I was just making calls seeking a new dental office for my family of 4. Seeing the positive reviews I gave mission trails a call, we live around the corner. The receptionist went through all of the info which had me on the phone for a while and at the very end she insisted that we get all new X-rays in order to be considered for cleanings! Which would be out of pocket expense, I explained to her that I could forward X-rays from 6 months ago for all of us and she preferred to turn our business away. I was SHOCKED! I called Love Your Smile Dentistry next and they treated me like they were happy to have our business and asked us to send over all from previous office and they would review. It felt scammy and rude, she literally did not care about adding 4 new patients to the practice. Would not recommend and the owners should know this is happening! read more

I have been to many different dental offices over the years and have been to good dentists and really bad dentists. I recently became a patient here and am very pleased with them. The environment is comfortable and relaxed. The entire staff is efficient, calm, patient, friendly, and so easy to talk with. The equipment is top notch. We've been going to Mission Trails Dentistry for about nine months now and we're thrilled with their dental care. Between the two of us, we've had six cleanings (we go every three months) and one crown during this time and it's always a positive experience! We feel like we finally have a great dentist again with Dr. Murray -- it's been hard to find a new one since our fabulous dentist retired during the pandemic but we're in very good hands once again. This place is a cash grab. They upsell and up charge. I have really good insurance through Delta. Mission Trails Dentistry was able to charge me a decent amount out of pocket for what they called......"a comprehensive oral evaluation-new patient". The dentist saw me for maybe 10 minutes or so. The front desk was vague about how much is covered with insurance, in other words, felt like I was bothering them for asking questions. Went to another dentist for the same thing and was charged much less out of pocket. The Dentist and front desk took more time and provided a clearer explanation of what is covered with my insurance. My family and I have been coming here for almost 20 years. Even through staff changes over the years it has been a consistently pleasant experience each time I visit. Dr. Ross was our provider for a long time and it's been a nice transition to Dr. Murray. He's kind and attentive like Dr. Ross was. Sundie is a wonderful hygienist. I have been going to Mission Trails Dentistry for over 20 years. The office is always clean, the front desk staff capable and courteous and the dental hygienist (Rachel) is extremely competent and provides professional feedback on gum health each visit. I have had my teeth straightened and veneers put on my lower front teeth. The two dentists that provided the services are on the top of their game and most pleasant. I went in for a cleaning, when I got there they didn't even do a cleaning instead they did a preliminary checkup and asked me to come back another day, then they charged me more than 100$ for the preliminary checkup I didn't even see want because they are out of network for my insurance. I never give 1 star reviews. In fact when I first came here I thought dr. Ross was great and to their credit the staff is amazing. The younger girl at the front desk is so so nice. I came here because I had been having tooth pain for a month. They got me in the same day and after doing a full comprehensive exam it was discovered that I had 3 cavities. One was deeper than the others but the other 2 were superficial. After getting them filled the pain never went away. I came in 3 times and was told that " I just had tooth grinding" and they checked my bite. Something felt off and I went to a different place for a second opinion as the pain was so bad I was downing Tylenol and Advil to the point of vomiting. Come to find out I had a cracked tooth. After this i wasn't going to leave a bad review, I just was going to switch dentists. Not every dentist is going to notice every little thing maybe it was just over looked right? Wrong. Come to find out I have 4 cracked teeth and need 4 root canals and crowns. How the hell do you miss FOUR CRACKED TEETH? Two of the teeth were the same ones that were filled here. In fact one of the fillings was so big it made the crack worse. I honestly have no clue if the dentists just don't care, dismissed my pain because I'm young or female or what the issue was. But I definitely had big cracks that needed crowns, and now after further investigation I need four. If you are just coming here for teeth cleaning it's good enough, staff is friendly but at this point I would consider this a form of malpractice and negligence. I wasted over $1200 on cavities for teeth that actually had much worse problems and my pain was dismissed as "teeth grinding". I had recommended this place to a few friends after my first visit but no way in hell I would let anyone I know come here. read more

My husband and I went there in January in order to get our teeth cleaned... three appointments later I had gotten xrays, a root canal, and cavities filled but no cleaning and then Covid hit. The office and staff were nice, but I was used to getting the xrays and cleaning done in the same appointment. Dr. Ross has been my dentist for a few years now, and he is easily the best dentist I've ever had. The office is warm and inviting, the assistants and hygienists are friendly and very good at their jobs, and I always know I'll be leaving with a brighter smile than before. They've also given me specific instructions on how to improve my dental health, such as telling me if there are certain teeth I need to give more attention to when brushing, and diagnosing where pain or discomfort might be coming from. I was recently dealing with some jaw pain when eating sweet foods, and they managed to figure out the problem pretty much immediately. Dishonest. Ultimately they stole $420 from me. My tooth broke and I got a crown here. Dr. Ross broke my tooth more when he tried to get the temporary crown off and then another crown had to be made. The crown eventually got installed but they charged me $420 more than the $730 I paid out of pocket that they promised would cover everything with my insurance (Delta Dental). If you go here get quote in writing before letting them do work. I told the receptionist/administrator (Hellen) I didn't agree with extra charge and she said they'd send me to collections if extra $420 wasn't paid. Then I spoke with Dr Ross and he told me to talk to the receptionist/administrator who said the cost went up $420 and reiterated that she'd send me to collections if I didn't pay. read more

Dr. Ross is awesome. I had real apprehension about all dentists after having a real shitty one as a kid! He's really good at what he does, and put me at ease the first time I came in. And due to my very real fear of dental work, he was really patient and listened to my many concerns. Of course there have been hiccups, but mainly on my end. Finding a dentist is hard, but he's the best I've ever had, and everyone in that office make you feel very comfortable. Now, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the real star of that show... Jo! The best place to get your teeth cleaned and for any tooth problems to get fixed! Dr. Ian Murray is professional and knowledgeable, I had a tooth extracted that involved cutting, stitches and bone graft and the next day I had zero swelling or pain! Dr Salazar did the porcelain crowns on my 4 front teeth. I love them, it was a few years ago, I was recommended by a friend and I thought the work was great! I would still be a customer , but after this work his front office simply pushed too hard to sell me to other services. Finding the right dentist in San Diego has been alot like finding the love of your life... You come across alot of frogs before meeting that special prince! Well I found that one special dental office here! You can really tell that this dentist is genuine and really cares about his patients. I went here to get a crown glued on and they were respectful of my decisions and treated me like an individual instead of just another patient. Overall best dentist I've been to in San Diego. They are clean, great customer service, and authentic. You will not get upsales here and unnecessary work done but they take care of what you need. They also keep you well informed. I was referred to Mission Trails Dentistry by my regular DDS, who did not offer a cosmetic teeth whitening service. I was very pleased with my results from the "Opalescence" Boost procedure, which Mission Trails Dentistry provided. My teeth brightened up, and were noticeably 2-3 shades whiter immediately afterwards. Adrian, who performed the service, was wonderful! She went over every detail with me before hand, and she answered ALL of my questions, as well. There were no surprises, or hidden costs! It took, in total, about an hour and a half. I Love this office, Dr Murray is AWESOME and so understanding, for the first time in my life I'm not afraid of the dentist office. He did a Great job and gave me back my self confidence. Helen in the billing dept is also Awesome actually the entire staff is, thank you SO MUCH for everything! The cost was very reasonable but what I did was every payday I would give the dentist office money in advance and created an account with them so when it was time for my work to be done the cost wasn't a problem, I would give $150 to $300 every two weeks to cover whatever my insurance didn't cover. I have been a patient of Dr. Ross and Dr. Salazar on and off for about 6 years. I have had great experiences with both of them in the dental chair. Both Doctors are extremely knowledgeable, honest and caring. I don't feel as if I'm being "sold" on anything I don't need. The office staff is friendly, however they have messed up my appointments twice now. It wouldn't be such a hassle, but I travel to this office from quite a distance. It's really hard to find a good dentist, but their office is outstanding! The staff are all really friendly, always work with you to help you find an appointment, the doctors are friendly and they're really good at explaining what's necessary vs. what's just an option to do, and they're never pushy with services. The hygenists are obviously well trained and knowledgeable, the office is clean, and they are willing to work with you for payment plans. I went to Dr Salazar for invisalign braces. I am so impressed with the professionalism of the entire office. The office is state of the art with flat screen TV's in each room. The staff is so friendly, they even wished me a happy anniversary on the my wedding anniversary. Dr Salazar is very detailed and I appreciate that. I went to another dentist before him and the price was about $2000 more and his office wasn't as friendly and accommodating as Mission Trails Dentistry.
