I switched to Dr. Rubin because good recommendations came from two people I trust. The office is a lot nicer than other dentist's offices and the dental hygienists are really great. They don't make you feel bad for not flossing, they are gentle, and they know your name. Dr. Rubin has the softest touch too! I got my mercury fillings removed and it was enjoyable! Dr. Rubin was by far the only dentist I had ever truly adored and who I felt most genuinely cared for at the time that I saw him. I first saw him because I was looking for a holistic, mercury-free dentist. I had problems from poorly-done fillings from my previous dentist, and he did his absolute best to fix the damage (and further decay) that had been done as a result of them. Both him and his hygentists were friendly and warm, and they really made me feel at ease, which is a big thing for me with my anxiety involving needles in my mouth! I never had a bad visit - even the ones where filling and drilling were involved. I was relieved when I found out they offer CareCredit because I was without dental insurance and fixing all those poor fillings really added up. Being able to make payments really saved me financially. I am so, so sad I had to move away from him because at the time of this writing I have not found any dentist that matches his caliber! He provided valuable information on this procedure before, during, and after, so I felt comfortable in understanding what to expect. I have been a patient of Dr. Rubin for over 20 years now. I am very pleased with the consistent service and gentle care that I receive from his office. I have followed him to his new practice in the Northgate Area. His building is very beautiful and welcoming. You come in and feel relaxed and at ease. Dr. Rubin was the first Holistic Dentist in Seattle which is why I've been with him for 20 years. He uses mercury free dentistry as a means to deliver health to his patients. I read the reviews on here and feel that many of them are false for indicating that his office is slow to call back. The other one says that billing is paid in full at time of service, this is how all products and services work unless you find an option for credit. I recommend this dentist to everyone I know. I found him through the PCC Sound Consumer newsletter and noticed his ad because he practices biodentistry, is mercury-free and abstains from using flouride. He is not your parent's dentist! A true breath of fresh air. Dr. Rubin uses every new and safe technology such as digital x-rays instead of conventional. His hygienists are warm and approachable. A great dentist, great cleanings and the newest information regarding advancements in the industry whenever I come in. Dr. Rubin is the most gentle dentist I have ever seen although all my dentists were good. During procedures, he is meditatively quiet and attentive, only talking to respond to me or communicate with his dental assistant about the work at hand. Some other dentists chat with dental assistants about their cabins, vacations, etc. which makes me feel invisible and makes it harder for them to notice if I am trying to get their attention. I had my mercury fillings removed by him last year in two appointments. Although there were a few issues such as my typical difficulty getting the gums adequately numb, he worked it out and even told me that he was going to do some research before the next appointment to figure out why that happens to me. At the second appointment, he was able to achieve rapid numbing of the gums due to that research. His dental assistant was also also kind and responsive to my needs. His hygienist was also more gentle than others I have seen. Overall, the experience of getting several fillings removed and replaced with biocompatible materials was far better than I expected. We are lucky in the Seattle area to have a choice of biological dentists--Dr. Rubin is the best fit for me. read more

The BBB does not accept complaints regarding the "ability" of a dentist / doctor, so the best thing to do is type my review of this practice. I had an excellent dentist in the Bellevue area, but I decided to switch because this practice is advertised as holistic and mercury free in the PCC monthly newsletter. If I could give -1000 stars to this dentist I would. He might be personable and nice, but that is not enough to keep you and your mouth healthy. I came to this dentist with perfect health and his inability to prevent / clean teeth cost me over 10K to restore my teeth health due to his negligence. He did my routine twice a year cleanings. While in his care, and after having my regular cleanings, I made appointments (yes multiple) and explained that a tooth bothered me. He told me that it was nothing, and each time he saw me was 251.00 dollars. He did not do anything but said that it was nothing. Well that "nothing" was a dangerous and fatal tooth infection. It took so long after I told him that that tooth bothered me that probably a little preventable cavity evolved to be a horrible tooth infection. Let me be clear, it took several months. How does a person get to this point after having excellent dental care and cleanings every 6 months? Well, by switching to this dentist practice. As a result I had to have extensive and very expensive number of procedures done, over 10K, and of course not by this dentist. Never, ever. I had everything done by professionals. If you are looking for a mercury free dentist, simply go to a reputable dentist (or stay with your dentist if you are happy) and ask them not to use mercury fillings, but really that is outdated and no one uses mercury anymore. Save yourself and don't switch to this dentist. read more

While visiting Dr. Paul's office. I found the employees helpful, informative and courteous. However, billing leaves much to be desired. This office requires payment in *FULL* after each visit. They ensure they will promptly submit to your insurance company. My first visit was fine, got insurance refund approximately one week later. My second visit, they submitted the first billing twice to my insurance company. Called to have the insurance corrected several times, front desk is non-responsive. Front desk has continually failed to return calls. This is an epic failure. A month later, I am still waiting for them to send the correct form to my insurance company. I expected much better attention to refund payments if they expect payment in full each visit. I am left with the feeling that all they care about is getting paid, and not refunding my insurance coverage in a prompt and timely matter. After leaving multiple phone messages and being ignored does not make for a pleasant billing experience. You lost a customer with this negligence to insurance coverage. Never thought I'd write a 5 Star review for a dentist, but Dr. Rubin and his staff have definitely earned these! Wish I could give them more stars! Everyone at the office is kind, patient, and understanding. He replaced my mercury fillings safely and provided referrals for mercury detox. Dr. Rubin, his staff, the office, and the service is all as good as I can believe it gets when it comes to going to the dentist. I have had several cleanings at his office, but recently had my first small filling. My previous filling experience was really not good, and I came into the whole experience very nervous. He is such a calming presence, has a very steady hand, and was extremely confident as well as compassionate. He explained each step of the procedure, which I very much appreciated. He works to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible and doesn't push towards fillings you don't really need as some form of "prevention". Really, this doctor and his team are top notch. Billed as a holistic dentist, if you ask about holistic services, you are given a referral to another practitioner who you will have to pay separately. I was told I had to have very expensive deep cleanings, which I did. I was sick and unable to make it to appointments after that for awhile. Eventually I was able to go back, and they refused to do a regular teeth cleaning, saying I had to do the expensive deep cleaning again, as a regular cleaning would "do no good." I was charged for this "assessment," but never saw the dentist, so have no idea who was deciding this. Based on their response, I assumed no one would do my dental cleaning and didn't go to the dentist for about 5 years after this. This office did no education on appropriate follow up care to their expensive procedures, and simply refused to provide any care other than very expensive procedures. Skip this dentist, as my experience with them caused me more harm than good. Eventually I found a great dentist, who assured me that I needed regular cleanings often, not expensive deep cleanings. read more

I first went to Paul in 1981 and he remained my dentist for over 25 years while I lived in Seattle. I never realized how special he is until I moved away and had to find another dentist.
