I wasn't called and offered the option of them giving her a bath, which is a service they do there. Was offer this service for "next time". I have been bringing my dog for over a year and a half to Uberdog. I have left him for up to two weeks at a time and I have taken him to day care sometimes five days a week if my work schedule becomes overwhelming. I am shocked to see any type of negative review on this facility.. although I know that the staff and owner will not be able to say it - I can & will say that it seems like if you read the one star reviews people are quite literally forgetting that they're speaking on dogs... dogs that are playing & jumping around and running and probably getting a lot more exercise and they do on a daily basis at home... this can undoubtably lead to strain on your animal paired with the fact they are away from you and can show signs of fatigue that may lead you to believe that they are "hurt" when really they're just out of their element. If you've ever taken a look inside a dog daycare facility you will see dogs ranging from 25lbs or smaller up to probably 80? 90 lbs? Accidents can happen in these types of environments just like a dog park. Accidents or just regular wear&tear. A bloody paw? That can happen from walking your dog... To go out of your way and say that they don't care if your animal is hurt is wild. I know from experience they have a strict policy to remove any animal that is acting even slightly upset or hurt and monitor them in their extensive available private kennels. I personally can admit my dog is a handful. He snaps at new workers, escapes... whines... is a hassle & can be super irritating and the staff has never once treated him like an inconvenience. Each and every staff member treats me and my dog like family, catering to requests & special feeding routines and even going as far to make food for my dog if he ran out when I was on vacation. The staff has gone out of their way to contact me when I'm on vacation and update me on my dog. Always keep in mind that your dog is not the only animal there and just like a preschool or camp there is a ratio of staff. Vs. kids. Accidents can happen of course but in my experience the staff & owner has been nothing but helpful and loving. I would definitely recommend Uberdog and will be using them permanently. read more

sorry to let you guys know this place sucks upon picking up my dog. It was very dirty and stinky and there was sticky stuff old garbage was spilling out of the garbage pail. on the floor when I check in the window to see how well my dog plays with other dogs, I see rusted on the fences there's pee and poop in the corners not cleaned up there is no obstacles for my dog to play. My dog is in the corner cause it looks like the other dogs have been picking on him, and when I asked why is my dog in the corner they have no answer. Second time trying it my dog was hurt and injured. I was called in the middle of work to come pick my dog up with no explanation on why my dogs hind leg was bleeding. upon talking to the assistant manager, she directed me to the general manager and speaking to him. He had no recollection on what was going on. He had no clear answer for me. that happened after I left my dog for four days boarding. I was handed back all his lunches that were made for him. This is such a fun place for dogs to stay when their owners are away from home. Compared to other boarding kennels, this one is amazing in terms of cleanliness. And I like the free poop bags :) Atmosphere: the place is so chic. I love the waiting area. The dogs are allowed to run wild and play with one another. Dogs regardless of size are allowed to socialize with one another. When I looked through the glass to view all the dogs each one looked so happy. It's like dropping your kids of at Doggy Summer Camp. When you pick up your dog they return home and sleep for days because they're exhausted from way too much running around. Biilie Joe slept for days after we picked him up. He's such a big dog but he plays just like the other little boys that stay at Uberdog. Staff: the staff are friendly and from the interaction you have with the staff you know they enjoy their job. And when I asked if I can take pics they told me I could snap as many as I wanted. Their openness to being photograph on an off that suggests that they proud of the facility and that this place always looks the same regardless of who is visit. :) Price: the cost for the stay is on the pricey side. I would have to say it's equivalent to paying for a hotel room. The down side is you get charged for the full day regardless of when you drop off your dog. It will run you $40 -$50 per night. I've also tried their boarding services twice, once for a weekend and the other time for a whole week. Both times he seemed super happy and did not want to leave. NEVER AGAIN. Who is giving this place 4 stars?? I relied on yelp to find a place to board our Wheaten for the week. Uberdog had the most reviews so I ignored the few bad reviews from others who boarded their dog and decided to use them. Huge mistake. Red flag #1: They will not let you in to view the play area or boarding area due to ''liability reasons''. The new place I use (that is infinitely better than here) gave me a full tour of their facilities because they had nothing to hide. At Uberdog I had no idea where our dog would be sleeping or playing. The website says''Of Course! All of our exciting play areas are easily visible"! This is 100% false. The small dog play area is not visible at all and you will have no idea where your dog will be sleeping either. At this point, I should have taken my dog and run out the door. Red flag #2: The week's worth of food I packed for my dog was returned to me with barely any of it gone. This made me wonder- were they feeding my dog?? Was he left in his crate forgotten? If they fed him, WHAT WERE THEY FEEDING HIM!?!?!? Uberdog could not even be trusted to properly feed my dog with the food they asked me to provide, and it still angers me to think about whether my dog was left half starving the entire week. Red flag #3: My dog was returned filthy and wet with urine. My dog does not pee on himself, nor does he like rolling around in wet puddles. Therefore, is the inside play area just not cleaned and is there pee everywhere? (is this why they don't allow people to see it?) Or was he seriously just forgotten in his crate so he had no choice but to pee in his crate? Red flag #4: For weeks after his Uberdog stay, our dog would not leave our side. He whimpered at night and would not sleep by himself anymore. He was the happiest, friendliest dog before we boarded him and only now are the negative effects of having spent a week at Uberdog starting to finally go away. I felt so guilty after I used Uberdog instead of doing more research when I saw what had happened to our sweet dog. If you want a good, trustworthy place to board your dog please avoid this place! (p.s. We found a new boarding place in West Hartford that is so much better than here. Our new place gave us a full tour, fed our dog the food we provided them, returned our dog to us dry (even misting him with a nice smelling spray), and our dog kept trying to get back inside to play some more when we picked him up. Therefore, there are great options in the neighborhood, Uberdog is just not one of them). --- In response to Uberdog's reply: Daniel, when you speak with your staff, could you also speak with yourself? You had told us to email you if we wanted an update since it was our dog's first stay, and that all emails went directly to your personal inbox. We took your suggestion and emailed you. Then, we got no response, for the entire week. We tried calling your business and no matter what time of day we called the phone rang 5 times and then went to voicemail. It looks like the only way to get a timely response is to leave a negative yelp review. I'm glad we agree that your website advertising is not true. I still see that it says that all play areas are visible. A staff member told us you have a lawsuit with the landlord about the new space and so the small dogs haven't been moved to this new play area you speak of. Maybe you can change the language on your website to say: "Can I see the facility that my dog will be playing in? Of course! All of our exciting play areas are easily visible from one of our huge viewing windows IF YOU HAVE A BIG DOG, BUT NONE OF OUR EXCITING PLAY AREAS FOR SMALL DOGS ARE VISIBLE. NOT AT ALL. AND IF YOU ASK TO SEE OUR KENNELS WE WILL TELL YOU THAT ALSO CANNOT BE SHOWN DUE TO LIABILITY REASONS AND YOU CAN ONLY SEE THE LOBBY. SORRY!" I think this would make your website less misleading. Since liability is a big concern for you, the amazing daycare center we now use told us that our dog was missing one of his shots to play there. We immediately took him to the vet to get this shot. It looks like Uberdog requires this shot too, but no one checked our dog's records to make sure this was the case. So you may have dogs without all their vaccines playing in all of your exciting play areas right now. I have been bringing Kai, my German Shepherd Dog, one or two times a week, since he was a puppy. To this day, he is just as excited to arrive there, as he was 5 years ago. I know this because he sings the "Uber Song" when we turn onto Talcott. This is a song of excitement and joy that he saves for only the most special of occasions. When we pull into the parking lot Kai cannot get out of the car fast enough. He greats all his "Uber Peeps" with cuddles and kisses. This is the only time he leaves my side without looking back. He also has to say a personal goodbye to each of the staff, when I pick him up at the end of the day. Uber Dog is clean and accommodating to both dogs and people alike. The staff is attentive and knows each dog personally. They Love the dogs in their care and it shows. I could not and would not leave Kai unless I knew he was 100% safe, happy and well cared for. read more

Uberdog is a sparkling clean gem set in the middle of an industrial warehouse park. On my first visit, I was intimidated to think of entrusting my dog to anyone who operates from behind a Fastenal shop (no offense, Fastenal). However, walking in the door completely changed my opinion. Gleaming hardwood floors, couches, and even a refreshment station are provided! The owner is friendly and passionate about his mission, and always has a funny story or comment about how my dog behaved during her visit. A large window allows any nervous owners to view their dogs as they play, which was very reassuring. Although the employees appear to be high-school aged, they always remember my dog by name when I come to pick her up, and there is at least one person in the play area with the dogs at all times. My puppy is tiny (7 pounds) so I was very nervous about the potential for injuries, but she comes home happy, tired, and a little smelly at the end of each visit. I give Uberdog four stars for two reasons: first, the location is less than reassuring for first-time visitors. Second, the webcams that are advertised have not yet been reinstalled after some painting that was done in the play area. The owner expressed hesitation about reinstalling these cameras due to the number of calls he would receive from owners who couldn't see their dog, didn't want their dog climbing on the playscape, etc. This is understandable (dogs must be dogs at some point) but I would still like to be able to take the occasional peek via webcam. My experience at Uberdog was very disappointing. As a result I am writing this review toI strongly recommend you find another daycare for your dog. The level of care provided by Uberdog to my dog and I was pathetic. I believe my dog was likely neglected while at Uberdog, like my attempts for an update on how my dog was doing. I called during business hours for days and could not reach anyone which was incredibly troubling. I even emailed them but got no response; I found out later that all emails go directly to Dan. So, if the owner is unwilling to respond or provide an update when requested, who will? I spoke with Dan and he told me that there were mistakes made and offered his apology. I appreciated his apology but believe this was provided in a feeble attempt to "brush the real issues under the rug". Ultimately, I believe they were very willing to take my money but not provide an adequate level of care for my dog. There is absolutely no reason for my dog to be returned to me smelling like pee and poo; his food that I provided to be unused; them to ask me to fill out what times he gets fed only to find out later there was no way they followed this schedule since they feed all dogs at the same time; and for my dog to literally be scared to go back there. Note that others have had similar sad and disappointing experiences like mine. I would not have written this review unless I firmly believed that my dog was not properly treated during his time at Uberdog and would once again, strongly recommend you find another place to care for your dog. read more

I should have posted a review several years ago when an incident occurred with my dogs, but we were new to the area and had so much going on at the time, so I never did. However, a I feel a sense of obligation to do so now. I was taking our two greyhounds here for a half-day of daycare once a week. One day I go to pick them up and our female had an open lesion that required costly veterinary care. Evidently the staff knew which dog attacked her, and I asked Dan to see if the dog's owner would pick up at least some of the cost. She refused. I called to schedule an evaluation for my dog, and at no point did they ask what breed he is (and for the record, he is an American Bulldog, per a DNA test). When I brought him in and handed over his vaccination records from he shelter he was rescued from, the guy at the desk said they were unable to take my dog because his paperwork said he is a pit bull. First, they should have asked ahead of time so as not to waste my time, but secondly, any savvy dog person knows that breed labels from shelters are almost never accurate - they take one look at a dog and slap a label without any DNA testing. For pit bulls, this is sometimes a life or death label (pitties account for the highest number of euthanasias for space at shelters by far). I won't go into detail about breed specific injustices other than to say that every single dog is an individual and should be assessed as such. In any event, I told the guy that my dog was mislabeled at the shelter and is actually proven via a DNA test to be an American bulldog, to which he replied that their insurance won't allow my dog because of the labeling on his shelter paperwork. Meanwhile, my dog was sitting perfectly calmly and wagging his tail with no idea whatsoever why he wasn't able to join the discriminatory Uberdog club. I ended up bringing him to another daycare (Wagging Tails), where he passed his assessment with flying colors. I am sending several of my dogs to Wagging Tails now, a dog daycare that doesn't discriminate based on appearance. UPDATE: Thank you, Daniel for another display (re: your response to my review - why get so defensive if you simply stand by your policy?) of how your company just isn't a positive/fair spirited one, and certainly not one I feel deserves a good review (looks like I'm not the only one star reviewer). I did, in fact, speak to a woman - your employee - over the phone and told her my dog's ACTUAL breed (again, DNA test), and she literally said "omg! I love American bulldogs". But when I went in, at no point did the person at the desk ask to see the scientific results, they just dismissed me and my sweet dog immediately. You, Daniel, are complicit in breed discrimination - of which the consequences severe for dogs who suffer from mislabeling. My mom was one of the first customers when Uberdog opened and recommended it to me when I was looking for a dog daycare, and I'm glad she did. My dog had issues with her stomach in the past and when she's gotten sick there, they have immediately called me to let me know what's going on and have taken care of her to make sure she was feeling better. Or any time that anything has been even remotely questionable about her behavior (for example, one time she seemed disoriented and began walking funny), they have called me to let me know. Dan and his staff care about the dogs that come in, and I've always felt comfortable and confident leaving my dog at Uberdog, even for overnight stays. And when I found out I was moving across country and asked if I could transfer remaining package days to a family member, Dan and his staff let me do this, no questions asked. Prices are reasonable and consistent with similar businesses, and even if they weren't, I can honestly say that it is worth every single penny. Especially in the winter, when my dog couldn't get her daily exercise due to the cold and snow, I found that taking her to Uberdog even once a week (and supplementing it with taking her to the dog park on the weekends) kept her happy and kept me happy too. I can not say enough good things about uberdog. We started taking our puppy there a few weeks ago. In the few weeks she's been there she has turned into a whole new dog! Before when we would get home from work she would be full energy and running around like crazy. Now she spends her days running around at uber. My wife and I have been sending our dog to Uberdog for over a year (both daycare and boarding). Dan and his staff are absolutely amazing. They knew our dog by name after the first few weeks and have treated her like she was their own every since. Our dog is always excited to go in for daycare and is always brought back with a staff member that is equally excited to see her. They have even gone the extra mile during two different stays while boarding. Our dog has a lot of anxiety and during her second extended stay, she had an accident. They cleaned her and one of the staff members took her blanket home to wash and brought it back clean for her. The second was after a mistake I made - miscalculated my dogs food by one day. I have to give Dan and his staff 5 stars!! My dog Mambo has been coming here since he was 6 months olds and loves it. They always know me and my dog and greet us regularly. They make sure he has his flu shot so he doesn't get sick or catch anything. He does come back smelly, but it's a small price to pay for how happy he is after he comes there. I have also boarded my dog here several times and have no problems. Dan has always called me back when I called to check on my Mambo. He is also a small dog and I've seen where they keep him and he's perfectly well taken care of. If you want a personal experience without having a stranger in your home then this is the place. I highly recommend the staff here and your dog is in great care. I think that it's hard to leave your dog anytime you go away, but the staff here at UberDog treats your dog like it was their own. read more

I love uberdog!! The staff is SO friendly and pay attention to each dog with lots of love and care. When my pup was having a small health issue but I didn't want to leave her home alone, they let her stay in a boarding kennel for the day, gave her lots of love, and reported back to me lots of important info. Now she goes for "playcare" a few times a week and loves it. On my first day, I was given a great tour, explanation of all services, and even a note home to tell me how my pup did on her first day. The facility is impeccable, which is no easy feat when you have dozens of dogs coming in and out daily! I definitely recommend Uberdog if you have a pup that needs some extra playtime. love it. my newly acquired pup has had two stays here and has done extremely well both times, coming home quite tuckered out from all his play time. i have to say i was impressed by the staff. they were very patient with me and all my questions the first time. you can tell they are all dog lovers, and very attentive. my guy's about 60 pounds and, understandably, the dogs are separated according to size to ensure that none are intimidated or out of their league. well, my rescue was used to hanging out with smaller pups, so, when they noticed his discomfort around the big guys, they switched him to a smaller group. he did much better. everything you bring to make them used to the environment (bedding, treats, food, etc.) is returned to you labeled with your pup's name. I'm sure for them that's a very practical move, but i think it shows great attention to detail, and reinforces my trust in their operation. rates are affordable, the facility is clean, and the staff is awesome. the only difficulty is finding the place; it's in a teeny industrial park, tucked away from the road. but, once you've found it the first time, you're good to go for every return visit. and return, you will. *** for those with pit bulls: I'm sorry. they're a great breed, but as a business- a functioning, needing-to-profit-at-least-somewhat business- uberdog has clearly needed to make a decision regarding their insurance. I can't believe I am the first reviewer. This place is like dog heaven. My little guy, Dasher, a 2 year old Boston Terrier loves this place. The staff is really great. The place is clean and they let your dog play the entire time unlike other places. I've even used them overnight. My owner concern is that sometimes the dog to staff ratio is on the high side. Also, they separate the little dogs and big dogs which is great. Except the little dog area has no direct access outside. They do switch the two groups up to allow the little dogs tot go outside during the day. Again, the people are great and I know they take good care of my little guy while there. read more

You think people in the "dog business" would be educated enough to actually KNOW dogs. These people are extremely ignorant and discriminate towards certain breeds. While setting up an assessment appointment I could not confirm if my dog was a "full blown" pitbull because I rescued her. She actually looks like a lab. All of my vet papers say pitbull mix, but because the word pitbull is in there, Uberdog said that there was no way they could take my dog. So much for that assessment huh. My dog is medium sized, weighs 40lbs, calm, professionally trained, and lives with 2 other different smaller breed dogs and 1 cat. The only reason I searched this place was because I belong to the bootcamp gym right across the parking lot. It would have been convenient to drop off my dogs before work and pick them up after the gym each day during the week. However, they did end up recommending me to another place in the West Hartford. Probably the the smartest thing they said to me that day. Uberdog is fantastic! I have a super high energy pup, so being able to drop him off here all day is wonderful. He's exhausted afterwards, which allows me to actually get work done in the evenings! They also really care about their customers. My dog lost a kong there one time while boarding overnight, and the owner replaced it with a new one immediately. He also had a collar break as a result of some wrestling, and the owner gave me a check for his new collar. I love Uberdog and wouldn't go anywhere else. I trust them with both playcare for a day and for overnight boarding. My rescue dog was extreeemely nervous and skittish when I got her, so I was nervous to see how she would do with other dogs. She was a bit of a wallflower the first couple times, as it takes her some time to build trust and feel comfortable. But before I knew it, my dog, who was still scared and running away from friends and visitors at home was so excited to go to Uberdog that she would RUN right in. She'd jump out the window once we parked if she could! She is so much better socialized and has completely come out of her shell. She loves the staff and they are great with her. This place is great! My Corgi and GSD come home exhausted each time I take them. I use Uberdog mostly for weekends and long stays now that my dogs have aged and mellowed. I am surprised each time when the staff remembers our dogs. Everyone that works there appears to genuinely love their jobs. I always leave my dogs knowing they are in great hands. read more

Our dog has been in both for playcare and for extended boarding, both of which have gone very well. We have a bulldog who requires a couple of extra steps to keep his wrinkly face neat and clean, and the staff has always done their best to be attentive to these fussy needs. A great sign: when we walk in the door, he races off to greet the friendly staff and they welcome him by name. We've never had a problem getting him a spot overnight, even last minute, and they have even stayed a little longer for a delayed pick up time. Very flexible and accommodating. read more

i love Uberdog. I have had two dogs experience Uberdog and both experiences were great. Dan is wonderful, clearly loves his business, is willing to talk and knows his stuff. The staff is always friendly and good with the dogs. They do a nice job of keeping the dogs with appropriate groups during play: puppies with puppies, rough and tumble big guys with dogs their similar style. The great thing is when they board over night they get a full day of doggie play time. By the time they go into their accommodations for the night they are pooped! You don't have to worry about them being stressed out. And when they come home they are just as pooped. Can't recommend them enough. Uberdog has been great for our dogs. I feel good about having them there when we can't take our dog along. read more

Uberdog is a clean, well maintained facility. The staff is friendly and obviously love dogs! Our dog has been to playcare many, many times and we had the opportunity to try their overnight services a few months back. They are careful about accpeting aggressive dogs and will work with your pet if they are timid. I highly recommend them and find their fees to be very reasonable. read more

Love it here! We have been using Uberdog since it opened. Our bulldog usually doesn't like going places, so we love how excited she gets when we pull into the parking lot! Dan and the staff are always so friendly and greet our dog by name! It's hard for us to leave our dog for over a week when we go on vacation. Knowing that she has a good time makes us feel much better- She gets to go outside an lay under umbrellas or splash in a dog pool- It's a vacation for her too. Since she is a bulldog they recognize that she needs more rest and actually pull her out so she can get an extra nap in throughout the day- It's nice to see how much they care about each individual dog Our kids love going to watch all the dogs play behind the glass window when we drop our dog off and pick her up. I am so comfortable with Uberdog- Best experience out of all the dog day care centers we have tried in CT! Highly recommend!!!! read more

After a one day trial visit at doggy daycare, I boarded my beloved registered therapy dog at Uber Dog for 5 days while I was on vacation. After finding out that my usual spot was booked, I sought out recommendations from friends and Uber Dog seemed like the best choice. I returned from vacation late Sunday night and I picked my dog up on Monday morning as soon as Uber Dog opened. When I lifted my dog up into the car to go home, I noticed that he was wet. As we began to drive, I noticed that he smelled of urine. Upon arriving home I realized that my dog, and all of his belongings including the tote bag which contained his food container were all soaked to the point of dripping with urine. As the day went on, my dog became violently sick to his stomach and for the first time in the 5+ years I've had him, he began to refuse his food. This was back in August of 2013. It is now February of 2014 and after 6 scary months and over $3,500 in vet bills, my dog is finally on the mend. I don't know what happened when I left him at Uber or why he got so sick but I am finally feeling emotionally capable of sharing our story and writing this review now that I know my pup is going to pull through. I have told everyone I know about this experience and my dog's vet has shared the experience as well as the doctors in the practice all have their suspicions. But in the end I only know three things 1) my dog and everything he came with were returned to me dripping in urine, 2) despite sending my dog with detailed instructions and two extra days of food just in case, his food container was returned to me empty, and 3) I will never return to Uber Dog. Six months later my dog is finally healthy enough to return to volunteering with me as a registered therapy team and writing this review was the last step in putting this experience behind us. read more
