I had several quotes to get the pool cleaned and running again, some of these other companies really tried to gouge me and upcharge me on things I did not want. Bob came out and gave me a very reasonable quote and did not try to upcharge me on anything. Once the pool got cleaned out I decided I should refinish it and add a sundeck. Again they could of gave me an outrageous quote since half the job was done but once again I was given a very reasonable number. Communication was great by phone, text and email. The guys who came out to do the work were very friendly and professional. The job got done in a reasonable amount of time and the pool looks fantastic. The company was know as Walker pools previously but now called Affordable so you can look up both to find them. If I ever need pool repairs again they will be the first ones I call. Since the owner seems to enjoy trying to "dunk" on negative reviews here, I made sure to do my…read morehomework. I've been Yelping for 11 years and only 18% of my 347 reviews have been negative. I only give a negative when a business really deserves it. I don't do reviews on that other browser site, nor social media. As you can see, I previously gave CK them a 5-star review, but my recent experience deserves an honest and factual update. Short version: Please get a 2nd estimate! Long version: Our pool pump was leaking bad and needed a replacement. A CK tech came out promptly, reviewed our situation, and said they would email an estimate. I thought the estimate was not only high, but very high. I got 2 other estimates and they were far less. Upon further research, I noticed CK hoped to charge us an $800 markup for the pump itself and charge us DOUBLE for the separate controller. I completely understand a markup, as they have to stay in business, but these were outrageous. Then the tech spent a great deal of time telling me he could not even install the new pump unless we agreed to have a very expensive "bonding rod" installed and pulling up our pavers. Since our plumbing runs under that area, I really wanted other opinions before I agreed to such a drastic and expensive change. Well, it turns out we already had a bonding rod there, not 12 inches away from our old, leaking pump. Was this an honest mistake, or something more? I guess that is something for the owner and his tech to decide. So, we used another company, saved over $1,500, did not need our pavers pulled up, nor pay for an unnecessary "bonding rod" that was already there. I once was very happy with Chlorine King but no more. If I had read the owner's responses here, I would have never even called them about replacing our pump in the first place. If he put as much effort into customer service as he does his negative review "defense?" Both he and all of his customers would have a lot less headaches!

First impressions were good and then things slowly went downhill after that. Because my husband has been ill and I work out of state a lot we kind of let things slide until I started to see green slime and debris in the pool often after they had serviced it which is weekly. I understand our pool is old and we are currently getting bids on refurbishing the entire pool and deck but simple servicing should not be affected by the age of the pool. When the owner came out after a complaint he clearly said it needed to be shocked but why the guy who comes every week could not identify that and take care of it is beyond me. The weekly cleaning guy comes in and barely scrubs down the sides of the pool. We have a rather large pool and spa and it the whole brushing process takes him less than 2 minutes from start to finish. I have never seen him scrub the spa and have to continually ask him to do so every week. The vacuuming takes a little longer but not by much. Our pool is starting to have some chips and after he vacuums I can go right out and see the same chips that were there before he arrived. When he extends his pole for brushing he frequently hits the top of our screened in roof and I am afraid he will puncture it if not watched carefully. My husband had to speak to him twice as after he vacuums he takes the contents and umps them right outside our screened area where we walk and leaves a mess. That didn't happen more than twice as my husband got pretty mad. The whole cleaning process from start to finish never took more than 10-15 minutes. Recently we had an issue and the owner came over and did a brief servicing and cleaning of the filter which we were told when we hired them that this was an annual service. I can understand paying for any parts but not the service which we had been told was included but once a year only and this was once a year. He never charged us the first time so why he can say it was not included now is beyond me. The cost went up significantly this year and the service went down. Needless to say my husband cancelled our service today. I do not recommend this company to anyone who cares at all about the servicing of their pool. Although the owner is very responsive he rarely takes ownership for what has occurred or his employees. All I got told was he has never had anyone complain and this particular employee who has been with him for years. That is not listening to what the customer has to say at all. I have been in a senior leadership role in health care for many years and know what customer service is about and how critical it is to any good business. This company does not demonstrate that all. To say you have never had any complaints and then to find multiple online is kind of naïve as to what people are saying about your company, Find another pool service company that you can trust and puts you the customer first not this one at all!

Have been using this company for over a year. Service was good up to the last month. This last…read moremonth our pool developed a green algae growth on walls floor and steps. Larry the owner was contacted. He angrily accused us of shutting off pool pump and adding too much water. He also said we could swim in it with the green algae. He never can out to look. We gave his pool tech 2 more visits hoping he would correct the problem but it didn't happen. So we had to fire them. When new service can out they fixed the problem but also stated pool filter must not have been back washed the whole time as it was like mud when they did it. I would not recommend them to anyone because if you have a problem with their service it must be you!
