As mentioned the initial impression of Paulson's sales team was favorable. Our flooring was completed after 3 days of work from 2 excellent floor installation pros. Unfortunately the outcome is substandard compared to multiple flooring installation jobs we have had done in homes in both Mission Viejo, California and Scottsdale, AZ. 1. Paulsons underestimated the required flooring, so the stairs are yet to be completed. The ETA to receive more flooring is 1 month, since this was the original time frame. 2. Edging baseboard reattachment looks horrible. The installers told us we would have to hire another contractor to paint and caulk attach all our baseboards. This is confusing as we have never seen this with our last hardwood floor and porcelain tile plank installation. The finished product looked tidy and polished. Although this current project was 800 sqft upstairs remodel at a $15,000 price tag, I expected similar results to our previous flooring installation experience back in Scottsdale, AZ. Perhaps this is all the unsuspecting customer can expect from Paulson's. We now will need to find a contractor to reattach caulk and paint the baseboards. Plus patch paint scraped walls. More money of course. We were planning on also remodeling our first floor 5 year old luxury vinyl redone with Cortec with Paulsons. However, after this week's install, we seriously having doubts. Lesson learned. A good sales talk from Troy, doesn't mean the customer will have a positive outcome and experience. Very disappointed in Paulsons. I don't believe Mr. Paulson of yesteryear would find the workmanship of our project acceptable. I. Summary the Cortec flooring is beautiful, the installation very concerning. Paulsons floor coverings was the contractor for the flooring in our new home three years ago. Within one year the tile in our bathroom began to lose coloration when you mopped it. It seems the glazing on the tile was done improperly. Paulson did not stand by their product that they sold us and installed, and instead referred us to a manufacturer in the Midwest, who wanted to have nothing to do with us. I wrote this off until bad luck until recently. We also have some luxury vinyl tile Installed in about half the floors of our house. This came with a lifetime warranty. And a half a dozen places the tiles are sliding and overlapping themselves leading to ridges in the surface of the floor. Paulson's said. " we were just the installer contact your builder or the manufacturer." That sounds familiar doesn't it. The manufacturer did a very thorough review and said the problem was due to improper installation and this will have to be repaired at my cost because Paulson does not warranty the quality of their installation. read more

We became very frustrated with big box stores so chose Paulson's in Vancouver since they're a long-established business in our community. The vinyl plank flooring we picked for our living room, hall and bathroom is absolutely beautiful and is wearing very well! Troy helped us with the order and he is an incredibly respectful and consummate professional...just terrific!!! And if that's not all, the installers were scheduled quickly and did an amazing job. From reviews it seems women may be intimidated by the two very congenial gentlemen who are employees; I was a wee bit(maybe 5 seconds) when I walked in but found them to be ready to ask any questions. Very strange experience walking into this place. We're not disreputable looking people, but we were immediately treated like we were going to waste their time. One gentleman at the front desk kindly pretended to not know what the word "remnant" meant (we came in for a small job). They sent us to aimlessly wander the show room for awhile before one of them decided to get up and come talk to us about why we came there. That was a colossal turn-off, so we excused ourselves and drove to the next place on our list, and they were instantly helpful and we ended up making plans to do our small job, plus carpet for our living room, plus linoleum for our kitchen. read more

Wes, one of 2 sales"men" there, was rude to me from the firsr visit. Didnt answer any questions about flooring- told me "the product is over there, go look". I presumed he had a bad day, and I took home some sample boards. I returned those boards. Yesterday, went back to get something different to try- asked him some questions- again, he immediately said "there are 100 boards over there, go look". A man walked in a few minutes later, asking him questions, he immediately jumped out of his chair and started talking with him and walking him to the product. I grabbed a couple boards to check out, and when he came to the desk to check them out, I said "How nice of you to answer all thar man's questions"..He sarcastically said,"So do u think u will find something THIS TIME?" I said, " I hope so"..he sarcastically said "Good answer". I returned the 2 boards today and told Troy, the other salesman I wont be back. I refuse to spend money at a place with such disrespectful people working there, and for no good reason. They rarely have customers in the store- drive by any day of the week, the parking lot is empty except for 1 salesman's vehicle. and I've never seen any female customers. So my theories are: Money laundering- dont want your business, or women haters, or they are paid by rhe competition to sabotage Paulson's business. Go to CFM or Floor and Decor- 100% better selection and customer service..I don't know how they keep the doors open with zero customers. read more

Paulson's and their people exceed our expectations. Tim helped and consulted us on the proper wood flooring and carpeting. Next, he came to measure and inspect our home on his designated day off. While at our home Tim made a comment about removing our carpet from our living/ dining room area and suggested that we replace the area with the wood flooring. What a brilliant idea! (I doubt if a Big Box store would have shared a valuable insight like Tim did.). We are so happy with our new Paulson flooring. read more

The experience of working with Troy and Ron in the Vancouver store was very good. We have no issues whatsoever with the sales experience. Both were polite, helpful, and professional in every way. The installation is a different story. The installation of the flooring was fine, no issues. We reported a gouge in our hardwood floor which appeared to have occurred during installation and never heard back from Paulson's whether it was of concern at their end. We're can't prove the installers did it, but we hadn't noticed it prior to their being in our home. We also noticed another gouge by our front door and we're going to group it with the other one as far as not knowing for sure if the installers did it. Of more serious concern is a leak by the toilet in our downstairs bathroom which was reported by the installer. We were aware of no leak prior to the installer being in our home and realized that the leak may have been caused by the installer, as it was at the toilet water feed valve and the installer had removed the toilet as part of the flooring installation. There is no way we can directly link the leak to the installer and this will end up being like the gouges: cause unclear. What we know for sure is we're going to have to pay to remove and replace some of the flooring in the bathroom because there is water underneath and we can't leave it there. All in all, what happened during the installation has left a very bad taste for us. Again, we can't point a finger with certainty but also can't say we feel good about how things went down. Folks need to be aware that these sorts of things can happen when services are performed and try to take steps to avoid them. The last thing we want to say here is we let Paulson's know up front that we were going to post reviews as above. We never heard back from them and so are left with the impression that they either discounted our concerns or didn't care one way or the other. This only further reinforces our disappointment with Paulson's. read more

We replaced all the carpet on our main floor with tile and worked with Troy. He was excellent, provided good ideas and understood clearly what we were looking for. The experience with Troy and Paulson's is absolutely 5 stars and we will use them again. We had a few issues with the installers. (As is typical, the installers are independent contractors. They are not employed by Paulson's). Their work was excellent, but they showed up without masks and had to be reminded to wear them while in our home (!) They also were several hours late one day and did not notify us that they were running late. read more

I'm just guessing, but I feel that generally the person initially going into these types of businesses are women. As a woman I was extremely intimidated the second I walked into Paulson's Flooring in Vancouver, Wa. There were two manly men (not a compliment) sitting behind a very large counter. There was no effort on their part to greet me and I found it uncomfortable to have to make my way up to them. I was offered an appointment the very next day and was surprised to see one of the two men I saw the day before was also the one doing the estimate. Tim was nice enough, a great talker, and was promised a quote by the next day....that was eight days ago. I called the office today and spoke to Troy, who quite frankly could not be less interested in my situation, he sounded bored and rather bothered to have to tell me that he would get a message to Tim who would call me on Monday. All this together adds up to one company that is just either so complacent or just so indifferent to my rather small-scaled job that I literally fell off their radar....I have zero interest in doing business with these guys and my only suggestion to them would be to hire some women! read more

The man that "helped" us was rude and condescending. When I asked for an itemized bid to see if it would be better for DIY demo, he told me "we're not home depot." Meanwhile my other 2 bids had given us itemized bids without us even asking. Paulson's was more than double our other bids. It was also extremely unprofessional to have a dog in their shop that he repeatedly said was "majorly shedding." My husband has a dog allergy and was miserable the rest of the day. read more

After a great experience with their Tigard location a year ago, we decided to visit the Vancouver store to select our kitchen backsplash. Troy was wonderful to work with. He was very friendly and professional throughout the process, answered our many questions, and made helpful recommendations. We were impressed (almost overwhelmed!) with all the options. Luckily we were able to take home some floor samples to get a perfect match. We were delighted with the independent installer, Yuri. He was polite, efficient, meticulous and tidy. So purchasing a new home I was sent to this location for an appointment with sales representative Nicki! After being very unhappy with the choices... Nicki made a suggestion in regards to my bathroom "countertops". She brought in a pure white countertop... she never said tile, she never discussed grout lines, she said COUNTERTOPS! Months later I am horrified by these ridiculous grout lines in various locations. After me leaving the sales office she added the grout lines... Now I have an installer telling me I signed off on it! In order to cover her own butt is now fabricating the entire conversation. I guess she forgot that I had a friend with me, who can verify HER suggestion and her lack of communication of tile vs countertops! Fantastic experience with this business. We had been thinking of changing the flooring in part of the house and Ron, account manager, was the ultimate example of customer service. He kept the dynamic of my house in mind when coming over to give us a quote on what we wanted. I have a two-year old and he ended up recommending we go with carpeting for the part of the house we were remodeling (instead of wood flooring like we originally thought) after he heard of long-term plans. Amazing, given the fact most businesses will look for the way to make the most money on the sale first. After his visit to the house, we went over to the store to look at carpets and he went out of his way and offered we bring my daughter's tricycle with us because 1) he noticed it at the house and talked with her about how much she liked it, and 2) because it would be a nice way for her to pass the time while the adults shopped and talked. Things like this showed so much customer care. While at the store, he was very attentive and also provided all the time we needed to talk about what we wanted without "someone from the business being right there." The carpet choice we picked we ended up changing our mind about and they were very nice and cooperative with us changing it and going back and choosing something else (we did change our mind the day after we bought it; so it was not that much later). Lastly, the guys who came to install the carpet were amazing as well. They were very professional, respectful, friendly, and quick. They left everything clean after they were done and asked for input and explained what they were doing. All in all, I would highly recommend Paulson's Floor covering for any of your flooring needs. My wife and I are planning a 200k remodel. We went to Paulson's today to view tile, carpet, and flooring. We really wanted to buy local instead of big box. The two guys at the front desk were too busy chatting with each other to help us until we were on our way out of the nearly empty store. We had multiple bids on a flooring project for our kitchen and family room and decided to go with Paulson's Flooring in Vancouver. This was part of a larger kitchen remodel involving multiple contractors. I'm pleased to say that they excelled throughout the process. Paulson's provided good communication, stayed in touch with me, was ready at the point at which we needed floors removed, and then later in the project to have the new floor installed. The measure service was fast and accurate and the installer was very skilled and professional. I cannot say enough good things about them both. I was very confident in their skill level, and it was clear they desired to have a top notch install as the outcome. They showed pride in their work. On the day of the floor install we also had a representative from the Paulson's arrive just to make sure all material was okay. We had one issue with the baseboards, but they got that resolved without issue. The outcome was great, we are very pleased with the customer service, the product and the outcome of the install. Beware if you buy a new house and they use Paulson's Floor Covering. The installation of the laminate was good for the most part, but the carpet appeared to be done in a rush. They are nice and helpful when you are buying and picking out the flooring, but once they have your money they do not feel obligated to follow up. When doing our walk-through we noticed a chip in one of the boards in the kitchen. We have since been told that it is too much work to replace and that there is no color match so we just have to live with it. (This chip clearly would have been noticed by the installer at the time and should have not been used in the first place.) There is also a chip in one of the room divider pieces. We have been told that is easy to replace, but getting someone out to do it is a nightmare. It usually takes at least 3 emails to even get a response and once you do who knows if they will keep the appointment. Twice we have taken off work for scheduled appointments that they just didn't show up for and didn't call. If you choose to use them, just remember, your time is clearly not as important as theirs. Regarding the carpet...every room had issues that needed fixed. There was even a 2" piece of wood left under the padding causing a hard bump in one of the rooms. You would think that you would clear the floor before laying the padding and carpet, but what do I know. We have been in our house for almost a year and a half now and are still fighting to get a simple fix taken care of. read more

My homebuilder uses this terrible business for their floor needs when building. I chose a wood floor for our home build and we have a one year warranty for this floor and everything in our home. Mind you this is the 4th time we have had their so-called installers come in to do repair jobs to this godforsaken floor which is now become our curse, and today marked the one year fix all warranty that was promised by my builder which has a contract with Paulsons. The installer that showed up "Tyler" threw a "fit" because I asked for no shoes or shoe covers to be worn in the home as I have small children and don't want germs tracked all through my house as well as wearing a mask as I am immunocompromised and we are in an enclosed space. He went on a rant about how he doesn't believe in them and never has. To be it's terrible taste to talk about what you believe and why.... I didn't ask and I need you to do what you came to do so I can move on with my day. He then proceeds to tell me that any work he would be doing today he was going to have to eat the cost for. I was a woman alone in her home with small children being attacked by an installer who wanted me to know his beliefs on masks and indoor shoe wearing. At the end of his tirade I chose to have him so as little as posible for fear that he would, out of spite do something else to this dang floor. The floor is low budget and cheap and I was definitely bamboozled by this company. They also installed my tile floor in my master bathroom and the grout had started to crack and tile have begun to shift. My wood floor chips and splints all the time!. Whatever you do DONT use Paulsons, if you want professional people who take pride in the work they do run in the opposite direction!!! You will be stuck with crappy floors and zero accountability for mistakes. read more

It was scheduled for 2 day project and this team of 4 cranked it out swiftly & strategically in one full day. To say we are happy with the results & process is an understatement. We had a poor experience working with Paulson's Flooring. We are currently in the final stages of our new house being built. The tile work is sub-par. They messed up the window frame tile work in kitchen which had to be fixed and we are asked to pay an additional $1775 to put wood floor in our master bedroom - this is something weve had in our plans all along. Paulson's had our master as carpet, something we told them to fix and didn't. I wouldn't use them, they don't pay attention to details. read more

I was so excited to work with Troy and pick out my tile for my bathroom. I spent about $800 dollars on the exact tile that I wanted. Troy told me that he would put the order in Monday and call me ONLY if it wouldn't be here Thursday. I told him I would need to know because my contractor was coming on that Friday to start tiling. Thursday comes and goes and I call Friday to see when I was able to pick up the tile. Troy said "Oh I didn't call you", my response was no, you didn't call me so I am assuming it is there for my contractor to pick up. Unfortunately, the tile "missed" the truck coming from Tigard, SO on a Friday afternoon I had to help myself and drive from Vancouver to Tigard on a Friday night so that I could have tile installed. To make it worse he was rude about refunding the tax spent on the tile, he said "I already gave you 10% off the tile", well buddy that was before you were horrible at customer service. I am totally disappointed because we really wanted to go here to redo our kitchen and other bathroom. He called back and said that I could come in and he could give me my tax money back. It's not about the money, you have wasted my time and are horrible at customer solution problem solving. He showed no remorse and for that, I am not a customer ever again. read more

Had a difficult area on. A sun room with a deck flooring. We were offered suggestions for both an insulated padding and industrial flooring. After much consideration on our part we said we were concerned about the lack of guarantees with industrial flooring. We still needed a low pile and were shown several options. After picking out one we were given the sample to bring home. After Paulson's came out to measure we placed the order. Delivery was as promised and the installation team extremely professional. Even the final cleanup was smooth with no need for asking. The Vancouver store we dealt with was worthy of the five stars from start to finish. read more

Unfortunately, we are in the unsatisfied category. They were nice enough, and offered fine products in our search for new flooring for our condo. In fact, after our initial visit, our intention was to use Paulson's for our whole condo, vinyl in the kitchen, and a combination of bamboo wood and carpeting for the rest of the space, so we started with the kitchen and were expecting to continue after we saw their work. Well, it all fell apart and we were so extremely disappointed. The installers they sent walked back and forth from the kitchen to the garage, measuring and cutting. I noticed this, thought it was odd, and told them an old saying I had learned long ago, "measure twice, cut once". Well, it didn't fit right, and they ended up having to patch the floor in three places. This was very disturbing for us and we called Paulson's, who agreed to guarantee the patching for the life of the flooring, but still, this should NEVER have happened. The whole experience was very upsetting for us and we decided to take the remainder of our business to another company. We would not wish this experience on anyone, and we are very sorry to say that we would never recommend Paulson's. read more

My whole experience at Paulson's on Mill Plain was amazing, from the ease of ordering the carpet to its installation. I had gone to both big box stores to get carpet, only to be told it would be 2 weeks before anyone could come measure, then 4-6 weeks after that for installation. I walked into Paulson's mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and salesperson, Ron, stopped by on his way home that same afternoon to take measurements. By the following Thursday, my carpet was in and it looks/feels great! I bought the low-end, economical carpet, and was surprised by the good quality (when was the last time THAT happened?). The installer, Jose David, did an incredible job and cleaned up perfectly. He even cut an extra piece as a door mat. Overall, my experience with Paulson's was quite pleasant and the outcome is a beautiful new carpet for a very reasonable price. Could not be happier--I will definitely be a returning customer! read more
