The reports I receive after each visit put my mind at ease, particularly since one of my kitties is wary of people she doesn't (and, at times, does) know. I also enjoy the photos. The app that APC uses is a user-friendly interface that allows you to handle virtually all business with APC, and the team sends reminders to confirm the scheduled visits a couple or more days prior. As others have commented, make no mistake about it: the services cost and sometimes, the sticker shock gets me, particularly considering the circumstances for the visit. There is a weekend charge, per day, per pet, and a holiday fee, per day, per pet whenever there is a holiday or it's APC's dedicated holiday season. While I expect to pay to have someone briefly interrupt their own holiday plans to handle the things with my kitties that I cannot, boy oh boy does it add up and quickly. A loyal customer discount or customer appreciation savings here and there would definitely be welcomed! That said, I know I can leave my pets in good, competent hands and that my home is secured, as well. They will tend to plants and pick up the mail, if you ask, and they do leave things orderly. I love the notes, the pictures, and the care they show my pets. I know they have been kind to my pets and that's the most important thing to me. I definitely recommend and will use again.

Nearly a year after an incident involving our friends' beloved dog, they were unexpectedly contacted by an Alexandria detective. We later learned that an anonymous former employee had come forward with video evidence showing troubling handling of dogs at this facility. According to publicly reported information from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and multiple news outlets, the whistleblower's report triggered a full investigation, a search warrant, and the seizure of hundreds of hours of surveillance footage. Those reports state that a groomer at this facility, Kevin Sanders, was charged, and later pleaded guilty with zero remorse, to multiple counts related to animal cruelty, including charges connected to the death of a dog in his care. Authorities have also stated that video evidence showed additional incidents involving other dogs. Without the courage of the employee who came forward, none of this would have been known. What concerns me just as much is how the business handled these issues. Based on what was shared with us and what has been publicly reported, management did not take meaningful action until law enforcement became involved. The owner, Paul Haire, has repeatedly dismissed concerns rather than acknowledging the seriousness of what occurred under his roof. As a pet owner, the lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable. Pets are family members. They cannot speak for themselves, and we rely on grooming and boarding facilities to treat them with care and respect. After learning what happened here, and how long it went unaddressed, I cannot in good conscience recommend this business to anyone.

Her trainer tells me that she is very stubborn with extremely high energy. She is also rebellious and constantly pushing boundaries to see what she can get away with. And I adore her. Sansa was badly injured by her first groomer at age 14 weeks, and had to have emergency surgery, plus 6 weeks of heavy sedation so she could recover. As a result she is now anxious all the time. She is jumpy and scared and ready to bite the hand that wants to leash her-mine! I had left her with a dog sitter for a weekend in September and then reserved the same sitter for the first week of November. I think that the sitter was too polite to tell me that she didn't want to deal with my Cujo-style dog. She called about 12 hours before she was supposed to show up and backed out. I am glad she did because that lead me to Elodie and Moe-"Leila Knows Best", who are THE PERFECT dog sitters. They treated Sansa like she was their own. I know how disruptive she can be, yet they never complained. She was genuinely happy there. I had to extend my trip by two nights and they accommodated her without fussing, hemming or hawing. I received several updates for the 8 days that I was away. They took her to the waterfront to play, for several walks a day and even pulled out a crate for her to sleep in because that's what she is trained to do. I didn't have to lug her crate over. Their place is spotless. They have a beautiful pooch called Leila who seems calm and well trained. Sansa clearly enjoyed her stay with aunty Elodie and Uncle Moe! To Elodie and Moe-I cannot thank you enough! I hope you'll agree to take her again. (Not soon because as Moe said-she is a dog and a half). Lol She is in puppy kindergarten now and should be much easier next time!! If you want someone you can trust with your canine baby, look no further. .

The Board Hound has been an amazing resource for me and my pup Finn. Finn is 2 years old and has…read moreextreme separation anxiety and is sensitive to...well just about everything. The Board Hound was recommended by the Animal Behavior Wellness Center (Fairfax) early in our journey. Everyday they balance group play with enrichment and learning (brain games). For example, last week they introduced Finn to bubbles and although he was tentative at first, with gentle encouragement he ended up loving the bubbles (the pics of his bubble exploration are in the attached report card)! This is just one example - they've not only reinforced my training but advanced Finn's training when it comes to reactivity (their training the "wait" command has been a godsend). The Board Hound's curriculum (my word) includes personalized care based on Finn's need, their recommendations are always given from their expertise and in the best interest of Finn. If Finn wants to be on the floor playing, in the suite resting, or needs one-on-one time, they accommodate regardless of what the "schedule" says. We recently moved houses and Finn struggled with the change and added stress. The Board Hound made me aware of the changes they had seen in his behavior and helped me manage his stress. They temporarily adjusted his day to ensure he was getting more rest, shortened his group play sessions to limit over stimulation, and increased his one-on-on time with the staff doing brain games and other activities. They provided updates and made sure I had a good sense of what they were seeing day-to-day. This reduced Finn's overall stress and made the transition to our new home easier. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate everything The Board Hound offers as support for my pup and his well being including the expertise of the staff, their excellent communication, and ongoing attentiveness to Finn's needs. After a few sessions, she started to play with all the dogs and became confident in her ability to socialize with puppies of different sizes. The puppy socials are on Sundays so it's very convenient for working dog parents. Additionally, they have staff in the sessions explaining what to do which we really appreciated! We learned a lot even though we thought we knew dog training very well. We never tried their other services but the staff is super nice and accommodating and highly recommend their puppy socials for new puppy owners. I believe they are $10 per session.
