We LOVE and are so grateful for Anne Marie and the team! We have two standard poodles, Roosevelt and Lucy, with very different personalities, and they can provide both of them with what they need. We love that they take their time with Roosevelt, who is terrified of leashes, and kindly put him. They also love our wild Lucy girl! Bonus Points- they provide an email update with photos every walk! They also have pet sit for us in-home, providing sitting services. I recently had a flight delay and cancelation that left me getting home several hours after my expected arrival. Anne Marie was able to arrange for an emergency house key transfer and evening walk so that my senior pup wasn't left unattended - a true life saver. We were genuinely overwhelmed by the attention, care, and thoughtfulness that Anne Marie demonstrated during our first cat-sitting experience with The Puppy Au Pair. She really goes above and beyond! We're new to the city and the condo building, and since Alexandria is so pet friendly, our building promoted The Puppy Au Pair in the front entrance, so this is how we found out about Anne Marie and her services. We called her up and she arranged a complimentary meet and greet so we could get to know each other, and so we could introduce her to our cat, Cleo. She took diligent notes and had a really genuine, friendly, and respectful presence. She asked us to complete a brief document outlining Cleo's routine, emergency and vet contact, and any special instructions. Anne Marie is very organized and professional about how she conducts her services and interacts with clients. We really appreciated this and took comfort in knowing that she would not only be respectful while in our home, but that Cleo was in the hands of someone who truly loves animals and understands their needs. While we were away, Anne Marie sent us a daily email update about her visit with Cleo, including pictures and adorable captions. This is what we mean by above and beyond! We loved receiving these emails, as they let us see how Cleo was doing, but it also helped us feel closer to her while we were away. Anne Marie even brought our newspaper in from the front of the building and left it for us on the counter upon our return. She's the best! But there's more... When we returned home after our little getaway, we noticed a little brown bag on our counter with "Kitty Bag" written on it... and inside, was a hand-written card, along with three cat toys for Cleo! We put the toys on the floor for Cleo and she started playing with them right away - it was really cute to watch. She also included a handy fridge magnet so we could quickly reference her contact information for future visits. This has been one of the most positive pet-sitting experiences we've ever had! Cleo agrees! We couldn't recommend The Puppy Au Pair (and Anne Marie) more to anyone who's looking for a kind, thoughtful, trustworthy, and very professional person to take care of their canine or feline "child". Anne Marie and team are such an amazing comfort when we leave our dog at home during the workday. We use the Puppy Au Pair for our young cattle dog mix who is very excitable and energetic for a mid-day walk. I was nervous that he would be 'too much' for the average person but Anne Marie has been so great with him. Our pup absolutely loves her and loses his mind with excitement when she comes by to pick him up. Best pet sitters we've found by far. They feel more casual at first (in that, this is a neighbor I trust and who cares kind of way -- as opposed to the big company that has good hearted individuals but a money making mindset). They still very professional and come out to do the meet and great and get instructions. When caring for our pet, they send the best updates - daily - via modern technology (email). Shocker I know since most of the other companies we've used bring in a paper form and write a note (I still don't understand how any finds that valuable. I go on a vacation and 7 days later when I get home I find out my cat was upset and threw up). Not with puppy au pair... they care, they send an email update -- with pictures!!! I know the pets are happy and healthy and cared for. They are also incredibly responsive and so kind. We've always had them come through when we needed a sitter, even on holidays. Chloe and Anne Marie are amazing and I consider them part of BruceLee's extended family. They have always been available when I need them *including hours before I need a walk not that I recommend you do this to them*. They really seem to love my dog and BruceLee definitely loves them. As someone who works shift work, it is nice to know that my dog can get love, feedings, and a bathroom break even while I am working or sleeping. BruceLee is the unofficial mascot of my apartment building and these two make sure to always take him by the leasing office so he can say hello to his buddies down there. When my husband and I have gone on vacation, Chloe has boarded Bruce in her own home and with her own pup. We often get videos of Bruce's adventures when he is boarded which makes the separation easier. Rates are competitive for the area, paying is a breeze (just leave a check and they come get it during the next walk or you can venmo). Plus it is only Anne Marie or Chloe who walks Bruce so I do not feel weird about giving them access to my home. They go above and beyond and I highly recommend this pair! read more

I don't know about most of you but our dog Bella is our first child and we wouldn't take her to just anyone. Anne Marie is like a godsend. When I went into labor with our first human child we contacted Anne Marie and asked her if she could watch our 8 lb. shih-tzu poodle mix while we were in the hospital. Thankfully she had availability! We had previously done walks with her so Bells knew her, we felt comfortable with her in our home and caring for our pooch. We got text updates and some cute pics which confirmed that Bells was right as rain and we didn't have to worry about her while we were away. I honestly don't know how to do justice to how fantastic, Anne Marie (the Puppy Au Pair) is, but I will give it my best shot. My dog, Mouse, is a love-able and affectionate terrier mix who is absolutely head over heels in love with, Anne Marie. From the moment she came to see us for our free consultation, my dog leapt onto her lap for snuggles and kisses. She has the same impact each time she comes to walk her twice per week. My dog is wagging her tail so much she practically folds her self in half as she wiggles to greet her and she cries, yes, CRIES, when she leaves. So, Anne Marie has the doggie vote in our house but what about the human seal of approval? I work from home and like to have a dog walker/friend for my pup, so that she doesn't get too used to only being with me and get separation anxiety, so I am often home when Anne Marie comes a calling for, Mouse. Aside from the fact that I see my best furry friend gleefully spring up to shower Anne Marie with affection, I get to hear and see how, Anne Marie tenderly reciprocates and looks equally excited to see her. Anne Marie is also always punctual, friendly, organized and in short, a pleasure to work with. Anne Marie and Chloe are AMAZING... they treat my pug Tater like their own. they walk him every day m-f and I know Tater enjoys it. The few times I've been home when they come he gets so excited and rushes out the door with them.
