I checked the billing and noticed a dental scan was not being covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield. At the time, the hygienist assured me all procedures would be covered my insurance. I called the billing department and was told my insurance rejected the panel scan as being unnecessary. They, of course would not waive the charge. I told them this business practice was unbecoming, unethical, and very misleading. I should have paid attention to the earlier Yelp review of a similar incident over a billing incident at this practice. I will NOT be returning back to this practice.

When I checked out I was told that my insurance would not cover any of the services I received or a new partial plate that had to be made and I had to pay $4000 up front!! The financial representative was quite rude and pushy. I told her that I would pay for services received that day and the rest when I received them but she said they needed the $ up front to pay the lab. I find it hard to believe that the practice had no operating expenses! I paid the $4000. Two months later, after contacting my insurance carrier, I found that the claim was filed incorrectly and some of the services I received were covered and I had been overcharged. I made several attempts to contact the financial representative at the office and she would not return my calls. When I finally reached her she told me that refund was being held for some insurance policy that I signed for on the new partial. That was the first time I was told that such agreement existed! After three months and my insurance payment made to the practice, I finally got the refund. When I picked up the check I requested paperwork on the work completed as well as my treatment plan. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this dental office due to the rudeness and inefficiency of this person on their their staff!

Any dentist that I have ever been seen by never has had anything else other than meds I cannot have. The dentist eased all my anxiety, carefully listening to my history and letting me know, she knew what I needed and how to do it safely. OMG what a relief, I have gone 10 years always being told you need to be in a hospital setting. Its too risky for me to see you as a patient. I burst into tears honestly. I thought that would be my "forever situation." Fortunately, they helped me through the proceedure. Offering me something I could take pre-procedure to numb the area without inhibiting my breathing or raising my heart rate. I soooo very much appreciate them. They told my husband he should go every 3 months (he went even though he had to pay out of pocket for one of the cleanings every year). I had extreme pain in my front tooth because of a possible injury when I was younger. I saw Dr. Thorson, who is absolutely wonderful!! She saw me right away and referred me to an Endodontics practice. The practice that accepted my insurance couldn't get me in for over a month. Dr. Thorson stated to me in front of the dental hygienist that "if I ran out of antibiotics before I got into to see the Midwest Endodontics that all I needed to do is call her up and she would prescribe some more to get me through until I could see them for the root canal." Unfortunately, she went on maternity leave (which I totally understand) BUT the office manager (Danica Wicht) had no back up plan for her. When, I called some dental hygienist that I had absolutely no prior dental relationship with called me and stated to me "that they don't do that". She also kept saying "she wasn't in the room with me" I told her I knew that she wasn't in the room with me. I kindly asked her if she had my chart to look at and she said no. I was very shocked that a medical professional that hadn't been in the room with me (her own words) wouldn't have the chart to rely on. She never asked me my pain level either. Not one time during our phone conversation. Very disturbing as when you look at Total Dental's website they describe themselves as dental anxiety experts with over 40 years of experience. I asked to speak to an office manager and Dr. Courtney Molettiere got on. This woman needs to never me in medicine or dental care. Her bio reads "One of my favorite things about my profession is the chance to build relationships with patients" She is not an experienced Dentists. Read her bio and prior reviews about her. Highly do NOT recommend her. Very immature and never even read my chart before talking to me. You can see from other reviews, that other patients have said that EXACT same thing that I'm saying about Dr. Molettietiere. She was rude, unprofessional, never looked at my chart. Also found out later from the Practice Manager, that she shared information with 3 other people in her office (that was not necessary) and a complete violation of HIPPA. My medical information should only be shared on a need-to-know basis. They should realize that. In addition, I paid out of pocket for X-rays and was not even notified of the costs upfront. This practice has very inexperienced Dentists. I've gone to Dentists across the country my entire life AND never experienced the unprofessionalism of this office including the practice manager who called me from her cell phone in car and didn't even have my chart or information to know what she was referring to. The only thing she could say is she knew everyone in the "Office for 10 years" This should be handled using actual facts like a business NOT a like a friendship. In short, you have TONS of options in Elkhorn. I found another Dental practice within a few hours for my husband and me that honored both our military service and was kind and friendly, verified my insured, gave me upfront costs. Read their website of what they promise and then read the many reviews of patients that have actually visited this horrible dental clinic specifically the Elkhorn, Nebraska clinic. Highly DO NOT recommend this horrible practice!

After dead silence, i was told to call back "when I figure it out." This is not a reflection of the level of care I received; I received none. In the past, I have contracted a cold or illness before a scheduled medical appointment. These issues happen but this provider was going to charge you a hefty fee for calling to cancel an appointment 48 hours ahead of time...ridiculous. The one that bothered me the most was the transfer fee if you decided to go to another dental provider. This is when I decided not to use this dental practice. I understand when you fail to show up for an exam but when responsible people are being 'nickeled and dimed' this is where I chose to seek another dental practice.

I read the review below and still want to know what "Karen" felt was incompetent other than her opinions that her dentist shouldn't go on vacation and assuming that sharing a bottle of wine makes one hung over. All I read was that Karen sound like a really enjoyable person to be around (insert sarcasm). Although, if Karen speaks to your inner self, this office certainly isn't for you. Dr Reed and her staff are a breath of fresh air and you can go in and talk like a normal person. No annoying, higher pitched fake professional talk. In the two years of living here, I've had conversations about our kids, family, hawaiian/asian heritage, her knitting conferences, and (gasp Karen!) expensive Rothy's shoes. My husband had a gnarly mouth bc he's scared of the dentist and they've worked with him on schedule to get his cleanings regular. My daughter (now 2) had her first dentist visit and loved it. Thanks to Dr. Reed and staff, my daughter won't end up terrified of a dry scary dentist like my husband is. Now let's move on to me. I don't have anything crazy going on with teeth as I took care of them, however I had been for the past decade considering putting caps on my teeth for aesthetic reasons. Dr. Reed is the 3rd dentist in 3 states I've lived in that I've asked about. She is the only one that discouraged me to do it due to my teeth being in great condition, but said that if I wanted to proceed I should meet with a ortho to make sure that my bite wouldn't be compromised by my teeth. Sure enough, I got a second opinion by another dentist and they said that was the best advice and if I would've listened to the two others that were willing to do it and collect the money, I would've had bite issues. In conclusion to this embarrassingly long review, Dr. Reed's office is a gem and the care has been great.

It seems like this clinic nickels and dimes. Their work isn't that great of quality, and they push…read moreunnecessary, or more expensive procedures. They twice told me I needed a crown instead of fillings. I got one of the crowns done, and then switched insurance to a very expensive one so on Jan 1st I'd be able to get the other one done. (They were not happy I wanted to wait a month and a half to get a crown). I saw a new dentist in January and he said I just needed a deep filling, and looked over my X-rays and said I never needed the first crown. They upsold me on a laser gum treatment and told me insurance would cover it.... It covered $40? I paid the remaining $150 out of pocket. I also got a bill from them 7 months post service saying insurance didn't cover something. When I looked at my insurance, it was denied for failure to submit the claim in a timely fashion. It took 3 phone calls before I finally said: "it looks like it was denied because it wasn't submitted by your staff on time, is that what you're seeing on your end" and magically the bill disappeared. Great personalities, terrible people, terrible treatment.

A major plus for me is that I feel like a patient and not a costumer. There isn't any pressure to buy the most expensive treatment. She just explains your options and lets you make the decision. This is a small office and it doesn't have a high tech feel to it the way some of the chain places do. There aren't any amenities, but I don't come to the dentist for a spa day. I come for treatment with someone who is competent and honest. I feel very lucky that Dr. Belitz is my dentist.
