It is…read moreFILLED to the brim with people that are the least compassionate people in health care I have ever had the absolute displeasure of encountering. My father was only there a short amount of time but I truly feared leaving him every night, wondering what I was going to come back to each morning. This place isnt a rehab, its a place that sick elderly people are sent to be ignored and die. They are just a payout! The lack of effort is crazy. The way the staff, even its' superiors, speaks to patients and their families is shocking. You would think for a place that has patients that are very ill with things such as cancer, dementia, etc. that they would be able to speak with kindness and sympathy instead of with malice. In addition to the above, there were several times we overheard nurses talking extremely unprofessional to our father. Calling him a baby and to stop complaining because he was in PAIN because he had cancer and sitting in a chair made him hurt. After the first night our father was at the facility, we came to visit the next morning only to find him, not in his room, but in a wheelchair folded over onto himself, stiff as a board from being in that position all night. We couldnt even get anyone to help us to get him back to his room and had to struggle to get him back on our own. We spoke to staff about this and told it would be handled. Next morning, same issue but this time we were told by his roommate that when our father started hollering at nighttime, which is common with dementia (sun down), that the nurses put him in a wheelchair and brought him into the hall and just left him there all night long. Once again, we confronted staff and was told it would be handled. At this point, our plan was to get our father out of there as soon as possible which we did. Another instance was I witnessed another patient vomit on himself in the hallway so I ran and got the nurses to come help. Their version of helping this gentleman, A VETERAN!, was to roll him into his room and let him sit in his vomit (later confirmed by his wife). I post this to hopefully save someone's family the heart break. If we wouldve known what we know now, he would have never went to NHC. We would have NEVER subjected our father to the mess that he had to experience in his last days on Earth.

Everyone is friendly, compassionate, and truly dedicated to making sure my mom is well cared for--both in her daily needs and her medical care. She genuinely feels like she's part of a family there, and that means the world to us. It's truly a blessing! I'd like to give a special shout‑out to a few staff members who have been especially wonderful in caring for my mom: Tim and Teresa, some of her primary nurses, and her nursing assistants, Jennilyn and Amy. I also want to recognize Jasmine, who always makes sure my mom gets out, participates in activities, and enjoys what's going on around her. And there are so many others--like Nadine, Mary, Christy, Pam, and LaToshia--who each have played a role in her care in meaningful ways. Even the food, which my mom once described as just "average," has significantly improved. She now really enjoys her meals, and that has made such a positive difference in her daily life. Thank you to everyone I've mentioned--and to those I've met but didn't list here--for everything you do. Making a decision of this magnitude is incredibly hard. But seeing how much my mom trusts this staff, and how much we trust them as well, is worth more than words can say. Thank you! Debbie

And after the tests I was taken back to the ER. Danny was taking cafe of me. He went above and beyond expectations. He got me a warm blanket. He explained the knee immobilizer on my leg with detail so I can adjust as needed. I felt very comfortable with his explanations and demonstrations. He checked on me frequently. Danny took me all the way to my car after being discharged. I was told to follow up with my orthopedic doctor and I did. Thank you very much. Great ER team. Willie Conway.

Previous to this, about 5 years ago, had a similar problem after I had moved and pulled some muscles during my lifting and unpacking. At that time, I sought help from a chiropractor who used activator treatments which helped. Desiring to find a chiropractor who used activator treatments, my family physician suggested I contact Grand Strand Health and Wellness. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised by the thoroughness of my initial appointment. I had a thorough work up with a history, x-rays, and consult prior to any treatment. My explanation consultation was complete with the diagnosis of my problem and then plan for my treatment needs. The pro-adjuster would be used, similar to what I'd had previously, called an activator, along with other types of treatment. I have had several treatment sessions, all of which have helped me greatly. I know I have more treatments to complete my plan of action, but already my activities of daily living are not cumbersome and I have relief the majority of my day. I can accomplish things without being hindered with pain. What a change in my life! I especially like the sign in process whereby I enter my status at the time of my appointment. This info goes directly to the Dr. who retrieves it before even seeing you for your appointment so he doesn't waste time asking again what area(s) are causing difficulty. My expectations have been exceeded. My previous experience with a chiropractor were good with the use of the activator, but he did not give me a thorough treatment, he only used the activator. No X-rays were taken, just use of an activator. Grand Strand is most professional and thorough in their treatments. It is a very efficiently managed office with the staff being "on time" for my appointments, cleanliness of the facility and they treat me with a personal acknowledgement of me as a person. The staff uses my name to address me, are always pleasant, take their time doing my treatment, are competent, efficient and effective. The flow of the activity in this office is smooth and relaxing even though they are a busy practice. I enjoy coming for my treatments. One of the extra special things about Grand Strand Health & Wellness is their TRIVIA media that provides education during my "wait" times to be called for treatment. I always pick up a health tip at each appointment from this media. It is interesting to look at the ceiling TV messages too during my treatments when the ceiling is my main focal point. I have recommended this practice to two people already and know that I will be continuing to do so in the future because the relief I am feeling already has been well worth the cost. I'm getting my money's worth! During the course of my treatment, I was repeatedly impressed with Dr. Salami's sincere concern about my status of how I was progressing and if I had any new problems that he should address in my treatment. He always has good advice I also know that I will need to continue follow up with maintenance appointments so that I will not have a return of discomfort/pain.

I am submitting this complaint to express concerns about the business practices of the ShockWave…read moretreatment program. During my visit, a case manager aggressively promoted a six-week treatment plan consisting of twice-weekly visits, priced at $1,800. I was told that I "owed it to myself" to enroll and that the program would make me feel at least 75% better. I was also offered a $360 discount if I signed up immediately. When I expressed concern about the cost, I was offered alternative payment options, including a 24-month zero-interest plan or weekly payments of $300 for six weeks. I brought my CT scan and X-ray reports so the provider could review them and understand the cause of my pain. The case manager stated that the reports would be reviewed later and explained that their treatment is new and effective for pain regardless of the underlying condition. In my view, this was concerning, as no effort was made during the visit to review or discuss my existing medical records before recommending treatment. Based on this experience, it appeared that the primary focus was selling an expensive treatment package rather than evaluating my specific medical condition or determining whether the treatment was appropriate for me. I am concerned that individuals experiencing significant pain may feel pressured into enrolling in costly treatment programs without adequate medical evaluation. Additionally, if this treatment is as effective as represented, it is unclear why it is not recognized or reimbursed by insurance providers. I submit this complaint so that these practices may be reviewed and others may be protected from potentially misleading or high-pressure sales tactics.

I got a faulty iPad for checkin and the receptionist forgot to take my license and insurance card. One or both caused me to lose my place in line. By the time I was called, everyone waiting when they opened including all 4 people after me AND two people who were not even in line at opening had been called. Yes there is a sign that says patience can be called out of order for visits that do not involve a doctor but at least two that came after me needed to be tested for strep & I assume that would require a doctor. We take what our patients say about us very seriously...." Yet here is his response when I tried to address a situation which occurred when, Karly a member of his staff, made an insurance error by telling me she did not have my current dental insurance policy information on file. Instead, she told me she had been processing claims on an old insurance policy the office had on record which terminated on 12/31/2022. 3 years ago! They did, in fact have my latest policy information, as the last 3 years claims went thru and paid Dr. Savage with no issues. We all know an insurance company isn't paying a dentist on any claim they may submit on a terminated policy. We also know if they didn't get paid, the dentist would have addressed the issue 3 years ago! She must have missed my current policy information somehow or read my file wrong. Instead of an apology, for her error, I got this. Mary, I had hoped we had moved on from September but insurance continues to dominate your dental care. I appreciate the kind words but these scenarios are the exact reason I have been 'out of network' with insurance for the last 13 years. To be honest dental insurance or a patients lack there of has absolutely no bearing on how I/we treat patients. If a patient is looking for the lower value care in regards to their health I gladly encourage them to seek care elsewhere as with anything it is not always a good fit. The back and forth becomes exhausting and the actual patient care becomes secondary and relationship(s) fractured. In regards to insurance we 'provide' a service to try and coordinate and explain patients individual plans but at the end of the day insurance companies do what they want. They provide less detail and make verification's for out of network offices harder because we have not contracted to their standard of care. All that being said we are not in the insurance business nor claim to be. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the care or how you were treated then in the most sincere way I think it would be best we part ways and you seek care elsewhere. I genuinely wish you the best and will make sure we forward your records per your request to the provider of your choice. DS Does this sound like a dentist who treats you well, doesn't want you to feel wrong or ashamed, and takes what you say very seriously? Is this what he means by great customer service? Dr. Savage tells you himself he is "not in the insurance business" and "If a patient is looking for the lower value care in regards to their health I gladly encourage them to seek care elsewhere as with anything it is not always a good fit." Since when did relying on insurance to keep costs down and wanting to be sure your dentist has correct policy information in their computer so you are not being over billed on your out-of-pocket costs become an indicator of wanting "lower value care?" Based upon the response which centers entirely around the insurance aspect, not his staff members error, and the fact that he asked me to seek coverage elsewhere, It appears to me that "To be honest dental insurance or a patients lack there of" actually does have "bearing on how" I/we treat patients". Keep this in mind if you ever consider seeking his services.
