Been using for years - had stopped going because our dog had passed away. After a while without we have a new puppy. Awesome staff, dog is tired and happy every time picking up. To other reviewers, Yes my pup can on occasion have an odor, like that when she wrestles with other dogs at the dog park, thats what playing and slobbering with 50 dogs for 8 hours will do, I wipe her down with a wet rag (on occasion have them give her a bath as an extra service) and move on. Dog absolutely loves it - only place I've found that staffs the outside yard with multiple people. Its a dog park on steroids. I have done a few overnights there and at my vets office as well. I love my vet, thats not my point. When I kennel at the vet for overnights, the dog absolutely is rattled every time. Its the difference of being crated for the majority of the stay and having a crate to sleep in and playing on the playground with friends for the waking hours. She has loved her stays at pawpaws (by her response, its not like she told me.....) and I absolutely have to drag her to the kennel at the vet. Result has spoken for itself. On a final note, one of the guys there (sorry forgot your name) will give me feedback on training and will take a minute in the lobby to calm her down upon pickup and give me some tips - I'm always appreciative of how kind and thoughtful they are. read more

Terrible Experience! Made a reservation to board 2 small dogs at the 7114 peach Ct location in Brentwood. It was my 1st time there and asked them what we needed. They said to bring all vaccine papers and that was it. Got there and they said the dogs needed a test and could not stay and on top of that they were full and could not take them. I said we made a reservation and not one said anything about a test. If we had known that we would have gotten the dogs tested a few days in advance. So we had to scramble to find someone at the last minute to watch our dogs. Terrible, terrible communication from Paw Pals. read more

Unfortunately I have to say the standards of this facility have really gone down hill. We have had good experiences in the past but as of our last three times dropping off our dog we have been more and more disappointed. This last pickup our dog was in deplorable condition with spots of dog poop on his face. Vomiting all day and incredibly thirsty all day. This is not coming from inexperienced eyes. I previously worked in a dog kennel and would never imagine handing an owner back their pet in this condition. read more

Our pup goes to half day doggie daycare during my busy season when I don't have time to take her to the dog park in the morning. PROS: They offer half days which is awesome because I don't typically need to bring her by for a full day. She seems super tired when she comes home! WIN. Most of the staff are wonderful and know her by name when she walks in the door. I like that they are a smaller business. CONS: I agree with one of the other reviewers, one dude does yell at the dogs to stop barking. I mean, that is what dogs do? She is kind of smelly when she comes home. Can't place why but it is a thing. Disclaimer - I have never boarded her here, haven't done grooming and typically doesn't go the entire day. All in all, a great alternative to the Dog Park when you are busy and you don't want your dog to suffer for it! read more

We've always had a great experience with Paw Pals. All you have to do is say "Paw Pals" to our chocolate lab and he gets so excited. Everyone there knows him by name and they're always excited to see him. They know him so well they can pick him out of six chocolate labs even when he's not wearing his collar. (He plays in their pool a lot so we like to take it off when he's there to prevent mildew.) The staff is extremely friendly and they don't have a lot of turnover, so we get the same friendly faces every time. I love Paw Pals. Note: we exclusively use the Franklin location. read more

I couldn't leave my dog there. I'm sure they're nice - but here's the first 10-minutes of my experience there... I pulled up & opened my door. The first thing I hear is a guy (an Employee) yelling at a dog to stop barking. Not once - repeatedly. Not like a Trainer, but like a guy who hates barking dogs. Next I walked inside. The place smelled like the employees have all lost their sense if smell, and don't know what STINK is anymore. It was breaktaking. Simply awful. Next was the employee response to a question. Simply unprofessional. Last straw was the justification of the screaming guy outside... "You have-to yell to make them stop barking, because if you don't, then they'll all start barking" This place may be awesome for the local clientele they serve, but if you're from out-of-town and accustomed to any level of professionalism in Pet Care, look elsewhere. read more

Our dog Olie loves Paw Pals and has boarded here now 4 times. He loves the dog park philosophy and being able to play with other dogs. I at first was annoyed with having to bring him in for a first visit, mandatory evaluation, but now understand the importance of this requirement. If your dog is not social, aggressive or uncomfortable with other dogs, this is not the place for your dog. One time, while Olie was staying here, he decided to start eating all the dog hair he could find. This led to him being very uncomfortable. The staff noticed this and immediately took him to his vet and called me. He received a shot to calm him, and X-rays. $300 vet bill, yikes! When I picked up Olie a few days later, he was happy and great. I expected to pay the vet bill, but Paw Pals took care of it. After being boarded here, your dog will be smelly and dirty, like a kid, from all the playing. They do not currently provide full service grooming, but do offer a bath, nail cutting (does not include filing, so they end up sharp), ear cleaning. Paw Pals is great! I love Paw Pals, but more importantly my pup loves Paw Pals. When we pull into the parking lot in the morning I can barely get myself out of the car before Pablo my is flying out the car door in front of me. During the day while I'm at work (I work in downtown Franklin, very convenient) Paw Pals posts pictures of the pups playing on their Facebook page, which is wonderful. I love finding a picture of Pablo hanging out with a bunch of other dogs. Makes me feel good about what he's up to during the day. However, the very best part is that by the time I pick Pablo up he's exhausted. We always have a nice quiet night at home after a day of Paw Pals. What more could a gal ask for? Other perks: They offer $2 baggie lunches if you forget to bring your dogs food, they do nail trimmings, and they offer really good package discounts. If you know you'll be a frequenter of Paw Pals those are really the way to go. Oh, and second dogs get in for half! We are getting into the fostering scene so that is great for us. We love PawPals! Our dog Sadie comes here at least two days a week. She is always happy and exhausted when she comes home at the end of the day. Does it smell in there? Um yeah a little! But it's a dog care facility so that's to be expected. Our dog doesn't smell that bad herself when she leaves, although sometimes she is soaking wet from playing. I really really like Paw Pals and so does my dog, Lyla! Their prices and small nature of the business make it far superior to similar doggie day cares in the area (i.e.: My Second Home). It seems like less of a manufactured business and more like a locally owned company that actually cares about you and your pet. Their prices are less than other day cares I have taken my dog to (for both day care and over night care), and it is less crowded meaning that you don't have to call weeks in advance just to make a day care reservation for your dog (which, again, you have to do at My Second Home). They also have packages you can buy if you plan to take your dog there often, which is more cost effective than paying per visit. Because it is a smaller business, sometimes when you come in the front, no one is there, but all you have to do is ring the buzzer and someone comes up right away. And since it's not as crowded, you are helped right away instead of having to wait in line for them to help other customers / dogs. And it's nice to know that the people who work there actually spend time with the dogs and care about their well-being. I have a lab, so obviously she LOVES swimming and I am so happy that Paw Pals has pools for her to play in. Usually when I pick her up she is soaking wet, which can make the ride home interesting, but I always have a seat cover in my car for this very reason, so I don't mind much. I have not used their grooming services yet, but plan on doing so the next time I take her there. I also like how they are open until 6:30 pm, which means I don't have to rush from work in order to pick her up, and they are open 7 days a week. A lot of other doggie day cares I have used do not have such flexible hours, so this is a huge plus. read more

Forget top-notch. How about starting with having acceptable standards? Took my dogs in for the first time for their required temperament testing. Also got a bath scheduled for both of them. I was told they will be ready by 3-3:30pm. Picked up my dogs at 3:45pm and one of them was still wet. Not damp, WET. I'm not sure how long my dog sat there wet. It's 25 degrees outside, and even if they were indoors the whole time, imagine wearing a wet fur coat indoors?! Who does that?! When Dan addressed this with me over the phone - he said, "well that's our bath process. They stand inside a cage with a fan blowing in-front of them to dry", and "we're not groomers, we just wash them as you would at your own home". This bath wasn't free by the way. This is a paid service. Totally disappointed with the lack of care with my dogs, and Dan displayed NO pride in what this establishment does. This place is NOT for pet owner's who refer to their dogs as part of the family. read more

This is a very nice facility. The staff is friendly and prices are on par with the area. They do not leave the dogs in kennels during the day which is great. Both my dogs came home worn out both after half a day and a weekend. The only negatives I have are that I would love if they had videos in the play area to watch the dogs play. Also, both times I took my dogs, my Doberman came back with his paw basically raw. I'm not sure if it's from the turf that they use or what. But he was limping for a couple of days. read more

Paw Pals has a great setup which is so important to making dogs feel comfortable and happy. These people understand dog behaviors. I had a poor experience at Oliver's Daycare and I was discouraged. Then I remembered Paw Pals, only a couple bucks more, and I was so happy that we brought our dogs here. We have one dog who has been there before and we brought our other two in for a temperament test at Paw Pals in Brentwood. I realized that my dog's bad experience at Oliver's was not caused by my dogs, yet due to their poor set-up and how they treat their dogs. They had a great time at Paw Pals. I believe they were treated well and they had a much more comfortable experience here at Paw Pals. Of course we will be using them in the future. read more

I bring my dog Banjo to the Brentwood location once a week and he absolutely LOVES it. Banjo is a very happy dog in general, however nothing gives him quite the reaction of pulling into the paw pals parking lot, that's when the jumping, "talking" and uncontrollable joy starts! The staff is phenomenal! They're great about keeping me informed on how banjo is doing. The one time there was a small incident (another dog attacked mine) they were quick to handle it, let me know, and bent over backwards to remedy the situation, and made sure the aggressor wasn't welcome back. That only instilled in me that they have me, and my dog's best interests and safety in mind. All in all I love Paw Pals, and more importantly, so does Banjo! read more

Hard to believe this place is as good as it is! The employees that work there are truly dog lovers and amazingly the prices are some of the lowest I had found. Over a dozen people had told me about PawPals prior to bringing my puppy initially, and I was skeptical due to having bad experiences at two other places prior. I was initially surprised and impressed when they told me she would undergo "Aggression Testing" the first day; in order to be sure she was not a threat to the other dogs. Since that time, she has been going to their daycare there during the week each day. I was surprised one day when they took the time to call me to simply to inform me there were some issues with her stool. My pup has also had two great experiences boarding over night for 4-6 days each time at PawPals as well. And it never fails... Every time I pull in the parking lot she can't get out of the truck fast enough with that tail just a wagging. read more

So this place like most daycares offer a one day Temperament day to see how the new dog gets alongs with others..unless you have an English Bulldog. No temperament test..nothing they straight up deny your request. So we took our dog and money to My Second Home where he was given Dog of the Day honors which includes them giving him a free bath! For Daycare, PawPals is a good place to go. However, each time we've done overnight boarding, our pup has come home with Kennel Cough and had to be put on antibiotics. You never get to see where the dogs stay overnight, they just take them from you as soon as you walk in the door (which is kind of helpful for the sake of having to fill out the drop off sheet) but we have no idea just how clean the kennel area is. The outdoor area can be seen through holes in the fence meant to sneak a peek. We'll keep going for daycare, but overnights will probably have to be somewhere else. read more

I take my Husky Leo to the Brentwood location. He has severe separation anxiety and this dog mom is a worrier. From the second I spoke to Daryl about Leo's assessment I felt at ease. He understood my worry, he understood Leo's issue and he takes the time to get to know you. I just can't say enough about how amazing they are. Leo is tired when he gets home, but most importantly, I had to run an errand quickly one night last week and left Leo alone for the first time since he started at Paw Pals- and he was fine when I came back. Somehow the daycare has made his anxiety better even when he didn't go that day!!! read more

I'm comfortable taking my Australian shepherd to Paw Pals, although I'm hesitant to do so frequently or for extremely long days. Sometimes I feel like she's apprehensive to go, but that may likely be a separation anxiety thing and nothing to do with Paw Pals. The employees are always friendly to me and friendly to her. My dog will recognize certain employees and go to them with ease while others she suddenly gets puppy paralysis and doesn't want to move. They assure me she has fun when she gets in the play yard and I love that they post pictures on Facebook - makes me feel even more comfortable when I see her. They're extremely conveniently located and easy to get in and out of, and their hours are excellent. Prices are good, too. $15 for up to 5 hours is what I usually do. Never used them for grooming or boarding. It does seem like they have an awful lot of dogs in the yard and I don't think there is an indoor option so I try to avoid taking her on extremely hot days or extremely wet days. She does usually come back stinking but I feel like that's to be expected. read more

I would highly recommend NOT taking your dogs to Paw Pals and would recommend My Second Home or Camp Bow Wow. My lab and goldendoodle did their interview day at the Franklin location and all was well. I was not impressed with the facility, but everyone seemed nice. We gave the Brentwood location a try a week later and we will never go back. They actually misplaced our 4 month old GoldenDoodle. They brought out two wrong dogs, before realizing our dog was not in the yard, but was actually in a kennel. He had been placed there and forgotten at some point in the day. No one knew for how long. They explained after looking for him for 20 minutes that he was there because he and another dog had a spat, and they were put in time out. (I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS AT ALL- SO THAT'S A SECOND ISSUE) Who puts a dog in timeout? Beyond doing that, they forgot my puppy was in a cage and who knows how long he was there. He had feces stuck to him where he had gone to the bathroom on himself. They sent him home upset and messy. My husband picked him and our lab up, so I had to call back to hear what happened. I received a refund for the day, and an apology, but no explanation as to why any of the issues occurred. read more

We recently boarded our dogs at Paw Pals in Brentwood Tennessee. During the time they were there two of our dogs were injured, one so seriously that she had to be taken to an emergency vet after hours for care. The owner/manager made one attempt to contact us and when we returned the call minimized the injury. Once we picked up our pets, it was obvious that our dog (a 6 month old puppy) had been attacked and no one intervened as she had multiple puncture marks on her body and teeth drag marks. She also had several areas where rashes had developed, kennel cough and a urinary tract infection. Both our puppy and our 1 year old dog had lost weight. Our 1 year old had a large lump on the bridge of her nose with a quarter sized scab --likely caused by attempting to get out of a cage. Our dogs have boarded multiple times in multiple places both in Ohio and Tennessee and we have never experienced this type of neglect and abuse of animals. read more

Best in Franklin!! Daryl and his crew allow my dog to have a blast, wear herself out and give me peace of mind knowing she is well taken care of if for the day or for overnight boarding. My dog gets to play with a pack of happy dogs for up to 11 hours a day whether there for the day or overnight, unlike other kennels in the area. No frills, its not fancy, but I prefer to have a happy dog than the glitz and glitter. read more

Unfortunately I have to say that I am disappointed in this business, especially based on the reviews and my pets reactions. Pros: Most importantly, my dogs appear to love it and are exhausted after being there. However, based on the service that I received when picking them up I do not believe we will be back. Cons: They were given exact feeding instructions (written on paper in the box) and somehow in 4 days my dogs were fed almost a full bag of dog food that usually lasts about two weeks. Secondly, they have a policy about picking up at the exact time of drop off for boarders, which we had no idea about. We assumed the wording "same time of day" meant morning/afternoon/evening. My husband dropped the dogs off at 815/830 in the morning and I picked them up at 9:50 a few days later. They charged $30 (after initially trying to barge $45) for this extra hour and a half. It just felt like they were taking advantage and trying to make more money any way possible. If this is going to be their policy I feel strongly that they should make that clear before boarding. read more

My sister introduced my dog to pawpals a couple years ago and he has loved it ever since! He was shy and timid at first, but they said he adjusted well on his very first day! I recently had him boarded over the Mother's Day weekend while family was in town and when I picked him up, they told me he had just got through swimming with the employees in the pool! What daycare for dogs do you know of that has this much fun or activities for the dogs?! What was even better... I picked up one tired pup afterwards! I should mention this is for their Brentwood location, but still... This week, my dog was bitten at PawPals. The manager watched as my puppy tried to play with the other dog, who did not want to play. She said she 'could tell the other dog didn't want to play' and then, the dog BIT MY DOG, pretty badly. They then called me to tell me my dog had been bitten so I should come get her. The other dog who had bitten her was STILL OUTSIDE with all the other dogs and wasn't even taken for a time out nor did they have his owner come get him. They proceed to lock up my dog until I get there and when I arrived I could hear her crying. They refused to tell me which dog it was that bit her to see if the dog had ever been reported before. They also not only don't report the dog's aggressive behavior but continue to let the dog sit outside with others. I find this ridiculous. They were dismissive of the fact I thought so, didn't even apologize, offered a 'possible discount' for vet treatment for the wound. I realize this review is long but I think its important to note this. They do not seem to watch the dogs nor have any compassion for the animals. I am mostly angry they wouldn't tell me which dog attacked my dog. A co-worker of mine also brought her dog there once and did not have a good experience. They also called me once because they said my dog had too much energy and I needed to come get her. This was when she was 7 months old. We immediately enrolled her in a puppy training program and had great feedback. Needless to say I would not bring my dog here since they allow aggressive dogs and cannot tolerate puppies that are high energy. read more
