Do not do business with these people. They hold your shoes/boots and don't do anything with them while telling you your footwear is so unusual that they can't do anything with them after they run you around with lies that the glue is drying or some other lame excuse. After a month of not returning or leaving messages and not being there during their scheduled work hours, I surprised them by showing up unexpectedly and demanded that I get my boots back they finally gave them back to me... if I could leave a minus 20 star I would. I dropped off my purse back in November. It's now April 20th. I was told many times it has done. We have driven to Mentor over 15 times, which is not close for us. She is either not there or when we did see her the three times she actually was there she said it's not done. We say but you said it was, oh well I had to redo it. The last time we went she claimed it was done however it wasn't there. We said why is it not here. She said sometimes I take work home. She promised to deliver next day, but she was a no show. We have called every day since - over 8 calls and a trip back to Mentor. No answer it again she's not there. At this point it appears we will have a small claims court. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. It appears she either maybe sold my name brand item or wearing it around the town. This is absurd. We were going to give her so much business as we told her at initial drop off. We haven't gotten my item, we lost our deposit and it's so disheartening as I was given this gift from my Dad in October who sadly passed unexpectedly in December. I paid a deposit to have it fixed. She claimed she'd fix it no problem. now I'm out of a deposit. Can't get my item back and I lost the last gift my Dad ever gave me. Do NOT go there. read more

All sorts of stores get busy around the holidays. I get that. But man was I disappointed in this little shoe repair place in Mentor, OH. As I mentioned in my previous review, I was the idiot who only brought one pair of boots with me to visit my parents. So, when the heel cap once again got worn down due to my walking habits, I had to find somewhere to fix it while I waited. I searched and found this place with the Yelp App and it had no reviews. I stopped by thinking it would be a close, fast adventure. Wrong. As I pulled up I saw a huge sign illuminated that said "heel repairs while you wait", so I'm sure you could imagine my excitement! I walked in and watched as the lady at the counter was slightly impatient with the man who came in before me. He wanted some snaps fixed on his coat and she told him it would take 5 days. For a couple snaps? That should have been my warning, but I scooted up to the counter anyways and tried to explain my problem. I mentioned I saw the "heel repairs while you wait" sign outside and that I only had one pair of shoes. She basically told me "no" very coldly and said that she didn't have time. Keep in mind that it takes 5 minutes, tops, to replace heel caps. I wasn't asking her to sew in a zipper on my leather boot or something. So, I tried to work with her one it. I asked if I could wait around and see if she had time. Nope. Notta. Nothing. Then I asked if there were any other places around that could help me. Well, of course not. Fine. I think I'm going to call her and tell her about the amazing service I got later that day at Coventry Shoe & Leather Repair. Oh, and how I'll be bringing all my other repairs out to Coventry as well. That way she'll be sure to have lots of extra time. She should probably take that "heel repairs while you wait" sign down too. read more

The woman who owns the store (Josephine) took my shoes for over three months. I finally got them back after threatening to take her to court (I showed up at her store with the filing paperwork in hand and I was not bluffing.) - At month one, she said my shoes were ready but she left them at home (why did she take my shoes home?). - She said she would send them to me via UPS. They never arrived so I called her. She said she used the wrong zip code and they were returned to the wrong store. - She then said she would send them the next morning - SHE PROMISED! I asked her to text me the tracking number. She didn't. - I called her. She said UPS didn't come so she would drive them to UPS herself and then text me the tracking number. She didn't. - She stopped answering my calls to her cell phone and stopped responding to my text messages. Radio silence. - I went to her store on a Saturday. She was closed even though it was during her posted business hours. I looked in the back window. There were my shoes, sitting in a pile of other shoes about two feet high - NOT RESOLED. She had been lying to me for three months. - I showed up at her store the next Wednesday in the middle of the day, showed her the lawsuit paperwork and she returned my shoes and my deposit. She's a lying scammer. I cannot say enough about how terrible she is. read more

Terrible experience. It took nearly a month to get my boots back. I dropped them off to have 6 lace rings replaced, she said 4-5 days. 3 times she promised they would be done on a certain day. 3 times I drove there and they were not ready, each time with a new excuse why. Finally on week 4 I got them back. When I returned home, I realized she only replaced 4 of the 6 rings. Dishonest and terrible service. Avoid this lady. read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. My fiancé dropped 2 pair of boots off on December 28th to get both pairs re-soled. Paid $65 up front ( her requirement). I called on January 11th she said the would be ready on the 14th. I do not live in Mentor so I did not get back there until February 2nd. She lied and said we told her we weren't picking them up until the 7th when I reminded her of our conversation she started stuttering and said she would UPS them on the 4th. I called on February 6th to be told she mailed them on the 5th and we would have them on 8th. Called everyday the 9th - 14th and she would not answer. Went there on the 15th and asked for tracking number. She once again lied and said it was at her house and promised to call me on 2/16. Never heard from her. Filed small claims lawsuit!!! read more

I recently had to get a zipper repaired on my bootie, the lady was very nice to me and she did an excellent job.

She had items for 2 months! picked up today, boots were suppose to be polished and waterproof but looks like she put oil on them and that is it, still dust under the straps!!!! and now there are new but covered up scratches on the outside of boot, I am very angry! paid $20 to get these looking like new and not even close. I took a pair of Nine West leather boots in to have the zippers replaced...easy job, right? Well, first off, I was told that she was going on vacation ( in a week) and couldn't get them done until a week after her return...for a total of 4 weeks. Wow, I thought...busy, that's good, I paid my deposit and left the boots. On the promised day, I called and was told that the boots were still in their storage facility and that they would be done the next day. I called the next day, the same story. I called the following day and was told that, sorry the key had broken in the lock and they now had to wait for the landlord to help open the storage unit...another delay, call tomorrow. I called the next day and , yay, they had the boots but they weren't yet repaired, 'cause she was having emergency dental problems and my boots would be ready the next day. Finally, the next day, I was told that they would be ready after 4:00 pm that day. When I picked up the boots, the zippers WERE replaced, but the boots weren't shined nor were the badly worn heel taps replaced. Now, I know I didn't ask for heel taps, but, my gosh, after having my boots for almost 6 weeks...wouldn't you think that they'd maybe do a little extra? AND, I have NEVER, taken shoes to a repair shop and had them replaced WITHOUT being polished!!! I live in Mentor, and like to use local businesses, but NEVER AGAIN!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this shoe repair place. We had a pair of very expensive tall riding boots with a broken zipper. I called Pavo's and explained the problem and that we needed the boots in 2 days because my grand daughter had a Horse show on Sunday. She told us to bring them in and she'd let us know if she could get them done. (On the way to Pavo's we stopped at another place in Painesville across from DQ and the lady there just about laughed in our face...no way to get them done in 2 days) The lady at Pavo's looked at the boots, told us she could do it and that they'd be ready on Saturday before 2:00. She did exactly what she said and the zipper repair was beautiful. Great job, HaPpY Grand daugher, and outstanding customer service. read more

If I could give this scam artist 0 stars I would. I live out of state and my mom brought my beautiful Coach purse in for this woman to fix a strap IN THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER. My mom went back over and over and over (x5) and this women had excuses every single time. EVERY TIME, for months!!! We eventually demanded the purse back and it was finally handed over in the BEGINNING OF MARCH and let me tell you, this work was an absolute disaster and she should be ashamed of herself. The strap was destroyed at the end (due to her work) and she covered it in glue with random pieces of thread sticking out of it. She did NO work within the 4+ months that she had this purse and charged my mom upfront for it. She is nothing but a scammer and took total advantage of my mom. During my ~4 month experience with Pavo's, I was seemingly lied to multiple times about the progress made on my boots and what had been done/where they were. For reference, the Cleveland BBB has 3 complaints filed against Pavo's all within the last few years. (see http://www.bbb.org/cleveland/business-reviews/shoe-repair/pavo-s-shoe-repair-in-mentor-oh-27001901/complaints#breakdown) In my opinion, the public deserves to hear about a shopkeeper who misrepresents her work to her customers and does not provide promised service weeks/months after the date the work was said to be done. 4 months to re-heel boots and the work was still not completed (nor started). Similar to other Yelp reviews, I was told that the boots could be fixed within a week, which sounded completely reasonable for a re-heeling. I attend college 2 hours away from this shop and came back the weekend following when I dropped them off to pick up the boots. I was then told that the boots were still not ready. Frustrated, I asked when I could pick them up if not today. She suggested I give her my school address so that she may ship them to me when they were finished. About a month later, I still had not received the boots and I was headed home once more. I stopped by her store once again and was told that she had attempted to ship the boots twice. She could not produce proof that she had sent them. Additionally, when the boots and initial deposit were returned, no work had been done on them. Why would someone attempt twice to return boots by mail when no work had been completed? Fast forward some time and a number of unanswered phone calls to her shop, I had stopped one more time in her store to demand a refund and my boots back only to be told that she had just returned from out of town and had my boots in "storage", whatever that might mean. I left empty handed. About a week later, my mother took my service ticket into the store and would not leave until a resolution was reached. My mother sent me pictures of the boots that she was about to have returned to her. THEY WERE NOT THE BOOTS I HAD GIVEN HER! After she found the right boots, the shopkeeper called me to scold me for having my mom pick up my boots... After ~4 months of having my boots (most of the winter) she had not done any work on the boots. The boots and the deposit were returned eventually with nothing but headaches achieved. Warning. Do not use this place! They don't even deserve 1 star! I have timberland boots that my dog chewed and I needed them the winter. I took the boots to her in November 2014 and I still have not gotten them back! I have called and she kept telling me she's almost done and will call me back. I have waited two months without calling to see if she would call. Nothing! I tried calling her today and the phone was not working. So I drove all the way there from Geneva and when I went to open the door, it was locked! The sign was illuminated and said that hey we're open till six. Once I can get ahold of her, I'm demanding my boots back and the $20.00 I paid six months ago!!! This is ridiculous! read more

I brought boots to get cleaned and shoes to widen. The boots were never cleaned except for wiping up off front of boots a bit. To get my boots I had to pay for fees for complete cleaning. I gave her basis tennis shoes to widen. They were never widened and she said they were and charged me money again to get my shoes. My feet hurt after I wore the shoes and this never happened with any other shoe repair. Do not go there for shoe repair. She swindles you no matter what she says she repairs. read more

This shoe repair store is excellent! Best in town, I think! The owner is sweet, honest and gives me good advise on if I should spend the money replacing the heels, if the dye will work on changing colors of shoes, and purses. She is VERY honest about if a shoe can be salvaged. She also gives me great suggestions on modifying a shoe heel height. I greatly appreciate that! I totally trust her! read more

Had them resole a pair of boots. First they required two weeks. I came back in two weeks and they needed a few more days. Came back in a few more days and they needed a few MORE days... "to make them really perfect". When they were finally done, it was a hack job. The part above the sole (midsole?) was gone, the entire sole was now just the thickness of the vibram outsole. The heel portion was attached with drywall screws and the rest started coming unglued within days. The gore-tex liner was cut so they were waterproof no more. My favorite boots are now junk. It boggles the mind that these inept hacks are still in business. Maybe they do other stuff well, but keep them away from boots. read more

I took two pair of shoes to be repaired. When I went to pick them up I received one pair and they did not know where the other pair was, they would look and call me. I did not hear from they so I went back in and I was told the storage facility. It took over a month of going into the store till I finally got my shoes back. read more

I love Pavo's. They've fixed probably 20 pairs of shoes for me over the last 10 years. I don't really know what the bad reviews are about, this is not a big chain with fancy customer service and the normal corporate b.s. trying to make the customer feel good about theirself. I wish I would have read the reviews before attempting to use this business. I have a pair of Harley Davidson boots with double zippers in the front of the boot, one of the zippers was worn and would not hold together so I took it to Pavo's The lady there told me it would be a week and cost $20.00 to replace. I said fine I have about 3 weeks before I go on my bike trip. One week later I called and called with no answer, I left a message not returned so 2 days later I stopped in. She stated that she was still waiting on the new zipper and it should be there in a couple days. I again stopped and still no zipper, boot still broke. I told here just give me the boot back and I would try somewhere else because I was down to a week before my trip. She guaranteed the boot would be done by Friday. I stopped Friday and she said it was done so I picked it up and took it home. She had stated she used the zipper pull from the old zipper because it said Harley Davidson on it so they would match. When I got home I looked closely and at that time I didn't think she replaced the zipper because there were no signs of the old one being removed and a new one sewn in. The lady just plain lied, the zipper was never replaced, she just put the zipper back together and charged me the $20. I will never use this place again and every chance I get I will tell people just how dishonest this old woman was. The zipper pulled apart on the first day that I wore the boot on my trip. So I go back and after another week she said she had some power problems and would be a few more days. So I just go in now and she says they're not ready and would still be some more days and she could drop them off. I said forget it I want my shoes and deposit back. I took two expensive handbags to Pavo's in mid-November. They both needed a simple repair where the strap attaches to the purse. I was told they would be ready in 10 days. I came back 14 days later and she said that she didn't have my purses, that they were at her storage unit. She said to come back on Friday and that she would have them. I went on Monday and she said she hadn't had a chance to get them from the storage unit. She offered to deliver them to me at my home two days later. I agreed. She asked for my address and phone number and I asked for her cell phone number. She never delivered them and the phone number she gave me was for the shop, and it does not have voicemail and no one answers it. Today (a week later) I went in for the third time over 5 weeks to pick up my purses. She had them there, but had not done the work!!! At that point I told her that I wanted my bags back and a refund of my deposit. I also told her that she was a liar and a shady business person. She told me to get the f%@k out of her store. Wow, what horrible customer service! Before my moms business trip her heel tip broke so she asked me to get it repaired while she was away. I found Pavo's through a google search and went in. The lady was nice when I dropped it off but I thought it was odd I had to pay the entire price up front. She.promised it would be ready in a few days. After the promised date my mom was back in town and she went to pick them up but the store was closed. So she traveled back to her home out of state. I went to pick them up and the lady gave me a hard time not having a ticket. I told her the situation and that I already paid...she said she would look but didn't have anything matching my shoe description. After she said she didn't have my shoe she went back to saying she wouldn't give it to me without the ticket. She refused to even accept a picture of the ticket that my mom could send me. She stated she didn't have time to look for my shoe because she had other customers to take care of. (No one else was in the store!) I would never go back or recommend it to anyone! read more
