But be prepared to deal with a dentist with bad people skills and whose office makes a lot of mistakes that he will not own up to. Usually, I just ignore the mishaps to make things easy as I don't go to the dentist much. But today, when I arrived for my appointment that I had carefully coordinated with his staff to make sure the appointment would be done in time for me to leave by 12 for an orthodontist appointment, I was told that I had an appointment scheduled at 12 for a cleaning. What I find unprofessional is the insistence on Dr. Koepke's part that I had made this appointment and was then backing out on my obligation. His office made a mistake but quote Dr. Koepke "My office doesn't make mistakes." And then he called me a Karen. So, overall Dr. Koepke is both incompetent and socially unskilled. There's far better dentists out there. I really suggest you spare yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. read more

I can't believe I am the first person to review this office! Positively wonderful! Most of their patients are military families because that's the area where they are located. The front desk staff is always friendly. They remember your name and are genuinely kind. It's because Dr. Koepke is really good to his staff and it shows in their attitudes. I went to Paul Koepke for regular dental needs. Looking back, I wish I would have had second opinions since he really wanted to do a lot of work...more than any other dentist had ever said. I went ahead and did fillings for what he said were cavities. I know better now and my mouth will never be the same. The work seemed to be fine, but didn't like his manner in how he discussed things and used defensiveness and words to make you feel guilty if you didn't listen to him and do what he said. Also, I felt that him and the office were not up front about expectations of things that may come up and their possible costs when going to a specific appointment. For example, if x-rays were determined to be needed at the visit in this situation, this is what the cost would be. When I returned after a couple years of not going because of an emergency, they did fit me in to file down a sharp chipped tooth that was hurting my cheek and a couple or so days later for the procedure (the good). But when I went, he had an attitude that I hadn't been there for two years and used condescending wording in our conversation. When he filed down, he asked if it felt ok before he stopped and I said just a little more, since it was still a bit sharp. He made a face and took a breath like I was a bother and he just wanted to stop. I felt very uncomfortable and thought twice about moving forward. But, I'd started in this situation and it was urgent, so went ahead with it, hoping he would be gentle. Before going in for the procedure, I was told ahead of time by phone that there would be a discount if paying with cash, but I wasn't told that I needed exact change. After the procedure, when I was gassed up, in pain, numb, puffy, and had cotton stuffed in my mouth for the blood, the girl I would pay said I needed exact change. She couldn't break my larger bill and offered no help to make change from another source. I asked if she could ask her co-workers. When they couldn't she sent me next door to do it. I had to walk over to the gas station and with cotton in mouth, barely understandable and out of it, asked the cashier for change and walk back to finish with paying. After I left I couldn't believe the poor customer service that I had to do that at that time. Especially since the staff seemed nice and helpful up to that point. I haven't returned to that office since. Another dentist that I've been going to since, easily solved a problem that Dr. Koepke wanted to address by only a custom made mouth guard, which I got. It was expensive and I hated it. The new dentist solved the issue by just shaving down the tooth a little that touches the ones below causing the problem. Such an easy solution and cost nothing extra! read more

I came to Dr. Koepke's office shortly after he bought the practice. He brought with him the care and customer service of the Mid-West and a hunger to always improve and continue his education. This is reflected in a happy staff, new equipment, an office facelift a few years back, and the conversations we have about the new things he has learned. The office focuses on hygiene and proper long term mouth maintenance vs the more expensive straight up damage control I have seen other offices focus on. Dr. Koepke and his staff help me try to avoid that route. Over the years I have referred many friends and colleagues, they are all still clients and thank me for the referral! I'm always nervous about going to the dentist because it stresses me out, especially when it involves getting a shot. Dr. Koepke was very gentle, he numbed the tooth area really well and when he gave he shot it was easy with no pain involved. I can't rave enough about the positive experiences I've had with Dr. Koepke and his entire office. I moved to San Diego 4 years ago and needed to find a dentist so I made the mistake of going to a dentist that was only convenient to where I lived. (Big mistake). I went to that dentist for a few years and had one problem after another. Believe it or not I had 2 crowns done with that other dentist that came out a total of 6 times! I got referred to Dr. Koepke and extremely glad that I did and made the switch over to him. What I like about him is that he doesn't try to do everything in his office. I had some problems with a few teeth which he referred me to specialists. My old dentist tried doing everything he could himself and it's clear he shouldn't have. I had two crowns done with Dr. Koepke and he is extremely patient and explains everything in detail about the procedure. Even during the procedure he tells you what to expect and his staff is all very friendly from his assistant during procedures to the girls up front that handle the billing. Excellent patient rapport! It's a bit of a drive for me based on where I live (near Fairbanks Ranch) but it is well worth it. I've been coming to this office for about a year now and I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Koepke, Melissa and the rest of the cheerful staff! I had some filling replaced at my previous dentist and they had fallen out THREE TIMES in less than two years! Needless to say, I was in search of a competent dentist. I came to Dr. Koepke and he explained how a filling cant be "glued back in" like the last dentist kept trying to do. He also noticed several areas of concern with decay. It was almost like the previous dentist was purposely doing a horrible job to keep me coming back! Anyways, Dr. Koepke fixed the filling that kept falling out and cleared up any problem-prone teeth. I like the fact that he explains what he will do and doesn't make things confusing with unfamiliar terms and complicated procedures. He also suggested using ACT Fluoride Mouthwash nightly to maintain good healthy teeth. I went back for my cleaning yesterday and the results were dramatically improved since my first visit last year. At my old dentist, a bi-annual cleaning was a 5 minute deal. Sit down, scratch a few teeth, floss and rinse out. Done! At this office you're actually receiving a thorough cleaning! Melissa has done an awesome job and she gave me a sample toothpaste to repair enamel for maintenance. She also demonstrated the correct way to floss! I have been flossing every night but it isn't effective if you aren't doing it right! I appreciate all the help! Char and Danney are the two ladies in the front that greet you with a smile when you walk in. I've been seeing Dr. Koepke for about 8 years now, which is a testament to how much I like this place. The office is tucked away across from the fire station next to Farb Middle School. Parking is never an issue. Dr. Koepke is professional, yet accessible and friendly. Dentist's offices can be a nerve wracking place with all of those tools that can pass for torture devices, but he's very calm and patient. His office staff is also great! All of the ladies there are so friendly and great at what they do. They run an efficient office with their great management. They'll text you to remind you of your appointment beforehand. I'm called in right away at my appointment time, which can sometimes be a bummer when I want to read one of their many magazines in the waiting room. The office is very clean and neat. I've also seen them update their equipment in the time that I've been going. They don't try to sell you things you don't need; they just take care of your teeth. Dr Koepke is the mom-and-pop dentist office that I had been longing for, the kind I went to when i was growing up, not the awful factories** dentist offices have become these days. First recommended to me by a coworker in response to my simple test question "would you recommend your dentist?" (most people say no!), I have now been going here for 4 years and have had nothing but great service from a friendly competent staff including Dr. Koepke himself who has a friendly reassuring confident manner that made me feel instantly in good hands from my first visit. This place is great! I have been to a few offices in the past and they are always high pressure to get everything fixed... even replace all my silver fillings just because! Dr Koepke was really nice and told me what he saw as far as problems in my mouth go and then left it up to me to fix. He told me the priorities so that i could fit it in my budget. The dental assistant was really nice and gentle too! The receptionists in the front were very nice on the phone and once I came in they already knew who I was! I didn't feel like just a number.. i felt like a person. They explained my insurance to me in detail and helped me make the most of it with the treatment the doctor recommended... I will agree w/others who have submitted reviews about Dr. Koepke, he is very polite, nice & alleviates any apprehensions you may have when going to a dentist!!! I'm sure we've all had bad experiences. I was actually fine w/getting my work done by him & was willing to pay the higher than normal prices (though his front office claims they're set insurance prices...yah ok)for my root canals (yes ...plural) & crowns to be done. I was going to him fine for a few months now UNTIL this last week. I didn't complain to Koepke (I did his staff) when what could've been a $100+ filling turned into a $1,900 crown due to the fact that he wouldn't see me sooner. I understand offices can be busy but instead of referring me out to get it done, he just Rx'd me some antibiotics (in case I got another abscess before my next appt.)& pain killers (YUCK). I just felt like he cared more about making the quick buck than helping his patients. Had his office referred me elsewhere due to the fact they couldn't see me, I wouldn't be needing yet another root canal...BOOOOOOO!!!!! Here's the icing on the cake, I go in 2 days ago because my mouth is literally on FIRE....I can't chew on that side, any little pressure and I'm teary eyed!!! Anyway, Koepke sees me & I absolutely LOVE his D.A!!! Koepke tells me that I should have been seen 7-10 days after the root canal procedure (you know...the root canal that should've just been a simple filling?). I tell him that I tried making an appt. but his office staff told me there were no available times until Feb. (Had the root canal done middle of Jan). Even when I called and talked to one of his office staff (Char?) that I was in pain & I stressed to her that it was mentioned I was supposed to be seen in that time frame!!!! NOPE, she cant' do it, he has no space. She can, however, put me on top of the "waiting list"...so I say fine, it's not like I have a choice. The kicker to all of this is that Koepke went to the front office to call 'me out on this....THEY tell HIM that they've tried to get a hold of me & that I was telling them I would schedule something later. REALLY??? Koepke comes back to me w/a shrug and says,"Well you guys need to figure it out because it's a she said/she said thing." Basically the front office LIED to him. What do I do? As I'm being escorted up front to get scheduled I finally come to the determination that this is the straw...you LIE to your boss to save face??? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Sooooo...when I go to the front desk I say as calm as can be, "Ya' know what? I'm gonna do EXACTLY what you say I do & just schedule something for later!!" his D.A. asks if Im' sure where I then respond, "Yes, I will just see another dentist." As this is going on, one of his front office staff (Dinay?)tries to argue w/me! I'm not going to argue w/liars. Needless to say, I LOVE the Koepke & his D.A. but he needs to get his front office in check. Now I've got a big gaping, painful hole in mouth!!! :( Because of the principle of it, I will not go back there unless something changes w/his front staff. I know some have been w/him for years & for the most part they're pretty fab...but they dropped the ball & totally lost my business after Kopeke was lied to. And what's even sadder is that he fell for it. Who knows what other lies they say. Dr. Koepke, you do good work & totally alleviated my anxieties but I must now take my business elsewhere. Liars don't sit well w/me. The ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2 is because Koepke himself is AWESOME & so is his D.A. .....AND...I was able to lose like 5 lbs. because I can't eat much these days due to the pain!!!! :( read more

He is not an honest dentist. I was told that I had two cavities facing each other in between my upper left bicuspids. Just before this happened I remember distinctly the dental hygienist acting odd, like she was being compelled to do something unethical. I would have gotten a second opinion but didn't know if it would be worth the money. Later I skipped out on a follow-up appointment for something or other to do with the occlusion of my teeth which was temporarily screwed up by the fillings. Luckily it straightened out on its own, and I moved on to another dentist. Seeing the x-rays in this other dentist's office, who was busy repairing the shoddy job on one of the bicuspids, I noticed that the fillings did not reach the depth that was claimed by Koepke to be where the cavities were. I would be suing him for fraud if the statute of limitations had not passed. I highly recommend that anyone who has suspicions should not doubt themselves and take action accordingly. read more
