Regardless of what work is needed, they always make me feel confident and rest assured that it will be a pleasant process. The up front are equally friendly and wonderful. Novocaine? Pffttt. Easy, peasy. Don't even feel it. Not sure how he does it and don't really care. All I know is that he is the best at administering it. Crowns? Had 6 porcelain crowns placed over my old teeth which had to be 'ground down' a bit and not even an inkling of pain or discomfort. My teeth look fabulous now and I'm proud to smile. Fillings? No pain. Remove silver fillings and replace with white? No pain. The staff is amazing too. From the front desk to the hygenists, to the assistants, they are friendly, they remember your name, they remember your kid's names and more. Looking for a dentist? YOU MUST TRY THIS OFFICE! I stood at the hallway door for 15 minutes as I was the first appointment and they didn't let me in until exactly at 7:00 am. My normal dentist (Dr. Spanel) wasn't there due to schedule changes and they never called to let me know, so he didn't do my exam. In addition they have made the following financial changes..... 1. Charging a credit card processing fee of 3% 2. Requiring you to pay upfront to even schedule the appointment for the work you haven't even gotten done instead of paying on the day you get work done. 3. Have you sign a contract to allowing them to Charge a fee if you don't cancel within a timeframe. ( I've not experienced this but would hope there is some leniency) Either way is very off-putting. 4. They actually have a virtual assistant that answers the phone?!?! Just confirms the lack of interest they have in actually being personable. It's transitional care for financial gain and not focused on the client anymore which is too bad because it was an amazing place.

I found out that Dr. Spanel has sold the practice to a private equity group and he's now working there as an independent contractor. The new owners told the office staff to turn away anybody who wouldn't immediately fill out the MyChart stuff. I was still standing at the front counter discussing the situation when everybody just walked away and left me standing there. I'm glad Dr. Spanel is lining up his retirement, he's a great dentist. The new owners can go pound sand with their demands. Creighton University fills Omaha with batches of new dentists every year, and I am currently shopping for a new dentist.

Generally speaking I have seen very little turnover in terms of employees. I think the prices are comparable to any other dentist in the area. However, this is the place you go for general cleanings, basic care (I did have a crown put in and the procedure went fairly well). This is not where you go if you need more advanced care or if your teeth require more than routine cleanings or fillings, etc but they do a great job at doing what they do!

I am certain that you will not find a better dentists office to go to. Dr Thorfinnson is informative, he lets you know what your mouth needs and how he is going to do it. He is also extremely gentle, I have had a lot of work done here and haven't had one complaint. The few hygienist that have cleaned my teeth here have always been professional and have the same gentle calming attitude that the dentist has. I have not had an uncomfortable trip here yet. Most people wont say that they look forward going to the dentist and that is because they have not been here yet. Doc Thorfinnson and his team are the best I have been to.
