It's taking me a bit to get to this review but I feel I should post because people should know. The cleanliness is an F. We ordered pasta with butter to go for all 3 kids. The pan had black grime all over that got in the pasta. I told the owner my kids would not eat that and he made two more that came out the same exact way. He then gave us to-go utensils which had maggots on one set. I dumped the meal in the trash and went elsewhere. read more

Not happy with this order at all. Wings were broken, bones poking out... These are the wings that got stuck in the machinery at the factory or were road kill at one time... Problem with this is that if you attempt to eat them you get bone fragments in your mouth.. Not pleasant.. Threw them in the trash.. Please see photos.. No joke The pizza was soupy in the middle, wet, and when you tried to pull a slice away more that half of the topping slid off... We just had delivery from Paulis. We are not from the area n have no experience w any restaurants in the area. Relied fully on yelp reviews. Friendly and courteous on the phone. Fast delivery. We ordered the greek feta n spinach pizza, cheese bread, sicilian deep dish, and cannolis. All the food was exceptional. Our party of seven were all impressed w the food and we have enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow before we fly home. Very large servings on all aspects of the order. Nothing was skimped on. Ordered a Sicilian with mushroom and pepperoni. Looks I give it a 9. Sauce was lacking flavor. Bottom was cooked good as well as the crust. Center was doughy. Clearly a pre made dough that they form and freeze. The problem with this is it will always give you that doughy center. STOP using pre-frozen to save time. You will not get repeat business with that kind of product from people who know their pies. Otherwise the owner was nice and place is clean. This is my new favorite spot for pizza and calzones. We got the meat lovers pizza, a calzone with pepperoni and fried zuchinni sticks for an appetizer. I was impressed with how much zuchinni we got, enough for two to share and very tasty. The pizza had a fantastic, flavorful crust and plenty of toppings. The calzone was delicious and every bite had cheese and pepperoni in it, even the ends, which I loved. Although we ordered to go I did like the inside of the restaurant and will probably dine in next time. One of the main reasons I wanted to try Paulie's is their perfect score for cleanliness that I recently read about. OMG Thank good Local 10 gave him the clean plate award or I would never have found this pizza and this great owner. Very rare you find someone who gets a clean plate award you know the place has to be awesome. Never knew it was in same plaza as Jaxsons I have really been missing out. Saw it on Local 10 on Thursday night and was in the area Sunday morning my wife had made me breakfast but I just had to try a little Sunday morning 11:30 pizza. I'm gonna go ahead and say that this place is something of a hidden gem. It's sitting there quietly in the same shopping complex as Jaxsons. Don't let the eastern europeans at the counter throw you, this is some tasty pizza/ Italian food. I think part of what I liked about this place is that it feels so similar to the kind of place you find all over north jersey. Even the fact that it was manned by eastern europeans gave me the impression of sitting down to lunch in Elizabeth or Jersey City or Rutherford. The food is all what my wife would describe as "right." I had their sausage and peppers hero and it was quite tasty. The pizza was good as well (although perhaps a tad soggy). My wife & I was stranded from a cancelled connected flight by Spirit to Newark, NJ. Spirit is the Worst Airline EVER!! We were forced to pay & stay two nights at a hotel close to Ft. The Pizza was Crispy, Descendent Flop, a Bit Oily to my liking but it didn't effect the taste. It was made to order and we ate in and waited just about 10 minutes for the food to come out. Fresh, Hot, Tasty! The sauce is claimed to be Home Made....and it tastes Delicious. We ordered garlic rolls and where I'm from (New Jersey) you get a cup of sauce on the side with your garlic knots/bread/rolls. Here the cup of sauce you have to pay extra for it and it doesn't come with the garlic rolls. I have to say it was worth paying for it because it was so good and it was hot. Dipped my garlic rolls and pizza crust in that sauce...I found myself scooping the sauce after a while! Yum! Overall it was good food and great service. Wife and I ate half the pie at the restaurant and the other half we took to the hotel to eat it later that night. Oh yeah and I paid for a extra cup of sauce to go too! Upon entering we were greeted by on guy who appeared to be working by himself. We were welcomed with a hello and he handed us a menu. We ordered 2 16in pizzas and wings. Staying at a nearby hotel without transportation and STARVING! We were told there were a few restaurants within walking distance. Italian sounded good but I didn't see beer/wine on the menu so I called. Pauli answered and said we could bring our own beer/wine. We stopped a Walgreens a 1/2 block south and bought wine/beer, then went to Pauli's. The four of us split a large salad (antipasto, very good), garlic bread (very garlicky and delicious) and a large meat lovers pizza, which was amazing! Pauli was very friendly and accommodating throughout our meal, even opening our wine bottle and providing cups without charge. This is a small family-run restaurant so it's not fancy, but very comfortable and down-to-earth. Food and service were great and our bill was just over $40. We all left very satisfied and happy we visited Pauli's and met Pauli himself! (We met the delivery guy inside the restaurant and he also was very friendly.) read more
