I sort of feel like once you've seen one Trader Joe's you've seen them all, which is largely positive. They all have a great solution of reasonably priced produce, all your favorite frozen foods, the most reasonable and well stocked beverage selection, and mostly happy, friendly workers. The parking lot is inevitably crowded because people love Trader's and their business philosophy involves procuring cheap rents. This TJ's is all those things. It's not as big as the Eastside one or as crowded as Goleta (when students are in town). I suggest going early or late, but if you hit it after a rush many of your items may be gone. Came in to buy my breakfast and lunch for the next couple weeks. The Grilled Pesto Chicken Wrap is delicious, if you're in need a quick meal I recommend it. They have the little yogurt cups in stock again! The parking can get tricky so arriving early will avoid the rush. Employees are kind and helpful. read more

Usually have good experience shopping at TJ's, however yesterday had an especially nice. The woman at the help desk, have never asked for info before, and the response was more than could be expected. Thank you, wish her name were known. Also, the pork chops bought were super - the best I've had in a long time. Meat is not one of my usual purchases, but based upon yesterday's experience, will definitely pay closer attention to that department. I had an extremely offensive encounter with one of the employees at this location of TJs on De La Vina in SB. This intentionally insulting person was manning cashier number 1, her name is Daina K. and she was extremely rude to me. I go out of my way to be nice to people at TJs and most of the employees are pleasant, but this time I was truly offended by Daina. She wouldn't respond, talk or in anyway acknowledge the customer (me), she looked at me with disgust (for the crime of looking prosperous) then she threw the receipt in my bag and tuned her head to the direction of the next person in line. In a couple of decades of shopping at TJs I have never experienced such a rude employee. I call this vomit inducingly offensive behavior. read more

This will be an interesting one! I was at Trader Joe's the other week, as I usually am, to get groceries because everything at Trader Joe's is just excellent. I had recently been discharged from the hospital and had an episode where I fainted near the checkout. It was pretty scary, but I was so grateful to see that I was surrounded by Trader Joe's staff helping me and ensuring I was comfortable. They had given me coconut water and made sure I was safe until someone came to grab me. It's an experience that reflects Trader Joe's employees going above and beyond for their customers. They were even nice enough to follow up with me via emails and ensure I was doing OK. After the fact, it's little things like this that make me want to come back here as I know I'm always cared for and appreciated as a customer. My friend and I shared the Cheese Tortellini and I chipped my tooth on a small pebble that was inside the filling of the one piece of Tortellini. Costumer service is always amazing and the ambiance doesn't matter if the products are healthy, affordable, and easy to purchase without a huge line. Love Trader's and I count on them. Checker complained that food theft is in the rise and folks just walk out with the food. I asked what HE did about it. He said the guys in the Hawaiian shirts are supposed to handle it but they never (the buck stops there approach). Good to know that the costs will land upon us... the consumer. Terrific TJ's, just DON't Park in the parking lot EVER! It is so small and challenging. Street parking is much better. In this Covid time, the line to get in, even when it looks really long, moves fast. Newspaper boxes are there too. Always a cheery, welcoming, and attentive greeting employee. They are running a tight operation of cleaning carts. Really feels under control and secure. Very efficiently run store. Employees have, time and time again, gone out of their way to help me locate a favorite or find out when it will be back. The mural wrapped around the walls is vibrant and beautiful... never mind waiting in line, there is always something new to see. read more

My favorite TJ, probably. After NYC and the IMMENSITY of hassle associated with grocery shopping, this is just a dream. Also it's a 2 minute walk so I don't have to drive. Line is 5 to 10 minutes these days unless you go before closing, in which case you waltz right in. Store is bigger than I recall and it's quite silly that they make you wait to get in. Santa Barbara is really silly when it comes to the virus. I guess people here just don't understand how lucky they are vs NYC in spring or East LA now. But it's cool. Five to ten minutes doesn't bother me. The real blowmind for me is the booze. 23 bucks for Bulleit. That's 53 bucks in Manhattan on Lex and 61. Not their fault. Liquor lobby is intense and rent is really high. But wow, just never gets old buying booze for under half-price. read more

Love the De La Vina location. Usually well stocked and aisles don't feel as small as other Trader Joe's to me. I also like that there's plenty of street parking nearby if you don't want to deal with the craze that is your average TJ's parking lot! Can I just say THANK YOU to the wonderful staff at Trader Joe's on De La Vina Street! With all this hysteria in the world with the Coronavirus, this team executed an amazing plan! For the first time in a week, I felt safe going into a store to buy necessities. I must have waited 5-8 minutes in line to get into the store (don't be intimidated by how long the line looks) it goes fast and only looks long because they have drawn a 6 ft distance on the side walk with chalk for people to maintain social distance while in line. Absolutely brilliant! They are also limiting the amount of items each shopper can buy, hence avoiding shoppers to hoard items and allow all shoppers to get an opportunity to buy every day items! By the way the selves were fully stocked!!! Again, thank you all of your staff and managers for all your hard work and brining the feel of some normalcy during this time!! read more

Trader Joe's on De La Vina Street is our neighborhood go-to. Always friendly, and helpful employees, fresh flowers (I can't help grabbing a few colorful bunches), plus cool products frequently introduced in a neat TJ-like way. The Marula Facial Oil is incredible (and only $6.99, which is crazy good!) Also better deals on things like GTs Raw Kombucha compared to the oversized, conventional grocery store. With COVID, the smaller, more personal market experience has become the way I love to (and feel a bit safer about) weekly shopping. One of the friendliest spots in Santa Barbara. Chain establishment and friendliness in the same sentence? YES! My spirits are lifted almost instantly nearly every time I shop at this location. The customer service is top notch and it's easy to sense that the employees are genuinely happy and upbeat. I love it. Unlike the other two TJ locations in town, this store does not offer the wider aisles I've come to know and love. The parking lot is also a narrow one but there's usually always a spot open. The merchandise here is on par with all other Trader Joes locations. Good selection of groceries, gift ideas and liquor at remarkable rates. Many of their items' pricing is cheaper than the standard grocery store which is a win in my book. This place gets very busy during peak hours. My recommendation is to shop during an off-hour for the best experience. read more

Parking here: NIGHTMARE!! Other than that, this TJ's is super great. Generous flower section at the entrance to the store, and overall the store is decent size and does have a vast selection of everything. I really enjoy how they always have great samples in this location. Coffee, cheese, food, snacks, and cakes all greet you as you sample new products you did not even know existed. I wish they would bring back the frying cheese it was sooooo bad but ohhhh soooo delicious! read more

This is the best Trader Joe's in SB/Goleta. It is slightly more spacious in the produce section than other locations. Also it's easiest to get a parking spot here and the lines aren't as bad. I find that the parking lots for our TJ's are worse than those of many other cities, however. Bags are 10 cents each. read more

At the De La Vina store the cashier, Taralyn, was ringing up the man in front of me and I realized he had some special needs. She obviously knew this and was treating him so well! She was very perceptive and recognized his disability ( it's not necessarily easy to spot!) She took just a little bit of extra time to be patient with that customer. Good for her! This was definitely my favorite place to shop in Santa Barbara. I would stock up on their marinated mahi mahi, cottage cheese (I love TJ's cottage cheese!), cereals, rosemary bread, mac & cheese, string cheese, and more. Then, as I checked out, the checkers were always incredibly friendly! My only complaints are that the parking can be a huge challenge at this location and they stopped selling the frozen thai chicken California Pizza Kitchen pizza which was so delicious! read more

The SB de la Vina store is one of my all time favorite TJ'S though the Milpas store far outshines it as far as products and merchandising space. This is the first TJ'S in SB I think and certainly my first tj's experience years ago in this my adopted home of SB. Today at about 11am everything was.well stocked and looking spiffy including the check out people who were bursting with charm and more importantly. ..product knowledge. I was here for Wine and happily they were in Stock on the Josh Rose, the Josh Chard and the Trader Joe's reserve Chard from Sonoma. Good haul! I usually prepare my own salsas but the TJ'S Hatch Green Chili is pretty terrific. Originally I was skeptical about jarred Salsas and in Hatch chilis specifically . I mean Hatch chilis are basically Anaheim Chilis grown in Hatch, New Mexico. I thought: how could these chiles taste better, more pungent, pack more heat than their brother chilis from California? Well they do on all counts. Believe me, the Hatch green Chilis are very tasty indeed. All I all an excellent visit to this Trader Joe's. read more

Every time I come here someone who is working greets me with a smile and a hello. They always ask me if I need help finding anything and if I do help me find it. Everyone who works at this location is very friendly and I always have a great experience when I come here. They have the best prices, best selection, and the best new products. I love the TJ newsletter they send out because it makes me buy new food every time I come shopping. They have a great wine selection, which makes my wine and cheese nights easy to shop for. I also love the return policy here. If you don't like it, bring it back. If it goes bad faster then it says, bring it back. They always take everything back and give you a refund, which is really nice. The only downfall to this place is the parking lot. This parking lot is always so busy even during the middle of the day on a Monday. I usually tend to park on the street so I can avoid the parking lot all together. read more
