We were contacted by Abban from Paws and Claws. Wishing to rectify the unfortunate experience we had with her Grooming Dept. She immediately made and with their Vet for treatment of Gizys eye lid injury. The Vet couldn't have been more kind and thorough. Abban then took Gizy to correct the shaby grooming. She then issued a refund of the overcharge for the grooming. She really stepped up to make a bad experience better. read more

Our three dogs stayed her this past week. The 15 year old Lhasa Apso loves her luxury suite, the other two stayed in the bunkhouse. The staff recognized the two who had stayed there before and were happy to meet the new puppy. When I picked them up all were happy, well cared for and exhausted after their big adventure! Our dog really enjoys it when we leave her at Paws and Claws for Boarding. Whether it's for one night or 10 she is well cared for. Our dog is excited when we pull up and greets the staff enthusiastically so I know she really likes it there. They are also good about taking reservations online and replying quickly. read more

The 'groomer' at this facility who worked on my dog is not a certified dog groomer but rather a cosmetologist. Hair stylists are not trained on 'moving targets' nor are they familiar with cuts for specific breeds. She 'shaved' my Silky Terrier's nose. Second, the use of Dawn dish soap, even when diluted is not suggested. It removes all the natural, good oils from the dogs' skin and can cause serious damage if it gets into the eye. Lastly, I asked to view the video of the area on the day in question and was told nothing happened and they wouldn't share the video with me. It took two visits to the vet, three medications and three weeks for my dog's eye to heal. The owners did refund me the grooming fee and the cost for veterinary care but I will never return to this facility for any services. read more

Took our dog in for a short vacation. Asked for an exit bath and a schnauzer cut. They said they knew how to do it. We picked her up and didn't realize they had cut a chunk out of her ear. We noticed it when we got home. They said nothing to us when we arrived to get her. The dried blood was evident. We really wanted this to be a good place for her. Guess it's the worst place for a vacation and a hair cut. Please don't get your dog groomed here! If I could give -0- stars I would. read more

So, my husband and I brought our 10 month old kitten here for a short stay. When we arrive they staff looked confused as to why we had questions in regards to how it was ran. Then they took her from us and we never got to say goodbye and acted like we were weird because we brought her own special cat food and litter. They said they would have a live feed so we could check on her and that was not the case. Needless to say we will never trust them with our cat again! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I am extremely disappointed with the service that I have received. As soon as we walked into the "resort" the front lobby was empty where we waited about 15 min for someone to come up and when they did they did not greet us nor did they seem happy/ enthusiastic about myself or my pups being there. when I picked up my dogs I noticed right away that they didn't look the best, but the hair on the smallest look absolutely terrible. her face is so long it looks like she has a mustache and is longer on one side than it is the other, she has a piece of hair that sticks out over her eye, the hair on her ears are very choppy (even though I asked not to cut their ears) , and her body looks very uneven. Not to mention they charge an arm and a leg for not even decent service. I would NOT recommend this place. read more

I have used Paws and Claws numerous times when we travel out of town. We took our 4 dogs there last week. They boarded for 8 nights in two separate kennels. We picked them up on Saturday morning. By Sunday evening two of the dogs were coughing and sneezing. By Monday night all 4 dogs were coughing and sick. The veterinarian prescribed antibiotics. I called Paws and Claws to let them know our dogs caught something and were all sick now. They told me that they do not have any sick dogs. They were not concerned. I mentioned that I paid $750 dollars to board them for a week and now they were all sick and on meds. They were still not concerned. I suggested that they needed to sanitize the kennels to prevent other dogs from getting sick. Apparently they sanitize the kennels. I am very disappointed. All of my dogs were vaccinated prior to their visit. None of the dogs went anywhere after they left the kennel. They had two separate kennels that were away from each other. So it leads me to believe there a a lot of sick animals there. If you want to be a "resort", you should make all the dogs get their vaccinations and sanitize the kennels after each dog leaves. I want to pick up healthy dogs. read more

Do not go to this groomer unless they actually have a groomer. It is a nice facility the people are nice however the ones that are doing the grooming now do not know what they're doing. My dogs faces weren't cleaned up their bellies weren't cleaned up their ears are not cleaned up only partially and their paws have a lot of hair in them. I paid $110 for two Havanese. One looks fairly decent the other one doesn't look good at all. I sent them back to have their bellies shaved and nothing changed from when I sent them back. Plus I took them there at nine in the morning and they called me at 12 to say the groomer did not Showed up. Because I requested a bath they did do a good job on that. read more

My dog Oscar visited the Paws and Claws "resort" over the Thanksgiving holiday, and I thought that for $20 it was a good deal. I toured the facility and found it clean and spacious. The dogs' food and accoutrements were well labeled and organized, so if your pet has special instructions, I think they would handle that effectively. The dogs are kept separated at all times, but they are given outdoor breaks frequently. If you want to pay an extra $5, the staff will walk or play with your dog. While anxious to go home, Oscar seemed pretty content when I picked him up, and he hasn't shown any sign of being hoarse or sick to his stomach (which has happened when he's gone to daycare). So I think they took good care of him. Additionally, a particularly helpful feature of Paws anc Claws is the weekend hours. You can actually pick your dog up on Sunday, unlike most kennels I've tried in Austin. This saves money and makes it easier to plan your schedule. I'd definitely use this place again. read more

Was visiting in Fredericksburg for the month of April 2015. Took my 2 Maltese to Paws and Claws for grooming on Aoril 29. Was greeted by Vicky and then was introduced to the groomer Ehlena. After speaking with Ehlena about a summer cut for the dogs, I left. When I returned to pick up the dogs, it became obvious that Ehlena is not an experienced groomer. My Teacup Maltese, Diva, was shaved to the skin. She doesn't have an undercoat and needs to have at least 3/4" in length of fur or she stays cold. Since Diva was shaking I put a dress on her when we arrived at the hotel. For the next week, she didn't want to go for walks and would shake while she sat in my lap. When I removed the dress 10 days after grooming, I found a penny sized scab under Diva's front leg where the clippers had gouged the skin. I was sick to see this. I called Paws and Claws the next day to discuss the situation with them. Vicky apologized for the mishap and assured me Ehlena would call the following day. A week has passed with no return call. Today I received an appreciation postcard from Paws and Claws. Priceless! I won't be a repeat customer. read more

Have used them for boarding and grooming around two dozen times in the past six years. Normally my dogs have had a good experience and I have paid extra to give them walks and play time during their stay. However, the last three times we have been in the past six months have reaffirmed that something has changed with the business and we won't be back. The smell inside is awful - I understand that animals are staying there but there are ways to keep the front office from smelling like a filthy outhouse. Of the six times we have walked in the door, only one time were we actually greeted. The front desk staff has zero customer service training and were rude and short with us during drop offs and pick ups. This final visit we asked for them to be groomed. They asked if we wanted the dogs shaved and we specifically said no - only feathers trimmed. When we picked them up they were shaved. When I complained I was told that the groomer thought they looked weird with just the feathers trimmed so she cut them shorter. They are cavaliers - they are supposed to have long hair. We were offered a free bath next time after a $400 visit this time. Very disappointed with how they are run now. read more

I took my white poodle to Paws and Claws yesterday for grooming. She'd had an accident where the skin had been scraped skin off her back. It was not something that could be closed w/stitches so it took a while to heal with topical meds. It was a mess I admit but I explained it to the groomer but it had healed and she could be groomed again. Although I did not see any fleas because she had been treated with frontline the week before, I was told she was covered in fleas. By the time I left with her that afternoon I had been lectured 3 times by 2 people, told not to bring her back and charged almost 3X the usual rate. Although there had been little things over the years and some minor injuries Paws and Claws was the only game in town. I will be taking my business to a town nearby. read more

This place looks more like a county animal shelter than a "pet resort". We took one look around and decided our dog would be better off in our B&B room than here. Also, some of these dogs kennel cells were open to the air--32 degree, freezing air. Awful. Stay away. read more

Our experiences in the past had been good. However, we left our two dogs there for two weeks. When we picked them up two weeks later we found both very emaciated, due to inadequate feeding and/or dehydration. The older dog had a fever when we picked them up that evening. We took them to our vet the next morning and the older dog had an infection and both had lost significant body weight. We have later learned that the owner, a local veterinarian, is willing to hire only three people to staff the facility and pays minimum wage. We will not leave our dogs in their care again and suggest that, if you have an animal that you love, you will not trust their care to this facility! read more

I took my havanese there for grooming. When I returned my dog had been shaved. I had asked them not to shave her, just to clip mats near her neck caused by her collar. (I had brushed her and removed all other mats prior to taking her. Havanese need their fur--they have hair not fur and do not tolerate the cold. One is not to even cut them too short even in summer. They then charged me $70 for bathing and nail clipping. Outrageous! read more
