Our puppy Junie was extremely reactive to other dogs and we felt like she would never get better. We enrolled her in the puppy elementary classes at about 5 months old. Kim and Jamaal were extremely accommodating and helpful throughout all of her behaviors, week after week. After she finished the group classes we did 2 private lessons with Kim and Jamaal and I can't say enough great things about the two of them. Junie is such a different dog from the day we started with Sol Dog and we couldn't be more grateful for Kim and Jamaal. I can't recommend Sol Dog Lodge enough!

I have a 3 year old rescue poodle mix with a history of separation anxiety and inability to tolerate being crated. When I first got him 2 years ago he hurt himself pretty bad trying to get out of a crate. I explained this to Erin twice - when I went for the tour and 10 days later when I called to make the reservation. On the tour Erin showed me the standard "suite" which is a long hallway with animal shelter-type chain link kennel and the "deluxe" suite which is a single block wall room with walled outdoor run. I told Erin he would need a "deluxe" suite and lots of human and dog play time due to his separation anxiety disorder. This place does NOT require a meet and greet with your dog. I left my dog at 4:15 pm on Thursday 2/9 and again asked for as much dog and human play time as possible. I did not have to sign anything or leave a credit card. The next morning, Erin called me to let me know that Max had a little scrape on his nose and that they didn't want me to be surprised by the injury at pickup. I asked her what happened and she said there had been a big wind storm during the night and that the morning feeder person found him bloody - he had been trying to get out under the steel door. That's when I first realized THERE'S NO ONE THERE AT NIGHT. When I picked him he could hardly walk. The bridge of his nose was badly scraped. His chin, lips and gums were badly injured. His toe pads on his two front feet were shredded - he was limping from the pain. He looked like he had been beaten down. I asked Erin why she didn't tell me there's NO night staff and she said "You didn't ask." AYFKM?? There is NOTHING on their website indicating they have no one there overnight. For my dog this was no "vacation," not a "resort," and he was not treated like "family" despite what their website says. And the vet bill was twice what the boarding fee would have been - at least. And FWIW my daughter's lab won't be back - my daughter was also shocked to hear there's NO ONE THERE AT NIGHT!!!

Looks like a chew toy totally chewed up. Not my pups toy. No concern for my pup to be choking on any of it. Made me wonder just how they really treated him. When we picked up our lab, the reception was about the same. Pay now, here's your dog. No conversation about how my pup did during his stay. Nothing! It was like I picked up a "stuffed animal"! Besides being very happy to see us, my pup was very thirsty when we got in the truck. Never saw him drink that much water in one sitting. I blame myself for not researching more. This place is a business and not a caring one. This was our first boarding experience. Now I know what to look for when choosing another boarding place. This one will not be on the list This place might be fine for daily boarding...but not overnight or long term, in my opinion. Also, the older receptionist needs some training on customer service. We weren't sure what to expect, as we are new to dog training. We scheduled an initial appointment for private in-home training that was $150 and was listed to be up to an hour and a half. Following the payment, we received an email with the trainer's availability and requested a time within it. We then had to go back and forth to find a time that worked for the trainer. It would have been much more helpful to just receive a list of dates/times that were still available instead of just a general schedule for booking. Again, we weren't sure what to expect but got up bright and early for an 8:00am session in our home the morning after Thanksgiving. The trainer was 8 minutes late. I know that isn't a huge amount of time, but it was our first meeting and we were ready on time and waiting. We received some helpful tips on how to start working on the main concerns we had with our dog, but felt like we didn't receive clear instruction on what to do if the dog didn't do the command, etc. We contemplated booking more sessions, but ultimately decided against it for the amount of money we paid vs the information we received. Maybe dog training just isn't for us. Maybe we just didn't mesh with the trainer. This was our experience.

We had to be away for a full week and had to scramble to find boarding for our 18lb Russian Blue Kitty. We wanted something more than just chain-store pet hoteling and luckily, a friend (with very pampered doggies) recommended Kennel Nirvana for our cat, since they have a separate residence for the kitties. We made the appointment to view the space in the days prior, and were so pleased with the cleanliness and warmth of the kitty space. Our boy is a tree climber and the Kennel Nirvana cubbies did not disappoint. He had three levels to play around in, and ended up spending most in the top near the ceiling! He certainly didn't lose any weight while there either, though he got lots of exercise, so mealtimes are well managed, too. Natalie and Glenn were gracious about our calling in to check on our boy every couple days and we are so grateful for the exceptional care they took with him. Natalie and Glenn are wonderful caretakers and Kennel Nirvana is a treasure find! It's a beautiful place with lovely folks (the owners AND the daytime assistants) who obviously care deeply about the furry family members left in their care.
