    Wrapped maid rite, potato soup
    Larry H.

Went shopping in Valley Junction and was looking for a new place to grab lunch. We found Paula's from a Des Moines food review Facebook page. Such a good find! The maid rite sandwiches are great! I can't figure out what makes them so much better than the "norm", but they're delicious. They have that cooked in a really seasoned pan or cooktop vibe. Goulash is basic and fantastic. My wife really enjoyed her potato soup. And the fried pickles are a hit! We knew ahead of time, but beware that it's cash only. They have a sign that there's an ATM nearby if needed. Can't wait to go back for a tenderloin and to try more soups!

I'm not sure how I just found this place, but I'm so glad I did! There was a short wait when I…read morearrived, but the tables turned over quickly. The host worked to get everyone seated as quickly as he could. A server was at the table almost immediately for our drink order, and they were served in no time. There is quite a selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from, and I settled on The Classic. I really liked the option for a small cake instead of toast, and I enjoyed that tremendously! The ham steak was thick, juicy, and flavorful, and the eggs were scrambled perfectly. The hash browns were a little bland, and I would rather have had an option for breakfast potatoes instead. But the meal was good and reasonably priced for the portions. For those who like coffee, there is a wide selection of options. The place is cozy inside with warm colors and all of the workers were extremely friendly in their interactions with customer. I felt very welcome and the table was well taken care of throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is nestled in a strip mall off the main street, so it isn't something I would know was there if I were just driving by. But now that I know it is here, I will definitely make a return trip to try additional items on the menu that caught my attention (I'm looking at you apple and blueberry bread, cinnamon rolls, and crake!)

First time we're able to try out this restaurant. Overall pleasant experience. Cozy restaurant,…read moresmall so expect a wait during normal breakfast and brunch hours (beware of people trying to cut in front of you in line ‍). The food was delicious! If you love eggs, a breakfast meat, and home style potatoes, this is your place. Nothing fancy but good if you want a tried and true breakfast. Because it's a little smaller, you feel a little rushed to eat and get out so others can enjoy a breakfast as well. What was a little odd was that it seamed that the staff uniforms were scrub tops, like those they wear in the medical field. I think if they had an option to wear what they want to, they might be more comfortable. Either way, the service was so polite and so efficient! You will have to try it out for yourself if this is the restaurant for you.

Excellent and friendly service here too. A true bottomless coffee - truly the servers didn't let us even see the bottoms of our mugs. Loved it I got the 1/4 everything hash browns with over easy eggs and cottage cheese. Harrison went with the wave lands best skillet with white toast. Yummy yummy yummy. The crispy hashbrowns paired so well with the mixins. Definitely go for the everything hash browns with the over easy eggs. I'd say a must for a first timer. Also nothing was overly greasy. You felt good leaving. 10/10! Will be back

It was pretty disgusting to watch them as they were picking up bacon, sausages and cheese slices with their hands without using tongs. As well as rolling sausages in a pancake with their bare hands. And then to slide an egg on top of the biscuits and gravy with bare hands never using a spatula. To top if off I saw a waitress sneeze, then wipe her mouth and nose with her hand and continued to bring out plates of food!!! I don't think I will be coming back to the Waveland, the hygiene there is pretty bad!!
