From the time I had made my appointment over the phone to exiting the office, I have never been so completely satisfied and happy to be at a dentist appointment! No, really. I had contacted another local dentist facility to make an appointment after moving to this new area. I had a pretty top of the charts horrible experience and after they cancelled my dentist appointment without asking me, I knew it was time to move on! I was a bit disheartened by the treatment from the other clinic, but from the moment I walked in, the receptionist had me laughing and smiling. She's absolutely a delight to see and you can tell that she really loves her job and the people she works with. I don't blame her! The assistant that helps the dentist is absolutely hilarious. I've never talked and laughed so much during a dentist appointment before. She truly brightens your day. The dentist is so knowledgeable and kind, I knew I could trust their opinion. They even provided me with a reference when I mentioned I had my retainers, yes, eaten by my dog. I just finished going to the Dentist and had (4) fillings today. First thing is I don't have much problem with needles sticking into my body except for in the mouth. So I had at least (4) sticks into my mouth today and my lower part of my mouth and my tongue is so numb that I cannot feel anything . I am not sure if any of you out there had this strange feeling. I feel like my saliva are in my bottom half of my mouth that needs to go somewhere but it feels like it is sitting below my tongue. But I do want to say that Dr John Cheng of the Lake City Dental Clinic is very good as a dentist and he takes good care of his patience. So I do recommend that if you need a good dentist than he is the man to do the job. read more

Nothing but excellent service here for me! I've been a patient for over a year, and had a way better experience than my previous (and terrible) dentist! For the majority of my time here, I worked with Dr. Patty Huang, who I found to be quite excellent. She was patient, descriptive and just did awesome work. Never felt rushed or like any of my concerns went unheard. Recently, the office was bought, and now Dr Cheng has taken the helm. He's young, interesting to talk to, and also top notch at his work. Pain free, efficient and good chair-side interactions. The office staff is also helpful and great--I'm moving soon, and they were quick to provide me a full copy of my records and x-rays to help facilitate my transition to a new dentist. It takes me a while to get comfortable with a dentist, so I'm bummed to not be coming back, but would happily recommend them. read more

We love the staff and dentists at Lake City Dentistry. The staff is very friendly, and Dr. Yamaguchi is very skillful. We like how he constantly checks in with the patient and explains the process. We also appreciate that he gives the cost options and recommendations. He even removed some stains from my teeth for no extra charge. We found the office clean and relative the prices are inexpensive. They even found an error and solved some of our insurance billing issues. Highly recommended. read more

What a difference a change in ownership can make! The practice at 3340 NE 125th Street has been purchased by Dr. John Cheng. They reached out to me as a former patient to see if I'd come back. I'm very glad that I did. The atmosphere in the office is decidedly more professional (no loud office personal chatter between staffers about unsightly rashes and other inappropriate personal matters...). The new team of Melanie and Lela are a joy to interact with. Dr. Cheng cleaned my teeth personally and honestly, he was so gentle and his water pic descaler was so quiet, I nearly nodded off during the procedure. Lela finished up the flossing, polishing and fluoride treatment and my teeth look and feel amazing. read more

I've been Dr. Cheng's patient for a few years now and he's one of the best dentists I've been to. Kind and gentle. I have a filling on my front tooth that was done at a Bright Now Dental and every time he flosses it I flinch and he tells me he might want to re-do it, but we'll keep an eye on it. Not pushy at all. Never makes me feel like he's putting one past me. Very transparent and takes his time. I had to get two teeth removed because I was getting ready for braces and he literally cracked them out of my jaw by hand. I started crying in the middle of the procedure, because the noise was scary and I was sad I was losing two teeth. He paused and let the assistant comfort me, until I was ready to finish. The assistant held my hand the whole time. It's a very small office and I believe he owns the practice himself. He is the one that cleans my teeth. read more

I can't begin to say how happy I am with Dr, Yamaguchi. I trust when he tells me teeth that need work to not be an elevated amount (I previously had a dentist tell me I needed to work on 14 teeth when Dr. Yamaguchi only found 5). He is friendly and sat with me to look at x rays and make sure that I understood what he would be doing and why he would be doing it. He was respectful of my difficulty getting in for numerous appointments and did his best to get as much done in 1 appointment as possible. During the work, he listened when I said I was in pain and made sure that I was properly numb before proceeding. I'm really impressed! I went in to get my wisdom teeth removed, all four of them. I was facing a deadline because my insurance was running out, and they accommodated me with short notice. I was a bit nervous about the potential pain of having the teeth removed. But there was literally no pain whatsoever, and it only took Dr. Chiang a little over an hour to pull all four of the teeth. I recently swiched dental plans and am a new patient here. I've had a great experience so far. The place is under new management. Melanie was organized and quickly called me back to schedule an appointment. Lela (the dental assistant) was extremely perceptive and sensitive to patient comfort (easily the least painful full mouth x-ray series I've ever done). Dr. Cheng had excellent chairside manner, clearly knew what he was doing, and didn't seem in a rush. I'll be going back for some work soon and plan to stick with these folks for the forseeable future. read more

I finally found Lake City Dental Group and I couldn't be happier. The Dentist is kind, and very professional. And he is gentle in my mouth which I find very important. His assistant is wonderful, and so caring. The woman behind the desk in the lobby is so sweet. Plus, she gets me the information I request right away. I haven't met a friendlier group in a long time. I visited Dr. Huang from Lake City Dental Group, for teeth cleaning in July 2014. By Oct., I received a bill that says I own them $80+. I was surprised because I double checked that the service I requested is free of co-pay before and after the operation. So, I called them, they said they will take a good look of it. Since I never heard back, I called them againin Dec., and they told me I do own them &100+ because instead of teeth cleaning, they throw me a service called Root Plane/Scale, which has 20% co-pay. I tried to talk with the dentist, but they rejected me and told me there must be a mis-communication. How can we have mis-communication when we both talk in Chinese? A teeth cleaning request ends up with $600+ bill and $100+ co-pay. OK, mis-communication it is, I do not want to waste time on this anymore. I just simply change a dentist. read more

So, my family has been with this dentistry for a few years and we like the dentists. We never had any problems until I had to make a co-pay. I had to have a crown replaced and this office person overcharged me by $124. I checked with my dental insurance and they confirmed how much was my co-pay. When I told this woman that she overcharged me, she said they don't give refunds and it will be credited to my account. I told her it was her mistake and that it's not acceptable that she is not giving me a refund. She said that it's their office policy. So we plan to bring this up to our dental insurance about their overcharging and we plan to change dentists. Just beware when you have to make a co-pay. Make sure you have your amount checked with your insurance first before making any payment. Or better, change to another dentistry that is run professionally. read more

I went to this office for a couple of years and saw Dr. Chiang, Dr. McIntosh and Dr. Yamaguchi at various times. They were all very nice overall. However, while "nice" is nice at a medical office, other factors must take priority, namely the dental care and the billing. Because they are so nice and you will notice that also, I'm writing a long review as a cautionary tale to others who might consider this office. In short - watch your back (and teeth and bank account!) I had several crowns done there. I had no pain or complaints about the teeth but the fillings were old so the crowns were recommended. After the 2nd crown, I started experiencing extreme pain and sensitivity right after the procedure. I was unable to eat on that side of my mouth. I went back to the office several time over the next ~10 months but was told to take OTC anti-inflammatory meds and watch it . One of the last times was days before I was to going on a business trip for 10 days when I complained on the same pain and throbbing. A few days into the trip, it became unbearable. Then I noticed my face swelling. It was severely infected. I urgently needed antibiotics and a root canal. I understand being conservative but I was upset that this hadn't been caught and that I hadn't been sent to a specialist before the trip. (I have insurance so this was no an issue.) The specialist who did the root canal actually had to delay filling it it because the infection had been allowed to get so bad that I needed to stay on antibiotics for a couple of weeks before. Another crown I received from the office just fell off (after a year or two?) one day also inconveniently while I was traveling. I had to go back to get it replaced (and yes they charged the insurance and me the co-pay for this.) Then there was the billing. My insurance rejected the 2nd crown (the one that had no pain/issues before and then all the problems after) as medically unnecessary. Ok, I can accept that insurance is tricky even for people who do it full time. After that, I asked that they receive pre-approval for all future crowns before the work was done. So for the 3rd crown (yes, I was still going to them after all of the above!!) I was told this was done and all was Ok. I trusted them. I paid by $3-400 co-pay and got the crown. Trusting them was a mistake. The insurance rejected it again. Lake City Dental sent me a bill (the FIRST bill mailed to me was an overdue notice with a late fee because of the time it took for the insurance to reject it.) Even this bill was incorrect because they still have limits set by the insurance company on how much they can charge me even if I have to pay the full amount AND they didn't credit me for the co-pay I had paid. It took months of wrangling. In the meantime I asked several time what happened to the pre-approval and the woman basically told me to show her proof (they TOLD me...I wasn't recording the conversation! I trusted them!) I kept asking what happened and they finally just started to ignore me and sending me threatening billing notices. I finally paid it. I found out from my insurance that they sent a note confirming how much they would get paid if it was approved (watching their own back!) but not one seeking approval for me. Almost $1500 later that tooth that also had no issues/no pain is having problems and might require a root canal. I am going to a different dentist. That dentist has called the office several time asking for my records and they don't answer or respond. It's awful So much for "nice". read more

I have been taken my youngest to see Dr Cheng for a few years now. Office staff is very friendly. My daughter has special needs when it comes to dental care and the office was always has been able to accommodate that. I have moved her from a previous practice because they were pushing conscious sedation really hard. Dr Cheng actually can work with my kid and listen to her wishes (she does not like anesthetic). Dr has been very flexible and has a great bedside manner with even his smallest patients. read more

They have also done cleanings for my two young daughters, ages 5 & 3, and they are gentle and nice with them. They said they would refer to a pediatric dentist for any major work, but they are very good with my kids so far. read more

I have only met with Dr. Chiang twice so far. The first was a "getting to know you" appointment and the second for routine maintenance. I barely waited al all to see him. His office is bright, clean, attractive. His assistant was lovely and very friendly. I had a lot to say and he gave me lots of time to say it. He listened, made useful observations, and was straightforward with his opinions and recommendations. He is very approachable, extremely nice and, of course, has a gorgeous smile. read more

I started going to this office in early 2014 and I've seen three -- count 'em three -- dentists at the location in less than two years. Dr Molly was there on my first visit. I loved her, but she was gone by my next cleaning. The next dentist lasted a year or so and didn't really impress me, especially after Dr Molly. Yet another doctor, together with a new assistant and receptionist were there by last spring. I was getting used to a revolving door. But I went back today and -- happy surprise!!-- the same team that saw me earlier this year is still there. Dr Cheng, whom I'd met last time, is now the owner, and he and his assistant Lela really know how to clean teeth. My appointment today took longer than they expected because I get big buildup on my teeth after just four months, but they still did a thorough and professional job and my teeth looked awesome afterward. I see Dr. Molly McIntosh and had to post a review because she is the best dentist I have ever had! When working on your teeth she is very gentle and goes out of her way to make sure you are doing okay. I was also impressed that she erred on the side of conservative when treating my teeth- something I really respect as a health professional! This means avoiding unnecessary procedures and gave me even more confidence that she is an honest dentist (although you can tell as soon as you meet her) My husband and I have nothing but great things to say about her! read more
