay, and said "See? This is clay" like he had uncovered some secret substance heretofore unknown to mere mortals. Most egregiously is that when asked if Chris stood behind the workmanship, he responded that he had nothing to do with the company two years ago when the job was complete, yet the 2018 proposal we received was sent from his email address, with a signature for good measure. How this desperate and easily-debunked lie aligns with Hertiage's "family-owned" mantra is something for them to wrestle with. You can see the screen grabs in this post. You'll also note that there is no time limit to the warranty indicated in this proposal/contract, so I am still wondering how he can hold customers to an undocumented, one-year warranty while trumpeting a five-year warranty on his office phone and advertising. We have contracted with a reputable company to fix Heritage's mistakes. Finally, we welcome the inevitable response from Chris where he acts like the measured, rational party. Really looking forward to him explaining away the lie about him not being with the company when the fence was installed. Perhaps we doctored the email address and proposal/contract. In Heritage's world where clay is a mysterious substance only homeowners can detect and pine needles can push over fence posts, I guess anything is possible. read more

Very sketchy company! Today my friend called for me to come over because she was being bullied by the workers from this company. They refused to leave. This is just a warning for everyone to be very careful if you deal with this company.. I would never EVER recommend. I am sorry to say that I could never recommend this company for fence work. Quality control is greatly lacking, customer service is disappointing, even the owner was not very professional. The day of install, the company never showed up or called, we didn't even find out they were not coming until we called them. We were adamant from the very first contact with the company that our neighbors are very particular about their property and that under no circumstances was any worker to utilize their property. We even requested an employee to come out and review the property line prior to install. The owner himself came and reviewed the day before install and assured us that it would be handled with care. Fast forward to the next evening, the fence was half finished by the time we realized that the workers had installed the ENTIRE length of fencing ON OUR NEIGHBOR's property! 10 inches over the property line that was CLEARLY marked and discussed in detail with the owner prior to install. The entire amount of fencing installed had to be ripped out and completely re-done on the correct side of the property line. Needless to say, our neighbors are furious and this has caused even more issues than we had beforehand. What was supposed to be a one day job, wasn't complete until evening of day 3. The amount of headaches that we endured during this process is unbelievable. There are several other issues that I don't even have the time or energy to type at this point. After all was said and done, they did finish the fence, but the whole experience was so distasteful that we will never do business with them again. The crew that installed the fence had us come out and make sure everything was to our liking and a Supervisor showed up several times while the work was being performed also to see if we had any questions or concerns. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY They installed a fence for my neighbor and at no time were they to be on my property. Well guess what they started the day by putting fence post on my property . Then later on I went to ask them not to jamb there digging bar and post hole digger in the ground on my property ,because of my invisible fence for my dog which is marked by white flags, and the foremen told me the white flags were the property line, and I said no the old fence was on the property line. And to also clean up there mess on my property. Later on I heard the foreman talking on the phone to his boss about the neighbor yelling at him about the post bar and post hole digger in the ground. The foreman while on the phone was using profanity calling me names. At 3 o'clock that afternoon when the fence people left, I went to look at there work and notice the fence was on my property. I told my neighbor that the fence was on my property ,so they could tell the fence company when they came out the next time,they need to fix it. The next morning when the fence company came out, I went out to speak to the owner and the foreman that where standing on my property. I was greeted by the owner "WHO ARE YOU" very condescending like I was a nobody. "VERY RUDE!!!" I told him I was the owner of the property he was standing on, and that if he gave me any more sh** ,I would throw Him & his worker off my Property. I walked away. Later on I was working outside my house and I could hear the foremen. Pardon my language but i am only repeating what his foremen said. "I was a mother f***er and a**hole". Because they had to tear the fence out that Heritage Fence Company put in wrong to begin with. And much more profanity after that! Later when I saw the owner (Christopher Caruso) came back, I told him that his foremen was insulting me with profanity. I found heritage Fence through HomeAdvisor. I was a bit nervous since this was the first time I've used this service. Chris from Heritage returned my call immediately and arranged for a free estimate within a day. He was extremely professional and explained all products available to accomplish my fence and railing needs. Snow and rain delayed the start of the project but Chris stayed on top of it and came out to do the job as soon as the weather permitted. We had an aluminum fence and railing installed on the front porch and steps. It took about 3 hours to complete the job. When it was finished - I was more than impressed. My husband said it made our house look new. Our neighbors and friends couldn't believe something so simple could add so much curb appeal. We will use Heritage Fence for all of our future fencing needs.
