I was pleasantly surprised by the Hy-Vee Market Cafe and thanked a staff member for her recruiting the day before. We visited mid-Sunday morning and elected to try the breakfast options. I enjoyed my combination of French Toast, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. They were all tasty and prepared well. Drink options were plentiful, and I decided to get their fountain drink. Nothing is memorable about the seating or the atmosphere, but it works if you're shopping or need a quick bite. read more

The food here is always good! Hyvee has evolved so much over the years. I like shopping here and now I like eating here too! We had a pretty tough workout in the morning. Avoid this place on Sundays unless you are looking for the least happy - Happy Hour ever. Server/bartender is super rude and makes it clear she does not want you there. It's like you did something wrong by coming in and sitting down. The appetizers taste good but the scowl from the server /bartender when she drops it off is enough to sour any meal. I probably would not have noticed her attitude as much if I could have watched football however we were told it was too hard to turn on the TVs by us. Want a refill on drinks? Good Luck as the server will do whatever she can to avoid eye contact. Should see if "Dicks Last Resort" is hiring. Would be perfect fit that place. read more

Started with vodka lemonade. Not sure if it was lemonade or water with a squirt of lemon juice. Rough going down. Next I tried vodka with ice tea. Ice tea was rough. Not sure what I can mix my vodka with. Ice must be in short supply too. Ordered chicken nachos. Every 4th or 5th chip had queso cheese and or chicken on it. And a bunch of lettuce. Forgot sour cream. 6PM Friday. Not seriously busy though. We were seated outside and ordered drinks and food immediately, including an appetizer of bruschetta. Drinks came after several minutes...happy. Then we waited. And waited. After thirty minutes of waiting for appetizer, I went inside to find my server laughing alongside a coworker wrapping silverware while she joked around. I told her to cancel my appetizer as our main food was likely to arrive soon...I hope? Three minutes later our Impossible burgers came with the sweet tots and regular tots. The sweet tots were mushy and cold. The Impossible burgers were unbelievable, But so far the service was pissing me off. The adjacent table was getting antsy as well. Eventually she came back to check on us. I complained the tots are cold and we STILL HAVE NO NAPKINS. Three minutes later, I need to wipe my mouth, I had to go inside to ask for a napkin myself. I told my server to cancel the tots because we are finished eating. Well they bring em anyway and charge us for them. You'll pay typical restaurant prices here. But you'll receive service that's far less than it's worth. What a shame Wahlburgers associated their name with this. As I stated; the burgers were killer. The service was horrendous. read more

This is most definitely our favorite place because of the prices and the friendly staff. Jenna was so attentive and friendly for the whole experience, and was the same way to all other guests! We came in when they were rather slow, but even when it picked up and got busy she never forgot about us and always kept a smile on her face. Loved it!! There aren't many "finer" dining experiences in this area (the one I heard of is closed on Mondays) but this place is nice! Bar has a "lounge" vibe, nice menu, full bar, nice wines, nice draft beer selection. (Several local brews). We had the bacon-jalapeño maple wontons. Interesting flavors. The oriental chicken salad was great. Flat bread pizza was dry, more like a big cracker (but we ate it). Staff is a bit inexperienced but they are extremely friendly and eager to please. Love the food, but here's the deal...the hubs and I do order take-out off and on, and it takes them at least 1 hour or longer to get a simple order of burgers and fries ready to go. Last time we ordered they forgot one of our side items and gave us no sauce for the apps. We've been happy with the food, but over all even when we dine in the restaurant it's been slow service. Once morning we went in for breakfast and it took over thirty mins. to get eggs and bacon. Another issue is they changed their menu and took off the sampler appetizer platter which was something we could share. The app choices are slim. We tend to order from other places when we're short on time or don't feel like waiting so long for our food. Wish they'd figure this timing issue out because otherwise, I'd give 5 stars. read more

My husband and I went here for breakfast this morning. Waited about 10 minutes, after finally being seated. The place wasn't even that busy. No one stopped by to even acknowledge us as their waiter. I Stopped in because my morning event was canceled due to weather and felt like a change from the normal 'breakfast' places. There were not many people as it was a Wednesday morning. Service and food was as expected until I was about to leave. I payed my bill and my server asked if I would like a coffee to-go. I was impressed just to be offered. She returned with a brand name Coffee with a high quality branded cup as well as a 'heat shield' for the cup. I realize this may not seem exceptional to some, but my meal, including coffee, was only $10. I feel like the effort of the staff and exceptional standards of Hy Vee deserved a few moments to show my appreciation. Thanks for helping start my day off right! read more
