The good: I got some kombuchas and frozen food here. They had flavors of Humm Kombucha that I haven't seen elsewhere. The market is in a really cute shopping plaza. Their flower selection looked great. The worker was quick at checking out my items for me. They had a lot of great plants outside the store for sale. The bad: It's pricier than some markets. I was in the need of a few items to celebrate my daughter's birthday at the Santa Barbara Zoo and this is the closest market. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the different offerings of items. There were brands that I had not seen at my local Von's. I actually was not aware that they were the same company because the offerings seemed better, and honestly better priced in my opinion. The checker was very kind and attentive. And he was actually the one that shared about connection with the companies. Where did the ol' Vons Market go? I kinda loved how funky, kinda old, and very real supermarket style, this Vons was....and was for a long time! I, with great chagrin, like these "yuppie" style markets with all their specialty cheeses and $12 box gluten free cookies from some small town in Italy, etc. But with everything getting all pretty and souped- up, I have begun to enjoy and appreciate the gritty places that haven't seemed to change anything since 1972. Rare now and getting rarer. And that was just what this Vons, now Pavilions, was like. And I just loved that they were in the tony, rarified enclave of Montecito! A totally normal grocery store with normal groceries that would be at home in anywhere USA. And I was also just getting used to navigating and finding some of my favorites there. All changed now! I mainly order my groceries online at Pavilions, pull into the parking lot and an employee will deliver them to my car. More often than not, it's an employee by the name of Eric who brings out the groceries. I just want to say that Eric has always been kind and helpful and even remembers that I prefer paper bags to plastic bags for my order. Pavillions could up their game by training employees to have a bit of knowledge about products and which department orders what products. Most of the employees are friendly and helpful but I always keep coming back to Trader Joe's for the best customer service. Their training program shows consistency in pleasant attitude. Also, why has the "service dogs only" sign been taken down? Love dogs but they don't belong in the grocery store. read more

Love Pavilions the store. This location has the worst parking and the store entrance is tucked back away from the parking area.

The prices went up tripple. Select products shrank $30 a pound steak, smaller sandwiches tripple price. I have shopped at former Vons for 40+ years, and you can have Pavilions. I will shop elsewhere now. read more

When Pavilions replaced Vons, the store GREATLY reduced it's selection of organics and other environmentally friendly food options. No more Amy's Soups, Caulipower pizzas, Organics frozen veggie burgers and other healthy things they used to carry. Vons has a lot of unique items! As you go in, look to your right for Signature Select variety cheesecake, a cheesecake chimera of four distinct flavors packed into one tray. To your left, is the $7 36oz precut pineapple party bowl, enough delicious fresh pineapple to make your mouth numb for days. Signature Select ice cream is steps away, and comes in numerous flavors for about $3/quart. This is also the only store I am able to find 24oz vanilla Chobani Complete, and it's only around $4. You'll find a cornucopia of cheeses right by both the tortellini and deli sections. The hot and ready-to-eat rotisserie chicken will fill up your whole home with a poultry aroma, for $7 or less. read more

This is our largest grocery store in Montecito. It's wholly hidden and took me like a week to discover. It's hidden behind Union Bank. The two elements that are cool abt this store: they are sustainable+tech savvy. They recycle paper/plastic bags and the receptacle is adjacent to the entrance. Two, Apple Pay is easy. Who carries cards around anymore, ewww no thanks. Right? It does need a minor structural renovation. read more

Went there and asked a man who was in charge about this service, he was so rude, said the didn't have it, I asked did he know someplace that did, and he rudely said no and walked away,I am was a steady customer at that Vons customer relations being polite doesn't cost a cent. read more

Montecito Vons! My first job was at this very location way back when I was a 10th grader. This is the only Vons in town that did not succumb to the whole Haggen fiasco, and it's easy to see why it's so loved. Firstly, the liquor department is a sight to be seen. It's a dimly-lit room separate from the grocery store itself, and feels very cozy and intimate. The wine selection is excellent, and many of their bottles are sale-priced which is helpful. The store itself is on par with other grocery stores in the area, nothing too special. I do want to give a kudos to the butcher who was working on thanksgiving day. He gave me some useful tips on how to cook my turkey and even provided me with some baker's twine which I appreciated. All in all, a great store that still brings me nostalgia from the days of old! read more

We stopped in this Von's after breakfast at Jeannine's because we were looking to pick up a hummus for our picnic basket while heading north. The parking lot is odd and the grocery store is a bit hidden but there. I figured with them being a Von's I'd lower my expectations since this chain is usually bottom of the barrel near home. Well kids this isn't near home, it's Montecito! I was shocked to find my fav vegan pine nut hummos available here. They carry normal grocery store brands (which I'm not a fan of most of the time) and Whole Foods level selections. Their wine and beer room? Dare I call it just a room, but I don't believe there is a door is surely temperature controlled and one of the best I've seen for a super market nonetheless a Von's. Blew my mind! They did not, not have a single bottle we put to the test. Carrying all of your CA favorites and selections sold out at most stores. We were very impressed! Since we were only stopping in for hummus this review is limited to what our needs were. We did leave with a couple of bottles of wine because their single bottle club card price couldn't be beat. read more

We have recently moved to the area. Everyone in Santa Barbara and Montecito in particular has been so welcoming and friendly, except at the Montecito Von's. The workers there are generally not friendly, and do not adhere to the basic standard of customer service by saying hello and smiling upon coming in contact with customers. Even when we say hello, you barely get an acknowledgment. The workers appear to be generally unhappy. This lead me to believe that there is a problem with management. I gave 2 stars only because of convenience and wine selection. Otherwise there would have been fewer stars. read more

The Montecito Vons is an average Vons except for one important feature. Apart from the usual bright isles of groceries, there is a small liquor section set off like a separate liquor store, with a warmer, more grown-up atmosphere. It's still part of a Vons, with big price labels and little art to the spacing of bottles, but the selection is quite impressive. There are the usual grocery store wines and beers, but also many nicer bottles that I would not expect to see at a Vons. Not just the Doms and expensive whiskers either, but you know, wine store bottles. Nothing crazy or super obscure, I'm sure, but pretty good. Last time we stopped by, Matt B. and I picked up eight big bottles of Telegraph beer, which were on special for under $5 each. We've spent $7 or $8 for Telegraph bottles in L.A., and we were happy with our haul. We were limited to four a person, and we spent a reasonable $19 each. I wouldn't suggest going out of your way for this or any Vons, but if you find yourself at this location, check out the alcohol. You might find something nice. read more

This five star rating for for Felipe in the bakery section!! He went ABOVE AND BEYOND in accommodating a last minute cake needed for a small wedding celebration. In the small time that it took him to decorate the custom cake we got to see what genuine and kind person he is. This Vons is lucky to have such a hardworking employee. Nice little Vons tucked away in a cozy shopping center just off the 101. I came in to buy some carrots and it was a quick and easy shopping experience. Pretty standard store but with extra effort outside to look nice for the area. Nicer plants on display etc. Produce was fresh and attractively organized. Cashier was polite and professional. It was just a quick visit but if I'm in the area and need some groceries I would definitely stop here again. The shopping center also has good shopping/browsing potential. This grocery store should be better managed. It's in a very affluent location but carry few specialty items. Their deli, meat and fish departments, are not sufficiently staffed. Wait time is undoable. They stocked shelves very poorly and items that you use weekly are not available for weeks, eg. cereals. Bagels are hit or miss, it is frustrating enough to stop shopping there. read more
