Small clean diner, with a good late night menu. Staff is friendly. Best poutines in town, bar none.

Really great greasy comfort food. I've tried their poutine and their club sandwich and both have just been excellent. It really hits the spot when you're in the mood to watch a movie marathon and eat enough to put you into a food coma.

Fries Poutine and Philly cheesesteak with pepperoni! Oh my gosh. So good. Waitress also went out of her way to talk with me in English after a simple bon jour!

Best comfort food I've had in MTL The food is always on point whether you pick it up or on Uber eats They put the perfect portion of cheese curds and gravy on the poutine. Fell in love with the smoked meat grilled cheese The burgers are all so good, always having trouble deciding which one to get. The staff has always been super nice. Definitely the place to go to satisfy your comfort food cravings

Always a fun place to visit after hours. Lively and busy. Young crowd withs tons of energy. They all come for the no nonsense decor and awesome food. My doctor wouldn't approve but it's worth the sacrifice. Poutine heaven!!!! Incredible breakfasts. Friendly staff. The cook on the grill is a MACHINE!!! We're never disappointed with whatever we order.

I heard good things about Paulo & Suzanne so decided to drop by this place. They advertised as being open 24 hours and I sent them a Facebook message asking them if I could get anything on the menu at any time or whether it was like in some fast food restaurants where if I wanted a poutine, I needed to show up after 11:00am (or whenever they start their lunch menu). I was told that I can order anything on their menu at any time which includes getting "breakfast food" in the evening or getting a poutine in the morning. I drove there and I was lucky enough to find parking close by. I parked my car and waited outside in order to place my order as they were only letting a certain number of people inside to order at a time due to Covid-19 and social distancing requirements. I decided to order a regular sized Quebecoise poutine (Philly steak, pepperoni, fried onions & mushrooms, & pepper sauce along with of course the standard fries & cheese curds) and asked if I could get smoke meat added as an extra even if this poutine didn't come with with smoke meat. I was told that I could. After ordering, I paid (this is a cash only business) and was asked to wait outside and they would call me when my order was ready. I waited for what I would say was less than 10 minutes and I got my order. I could have eaten it outside as they had patio dining area but decided to eat it in the comfort of my home so got back into my car and drove back home. The poutine was very good. What I ordered (regular size) was enough for me and when I finished it, I was satisfied/full without being stuffed. I like that one can order a poutine during breakfast hours and get it since sometimes I want something considered a "lunch item" before 11:00am and hate being told that I need to wait until after 11:00am. As typical for my reviews of businesses that doesn't accept credit cards or debit cards (they have a generic cash ATM inside), I generally don't give 5 stars unless something extra ordinary happened but gave them 4 stars (leaning on 4.5 stars)

Really homey diner that has the perfect poutine! It was so loaded and worth every penny spent. Could not finish the massive poutine... So I took it home (was only able to finish half) The Quebecois has the perfect amount of pepper to be considered slightly spicy, the gravy is not overpowering and each bite is unique and delicious! Definitely will come back here if in the area!

Unreal poutine, it is definitely a must try. I ordered the regular, large size poutine to share and it was more than enough. There was definitely enough cheese curds to go around and the perfect amount of sauce. There was an interesting taste to the sauce that made it seem different than many of the other ones I've had (in a good way!). As for the French fries, it is exactly the type of fries you'd want in a poutine, crunchy but gooey! Can't wait to go back!

A staple in the Cartierville area. This is a cute 24hrs diner which is right across the hospital. They have some parking space in the back, but you can find street parking. It's quite small but there's a ton of outdoor space to sit and dine. Staff and service was great. I had oreo waffles and coffee which came upto approximately $14. The waffle were on the smaller end but were good. Despite the English creams, cookies and banana, they did not turn soggy. Definitely planning to go back there, especially for a late night craving.

Paulo et Suzanne offers copious and delicious Québec comfort food fare, such as poutines, grilled cheeses, hot dogs, burgers, and all-day breakfast for a very reasonable price. They have hands-down the best fries I've ever eaten in my life. The staff is super friendly and the decor is homely - it reminded me of an American diner without all the bling.

This is an amazing little place in Montreal. It is clean and the people are friendly and they serve great food. The service is great and the food is fresh and hot. I had to have poutine and I love burgers so the Poutine Burger Extreme was definitely a great choice. My first food experience in Quebec and it exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to go back.

Great place for late night eats. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Can get busy, but service moves fast.

I'd never had the French Canadian heart-attack-on-a-plate, and was a little nervous as it just looks like it has A LOT going on. I sludged into La Banquise dead sober at 4:11am, as this is a legendary spot that is open 24 hours. I sat down in a bustling no frills atmosphere and remembered my deep appreciation for a 24-hour diner. You see people for who they really are this early in the morning. A couple in front of me was in a heated argument about what "being exclusive" really meant, while two separate groups of 4 to my right were feeling no pain and enjoying a poutine night cap. There I was, sipping on my black coffee mentally prepping myself for the 45 mile (72 km) day I had in front of me. The dichotomy of life. I asked the server what the most popular item was, and he said La Scooby. This monstrosity consisted of fresh cut fries, cheese, gravy, ground beef, bacon, onions, fried pickles, and caesar dressing garlic sauce. I got the small ($12.40 usd), but this thing was a TANK. It was bigger than my head and I have a HUGE head. The large must be a family style portion or somethin. Upon first bite, it was damn good. I completely see the poutine appeal. Is it an ideal meal dead sober at 4:11am? No, absolutely not, but this is an S-tier hangover food. Also, if there is ever a day when I need some extra calories, it's on a 100k step day. All the staff was so welcoming, and surprisingly chipper this early in the morning. SHOUTOUT TO LA BANQUISE! THANK YOU FOR FUELING THE JOURNEY! IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

I took my niece from New York City here because La Banquise is supposed to be the "must try" poutine spot in Montreal. We had a great night overall: soccer game, drinks at Mellon Brasserie (none of us were drunk; my wife was 100% sober). Everything was fun and chill. But La Banquise completely ruined the end of that trip, and I'm not okay with letting this go. We paid for the food and service. But it doesn't matter if you pay $1 or $100: at the end of the day, we were customers, and we deserved to be treated with respect. We waited for our Uber outside. It was cold, and I'm on crutches, so my injuries hurt badly in the cold. After waiting outside for a long time with the Uber not showing up, we went back inside to wait near the door, in the corner, not blocking anyone. The staff at the door immediately came in and started rudely and aggressively kicking us out. He refused to speak English with me after I clearly said, "I don't speak French, so talk to me in English." He kept talking French and was rude to my wife, my niece, and me. He told the waitress in French that we were "blocking the way," which was 100% false. (My wife speaks French) We were just standing near the entrance, waiting for a few minutes, trying to get out of the cold. When I went to the cashier and explained, "This guy is kicking me out. I just paid for my meal. But it doesn't matter if you pay $1 or $100: you're still a customer, and you shouldn't be kicked out and treated like trash just because you're waiting for your Uber on crutches. I'm on crutches, it's cold, and my Uber isn't here yet," they called a waitress who also started telling us to leave instead of helping. She didn't try to find a solution; she just said, "No, no, leave, leave." This is not just bad service. This is disgusting, disrespectful treatment of a paying customer with a mobility issue. My niece, who had a blast all night, ended the trip saying, "What the f....? You bring me here and they treat us like this?" She now has a bad impression of Montreal because of this place. My niece is from New York City, and she's also posting her own review. That review will be seen by people in New York and by tourists looking for recommendations. If you treat tourists like this, you're not just ruining one night, you're ruining the image of the whole city. Montreal is supposed to be a welcoming city for tourists and people looking to have fun and be treated with respect. La Banquise failed that completely. The food was okay, but the experience was terrible because of how we were treated. This is unacceptable. You should be ashamed of how you handled this.

No Michigan sauce (yes, they call it Michigan sauce), no smoked meat, or any of the other add-ons that have become trendy over the years. Poutineville offers both. In addition to a menu of poutine choices: mac and cheese, General Tao, Philly steak, Hat Trick, and Stroganoff, you can also build your own, where you select different fries (regular, julienne, sweet potato), cheeses (curds, mozzarella, cheddar, and Swiss), gravies (regular, red wine, butter, maple, cream, etc), and toppings (egg, hot dog, corn dog, gyro, smoked meat, etc). I had considered the Hat Trick, which included bacon, hot dogs, and ground beef, but in the end, I stuck with the classic, but added extra cheese curds. I loved the crunchy and tender fries. However, I would have preferred a bolder sauce and melted cheese curds. IMO, the best poutines have cheese layered so there is a cheese pull, like in a good French onion soup, a mozzarella stick, or pizza. My sister's Stroganoff poutine was interesting and included thinly sliced steak, mushrooms, onions, two types of cheese, and a cream sauce. We both ordered the smaller size, but I was just not able to finish - so be sure to bring your appetite. We both liked our server, who ably tended to all the tables. On the day of our visit, there were large groups of friends and family, all happily sampling the variety of poutines.
