We were having problems with our old Vet. Close friend recommended Pawz To Care. Our Great Dane had a quick growing mass on her chest, the the old vet was just blowing us off. We called, told them our situation, they were able to work us in within a few days. After hearing our concerns, examining our baby, the vet gave us several options, which we immediately wanted this mass removed. The vet tagged team with another vet in the clinic, getting the surgery scheduled in the next few weeks. Everything went well, aftercare was explained, all our future concerns were addressed, follow up scheduled. The professionalism of their staff, great customer service skills, & skill set of both Vets will keep us at this great facility. We had two litter mates who we had to have euthanized recently for kidney failure. And the two sisters died within a month of one another. Suffice it to say, my wife and I were devastated. This will be the first time in our 49 years together that we will not have a cat. The staff at Pawz to Care were sympathetic and supportive and loving. Dealing with grieving pet owners must be tremendously hard on the employees but they were thoughtful, got us in in a timely manner. They brought us into a private room as soon as we arrived and in each sad visit treated our two girls with patience and respect. The process of losing your beloved pet is heartbreaking, but Megan, who provided the end of life service was sympathetic and caring. She told us helping a failing pet to die in peace and dignity was the greatest give we can offer. And they have been terrific and caring for office visits as well. read more

I came here on the recommendation of a neighbor with pets as a very who was close, attentive, and not too expensive. I have three cats, one year old came in for a nail trim. My two older cats both had to go in last week urgently. on two different days, each cat stopped eating and starting acted strangely. They were able to get each cat in urgently. for one, he went in when the office was going to close early, and the other I was able to bring her in, leave her there, and they'd see her in between patients. the staff is friendly. strangely, they don't have the capability to fax and possibly they can't email anything that requires being scanned. my big gripe is that I went out if my way to bring one of the cat's urine samples in during their posted office hours, and they were closed. I don't know if they were expensive compared to other vets because my cats really haven't needed anything before last week. read more

I would like to take a moment to pawz to thank the wonderful team at Pawz To Care! I am visiting from out of town and had an emergency with my cat Zia. She had a run in with a feral cat and had a puncture wound on her neck that lead to an inflection. I did not notice at the time that it happened because her coat is so thick. By the time I did notice the wound it had become infected. It was about 20 minutes to closing and the office receptionist Gayla was really kind. Dr. Sim had just ended her day and was about to leave when Gayla explained my situation. Dr. Sim waited for me to arrive with Zia to examine the wound. The staff met me outside and quickly took Zia in for examination. The tech Kelli did a quick consultation and explained the process of examination as well as treatments available. I was really impressed and felt very fortunate that I received such amazing customer service. Everyone stayed after hours to take care of Zia. This gave me such peace of mind knowing that Zia was in good hands. The process was quick and Zia was returned completely unaffected. This is my home town and I am proud to know that there is trustworthy medical care for pets in the area. Zia was mistreated by a veterinarian in San Diego so I was feeling a little reluctant to let them take her into the office without me being present. Took my dog here to establish primary care. Wow , great location next to the Freight House and super friendly staff . I knew this was the right place since speaking to Rita ( volunteer receptionist ) on the phone ! I would volunteer to help out here, too! Lol! The Doc was great and spent tons of time with me. It felt like she really genuinely cared about my dog. My vet tech was super nice and knowledgeable. Everyone was easy going. Even the other clients in the waiting room were nice . Shout out to Kevin the 3-legged office cat. He is darling and got along great with my dog. So happy I found this place ! Updating my review, my husband called them to inform them about the payment and not receiving a detailed receipt and they told him they sent it to the wrong email. I went back to Pawz to care on a Tuesday 6-23-2020 to return the preventatives. When I did return the preventatives the worker there(don't know her name) but she told me with an attitude "We saw your review on yelp, and just so you know we know all the Vets around this area" idk why she had to bring up my review and don't know why she had to bring up them knowing other vets. Felt like a threat, as if she was going to tell other vets not to take my dogs. Why take out your anger on innocent animals. When I asked if I was going to get a receipt for the refund she said they'll email it to me when I get my refund in one to two days. It took them a week to do so and to give me my refund only when I called upset that it was not yet issued. Everything about this experience was awful and unprofessional. We have a houseful of pets (4 cats and 2 dogs) so it was very convenient to have a home veterinary visit. Dr. Spohn is wonderful and so caring. She and her assistant were very kind to all the pets and patient with them, making them feel comfortable. Our pets got all the best care without the stressful car ride. They made sure we had everything we needed and even mailed us some samples for our specific pet needs for free. I thought it would cost a lot but it was very reasonable, which was an added bonus! read more

We brought our dog with chronic renal failure to Pawz to Care because we wanted more holistic care than we were receiving at our current vet. Dr Sims took her time to discuss our issues and possible approaches while treating our dear Luna with kindness. We we able to keep Luna alive and happy for a year before we needed euthanasia services. Dr Sims and Hannah came to the house and were very accepting of our sudden hesitation to euthanize that day, leaving us with reassurance that they would return when we were ready. We called about 10 days later and Dr Spohn rearranged her schedule to return with Hannah. They made sure Luna was comfortable and waited for us to signal that we were ready and our sweet dog slipped away very peacefully. They left with hugs for us and Luna on Hannah's lap which was the final act of kindness, giving Luna the dignity of being held rather than just being put in the car unattended. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the office did not have a reliable blood pressure cuff at the time we initially visited. read more

My husband and I moved to Placitas from Los Angeles 18 months ago and happened across this business by chance when having lunch at the Freight House. My older dog was in need of basic vaccines so we came here. The office is adorable and the staff very considerate and polite. I'll mention again...we came from L.A. where this isn't always the case. The vet was incredibly sweet with our dog, we loved it! That was a year ago and we have been back 5 or 6 times (we now have a puppy) Every time the same stellar service. I just took my dog here and I'm beyond thrilled. It's been a journey with one of my dogs, trying to uncover what's been a chronic health issue for a while now. I took her to another clinic in Bernalillo and really liked them at first, but got really upset with them, after it appeared to me there was always some new something I needed to have done with them before they could proceed. I got so upset, they sent me a letter and said I was no longer welcome there. What a freaking blessing. This lead me to Paws to Care. On the first visit, during COVID, the vet called me once she examined my dog and was so enlightening and helpful. She gave me options and asked me questions and respected my thoughts while also being confident about the best next steps to take. It's such a welcome relief. I can't recommend this place enough. I literally got choked up on the phone with the vet when she spoke to me. She was really kind and open. I feel like my dog is now taking the right steps for recovery. Truly grateful.
