Definitely a must-visit establishment, of course for the food but also the vibes. Small place but great atmosphere. We went for a Patatine (poutine with cut raw veggies) and Grilled Cheese. Not a fan of Patatine as a concept (still wanted to give it a shot) but the poutine part of that was great. Grilled cheese was amazing. Would definitely visit again to try other things in the menu. Staff was great, super friendly and chilled. Couple of tables and bar seating available inside but many folks just did a takeout. Definitely recommended.

Poutine was very good. Second best i've had in Montreal. However, service seemed cold. Indifferent to my presence. As a tourist, unlikable.

A sweet and haphazard little place. The food was good and needed before walking into the market and gathering some treats. The fries are perfect and the burgers are on the small side, but are flavorful. This is a good stop, if you are wanting some hot food before walking around this neighborhood.

Went here for poutine due to the witty name. Grabbed a counter seat and got the classic poutine along with small cider. The fries are thinner than I expected but good flavor. The olive was a nice touch. I didn't have room for it but the burgers and french onion soup did look good.

One of the good poutines spot in Montreal. Nothing outof this world but the poutine is goid. Fries are crunchy just enough, brown sauce are good, there should be more cheese but it's a 7.5/10 poutine! Service is good and mood in the restaurant is also nice.

My oh my, this was my first Montreal poutine, and by far, the best one I had. Every potato fry was crispy and covered in gravy, which had a beautiful earthy taste. The cheese curds were plentiful and squeaked with every bite. It is a great portion and the price for it was even better. I loved the hard working staff and the fact I could watch my poutine being made in front of me only made me enjoy it more. It is also literally a block or two away from where Canadian icon Leonard Cohen used to live. Hallelujah! I know they tell you never to fall in love with your first, but considering I had other plates of this while in Quebec, exceptions can be made.

Very small and cozy place and Amazing service, food was a 7/10, ordered loaded poutine with beef patties and had to remind them to add cheese to the loaded poutine. It was too small compared to their regular poutine which we ordered too. A bit too expensive for poutine but I guess you are paying for the name.

These fries come as close to European fries as I have had. Order them plain or poutined to a variety of different options. They sell approximately 1000lbs or 454 kilos/day of french fries; at first bite you'll understand why. The Potatoes are locally sourced from Québec, McDonald's sources their potatoes from Québec as well which is indicative of the fame and quality product grown in Canada. If you are a fry potatohead, you can't go wrong at Patati.

Did I actually choose a vegan dish? I was really intrigued after reading all the raving reviews on the tofu burger so I decided to give it a try. It was a mini slider size for $4, very reasonably priced and a good size for tasting so you can try other items. We also got the poutine and eggs which was an interesting combination but it wasn't anything too exciting. Overall friendly staff and a nice place for lunch.

A great quick grab and go spot if you're on the move or even if you want to dine in. A low key corner unit on a busy street that is hustling and bustling throughout the night. Had the opportunity to try their classic poutine and my mind was blown away. Crispy fries with your classic cheese curds and gravy. Loved every bite of it and still thinking about this for the next time I go back.

Just poutine. Pretty small space so best for taking out. Know what you want to order before you go cuz it gets crowded.

Poutine is absolutely insanely good!! The cheese curds, fries, gravy just hit all the feels and put me in a food coma. The burger was also great, meat cooked to perfection and juicy paired with jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, and crunchy bread. I think having a burger each and sharing one order of poutine is more than enough. Some people ordered one poutine per person and that would also suffice. You order your food up front and take a seat, a few minutes later your order is brought out to you by the server so it was fairly quick. The atmosphere is grungy adding to the feel of the place. If there is one spot to visit for poutine in Montreal I'd pick this place over and over again.

La Banquise is the first poutine I tried in Montreal around 10 years ago and at that time it was…read morethe one-and-only best poutine in Montreal and remained that way for years until I recently found Romados this year (my personal favorite). This classic poutine restaurant is still the best (tied for first place), always packed (literally always, since it's open 24/7) and certainly has the most variety and creativity for poutine. You'll find tons of different options and I'm eager to try them all! If you're not feeling like Gravy-infused fries with Cheese Curds and crispy fries, there are also tons of other classic diner options; hot dogs, burgers, onion rings, BLTs, etc., but while those are solid options, they end up being the sideshows. The main attraction is definitely the poutine. My personal favorite is the slow-roasted Pulled Pork poutine. It comes with a heaping of sour cream and a sweet bbq sauce. Even after you've somehow managed to eat the whole thing, it will leave you wanting more and you might dream about it and crave it as well (I know I am right now!). I reccommend sharing it unless you are a poutine expert or haven't eaten all day. The regular size and large are similar sizes (both hulking portions) and it might be more accurate to name them "huge" and "more huge". I also love the smoked meat poutine (the one with pickles and coleslaw), but I usually default to the Pulled Pork one, as that one is the best! The service is excellent and my server was fast/attentive for being so busy. The atmosphere is loud and it is very casual--great for a large party as they have big tables. If it is packed, don't be scared away, somehow they manage to make the wait time not so bad--maybe because the food is made so fast and fresh. The quality hasn't dipped at all since I first tried this place and if you want to try one of the best, if not the best poutines, you don't want to miss out on La Banquise.

I went on a weekday morning and grabbed a takeout order with no wait or issues with parking. I just happened to be driving around in the area and noticed out of the corner of my eye driving about. Since they are open 24 hours, I figured when in Rome, why not!? LOL. My fries were less than crunchy but that is to be expected when getting takeout, but the flavors were wow. I went with the recommended and was very impressed. Ground beef, pickles, cheese, fries,.... Sooo good! The next time I visit I'll definitely eat in and bring a friend because the large portions are huge! Staff were very friendly and helpful!

We walked around a lot in this area and noticed that Dunn's looked old school and had smoked meat so we gave it a try. The wood and leather booths gave this 99 year old establishment an old school vibe. We were seated pretty quickly in a small booth. Hockey was on TV so that's a good sign. I was not super hungry so I ordered the smoked meat on a bagel, Andrew got the sandwich. The food came out fast but not overly fast. My bagel sandwich was tasty. I liked the thin cut of meat. The fries were as soft as mashed potatoes. They were warm but not close to crispy. Andrew liked his sandwich as well. The bathroom was quite the experience, it was at the bottom of a long, steep staircase in the basement. It worked, lighting was ok, but it was a climb out of there!
