Had a scheduled appointment to have both my dogs examined and to have their shots. I showed up at the clinic with both dogs on time, only to be told by the lady at the desk that our appointment had been cancelled. I was informed they attempted to call me for confirmation, but didn't answer. I admit, they did try and call...the day before, and the morning of the appointment, but my phone was turned down, and I wasn't aware of the messages. But what about a text to remind me. They called my wifes phone, but didn't leave her a message. Regardless, it's extremely poor customer service. I had planned my entire day around this appointment. My Doctor and Dentist don't even cancel scheduled appointments if I don't confirm. We won't ever be going back to these guys...too expensive anyway. read more

I used to love TLC. I'd almost brag about my vet. Lately, and especially since they've moved into their newest location, it seems like they are more a "boutique" service, than for the regular customers. I recently called for an appointment for my sick dog. The soonest they could see us was a week out. A week!?! A dog that's not feeling well doesn't need to go to an emergency vet, but they need to be seen before a week. By then, who knows, my dog might've needed the emergency vet. We rarely get to see the same vet twice. The techs are always different. I feel like an unwanted visitor, instead of a customer who has been going to TLC for 20 years. Also, I had an agreement with Dr. Salas for my service dog. I guess it wasn't written in my dog's chart, so after 7 years of seeing him, now they won't honor the deal. It breaks my heart, but we are looking for a new vet. read more

UPDATE to owners response: when being informed that they were short a doctor, your quote "that is a you problem" is completely false, that verbiage in any way shape or form was never used at any time, and Jocelyn never stated for us to go to the emergency . If he recorded his phone calls, he definitely has not gone back to listen to them. The proof is there. As for the bullying we never could or would bully anyone, and furthermore anyone reading this review can go back and see for themselves the actual bully in this establishment is tlc and its owner, any bad reviews tlc receives they never take accountability. It's always the customer's fault, this fact is in their responses, which always put the blame on anyone who has a bad experience with them. Finally, we did still have credit of at least $600+ dollars, none of that was ever used towards visits for the precious dog we still have. Dr. Salas tlc does not understand what grace and understanding means, because had that happened when we called about our situation, we would never be writing this review. Review 1 of 2 - my review is too long to fit in one yelp review - please see review 2 of 2 on google reviews) We have been taking our dogs to TLC for at least the last 5 to 6 years, on a consistent basis they would see the tlc vets at least 3 or 4 per year, some years more often, and also during emergencies we would contact them, and never had issues taking them in the same day we called. Both of our dogs have very thick medical files. At one point we even paid in advance for services for both dogs, one of which is diabetic, and as time went on what was paid for in advance, which was dental work we decided was too risky so never had the procedure done, yet they still kept the money paid in advance. Last year one of our dogs passed, who also had a credit for the same dental procedure which was going to occur at the time that she became ill. Both dogs at that time were 13 years old, which is considered very senior. The amount of credit for each dog was about $300 so a total of maybe $600. We had hoped that possibly they would work with us to give the dog that passed credit to veterinarian needs towards the other dog which we still have today. But they would not allow that so they kept the total $600 plus and we never got credit towards anything else that our prescious back for. Last Friday we contacted TLC to see if they could take our remaining precious dog because she was experiencing a serious condition with her anal glands. The first person we spoke with who I believe her name is Jocelyn when she found out who we were by being given the dogs name. She immediately said that they had no openings. They were short a Doctor Who had called out and they couldn't see her for at least two weeks. My mother asked if she could be taken as an emergency even on a waiting list. Jocelyn said no they had no openings for at least two weeks. I then got on the phone and explained that I am their son and wanted to know really is there no way that she can be taken as an emergency or be put on their cancellation list, to which she said no. I started to talk again and before I knew it, the phone had been hung up by Jocelyn. I then immediately called back and the phone rang and rang and rang. So I called again, using a different phone of ours and this time immediately (you can decide for yourself if my mother's phone number was being ignored or not) Sharaya answered. I briefly explained what had just happened and asked if we could get a message to Dr. Salas, who my parents have met before and told me very good things about him thinking he would help us or at least listen to us with what happened earlier with Jocelyn. Sharaya did what she could to try to be empathetic to what happened apologized she did try to do the right thing. A few days later, we received a call from the office manager, who seemed to have already made a decision that TLC acted appropriately to which we gave no other information to her. *It seems yelp won't let me post the remainder of the review today (too long I guess) so I will post it tomorrow or as soon as I can. The only compliment I can give to TLC is that their receptionists are wonderful. With that said, now comes the bad part: I took my 12-year-old rescue kitty into TLC on 7/2/2025. I adopted her about a month ago. She was an abused kitty - the worst was that someone cut off her tail - NOTHING left of the tail. As I sat in the waiting room, waiting for my turn, I noticed an old woman with her old dog at the reception desk. She was trying to understand why her bill was so high. The receptionist was trying to sell her some discount package. smh I felt so bad for this older woman that I was debating whether to help her out with her bill, but then I got called in for my kitty to be seen. Suddenly I just felt so uncomfortable. I was beginning to think that I was in the wrong place. I should have paid attention to myself - I was in the wrong place. My vet was a young woman who looked like she had just graduated HS, she was nervous, and she acted like she didn't know much - other than how to jack up my bill. Anyway, to cut to the chase, she really didn't know what was wrong with my cat's ear (my cat had been scratching one of her ears very badly). When I came home, I did some research, and I'm pretty sure my kitty has ear mites (I will find out for certain when I take her to my NEW vet). And that was just the beginning. I spent a good deal of time in the exam room, alone with my cat. The Vet finally prescribed an ointment which can cause deafness (temporary AND permanent) in both cats and dogs. This ointment can also have serious side effects. Now, I realize that all drugs have side effects, but you think she would have informed me about this drug. (I found out about this drug when I went home and researched it on the web.) Deafness is not a common side effect, but deafness happens often enough that there are warnings about this drug on the web. And for an hour or so of much of nothing re good care, I was changed $270+. AND I was charged the fee for the basic exam TWICE. So - the bill was almost $350. (I called this morning - I was refunded the duplicate fee.) I will NEVER EVER return to TLC. NEVER. Trust the bad reviews. This place is ALL about $$$$. And I have no doubts that clients with lots of money to spend get good care. What I know, for a fact, is that I can get MUCH better treatment, for myself, from an AMA Medical Doctor for much less, even without insurance. And before you blame ME, TLC, I saw what you said to that client with a complaint, "You let yourself spiral out of control." WHAT A MEAN AND UNPROFESSIONAL THING TO SAY TO ANYONE. So.... I took my dog to TLC PET HOSPITAL. They did not listen asking over and over the same question. I told them I gave proof of rabies at the front desk multiple times. They were more interested in selling me things than my dog. It gave me the feeling of a server selling appetizers at a restaurant. They want your money they do not care about your pet. I just had my German Shepherd spayed and I truly appreciate the level of professionalism from our vet tech! I really felt comfortable leaving our little girl with them and she was in great shape when we picked her up. My youngest is going in for her spay next week, we're doing a Gastropexy with her as well. The vets at TLC do specialized procedures that our regular veterinarian doesn't do. Dr Solis operated on my dog, removed his spleen which wasn't cancerous. We never saw the doctor before his surgery or after his surgery. We got a phone call. 3 weeks after my dog's surgery he started going downhill. I called TLC and told them and was told it couldn't possibly be from his surgery. One week later he died. Apparently he was bleeding internally. Do your homework before you go to TLC. read more

I have been a long time client of TLC Pet hospital. They have always provided my pets with great service and kindness. I have had the pleasure of having my older girls being seen by Dr. Georges. She has always been kind and patient with my pets and myself. Always fully explaining what she is doing as she is doing the exams and why she recommends certain diagnostics. She has always had the best interest of my pet's care. When I added a elderly Chihuahua to the gang, she came up with a plan to help improve his Quality of Life. Though he was with us for only 2 months, he had the best quality care provided by Dr. Georges. She would call weekly to check and see how he was doing. I have and will always be grateful for her saving my Maisy's life, when she went into Anaphylaxis Shock, though Maisy is no longer with us, I send Dr. Georges a thank you for giving me that much more time with her, as I could have lost her a few years ago. There is so much more appreciative moments I could list, but please make an appointment to see her and get the same quality care for your pets when she is their Doctor. I have made two appointments recently at SR that fortunately I had to cancel before they date arrived, but Sun Ranch has been GREAT when others wouldn't listen, especially impressive during the pandemic. They appointments both had to do with a litter of puppies I have now, first for the mother and today for a 7 week old puppy I was concerned about, who is better today! Both times I could get an appointment quickly and the staff was very understanding, very rare these days! I had been doing business with them for about 5 years. They are a bit more expensive than other vets and it is always hard to schedule an appointment. The staff is great and the vets are too. However, my dog got hurt and they couldn't see him for a month. Their emergency practice for fur babies is unacceptable and I found a new vet. Just had a terrible experience at TIC. The front office staff and my tech were very professional and courteous. But then I got to the vet--a Dr Garber or Garver. She was arrogant, unprofessional, and nasty. At the beginning of the visit I asked the tech if it would be possible to get a 2-way distemper-parvo vaccine. My old vet and others make a convincing case that we are way over-vaccinating our dogs. That a series of two, 2 way shots should be sufficient for the dog's lifetime. The tech, Sam, said they didn't offer that. Fine. So I was going to leave. But she said I should talk to the doctor. The doctor explained it's the clinic's protocol, they follow guidelines, and they don't offer the 2-way. She also pointed out it will be very hard to find the 2-way. TIC gives a series of the 4 way shots. Of course I adore my dog and want to do the right thing. I ask if we can give him 1 of their 4-way shots and then titer him to see if he's protected. She said no. I asked if she would read the material I have and explain to me why it's wrong. It's by other vets and researchers and I am just trying to understand. This is went it went south. She made several off hand remarks about how THEIR clients want a higher level of protection than what I want. Her judgement was clear. Then she actually said: I didn't just spend $180,000 on my education to read YOUR materials. I told her I could not believe she just said that to me. That her arrogance and lack of intellectual curiosity where enough for me to know this would not work. She pulled the non-apology apology: sorry you feel that way. I have an advanced degree. And while not a vet, not the idiot she wanted she wanted to make me out to be. And if I actually quoted the cost of my education to belittle someone at my work, I would be out of a job. There may be other good vets there. But she was awful. Stay away. read more

One of our dogs blew out his ACL. We had no idea what we should do. We started researching Veterinarians and came across TLC we liked what the site showed for the ACL process. We set up an appointment and at first it was way out we took it and the company called us and said we could get in early and that was great. Once there they were very professional and when the doc came in to talk to us we liked him right away. He is very knowledgeable and he loves his job and it shows by the excitement in his voice and actions when discussing the process with us. I could really go on for a long time as every aspect of this experience is worth accounting for. To save everyone the lengthy read I'm going to say this. If you want an overall outstanding team to care for your pet TLC Pet Hospital is the number one choice in New Mexico. This place has outstanding customer service and really care for your pets. My mother has a little terrier mix that has been going to TLC on Wyoming for many years. He recently got very sick, vomiting and horrible diarrhea for a few days. He weighs 29 pounds so dehydration was a serious concern. We called TLC and we're told the soonest they could see him was the end of next month. Wow! Great care. Not even a quick chat with the vet for suggestions on what we should be doing was offered. Eubank Animal Clinic, the vets we use for our dogs, showed more concern for this sick little pup and made time to see him. Find a place that actually cares about your pets. read more

This is long overdue for a review, mainly because I still have a hard time thinking about what happened, but I will never take my dogs to TLC. Back in 2020, I received a Standard poodle at the beginning of the year as a late Christmas present. She meant the world to me, and I loved her with all my heart. We took her to TLC to get her spayed and a hernia repaired on June 10th. They sent her home barely an hour after the surgery, knowing very well about the nicked artery they thought would heal on its own with the help of a belly band of all things. We weren't told that she had internal bleeding until it was too late. In the early hours of June 11, 2020, my dog was stiff as a board, dead at the foot of my couch. It's devastated our family, despite their agreement to pay for the cost of a replacement dog. They were terrified we were going to sue, which I still kick myself for not going through with. Do not go to TLC. Their surgeons receive no repercussions for a botched surgery, and the only thing you get in return is a box of your pet's ashes and their paw print in a solid wax memorial stone. read more

Excellent service, compassion and follow-up; if only I could find a pediatrician with the same customer service! I brought in my tiny fur baby with concerning symptoms. It was 7:30 am and I had to be at work. They let me drop him off. In an hour, the vet called and discussed the diagnosis with me at length. They also kept him for observation for the day. When I picked him up, the staff gushed over how cute he is (I'm sure they do this for everyone but it really makes you feel special). The price was reasonable and the vet tech called me the next day to check up on him. Excellent service, clean office and knowledgeable staff. read more

I'd rate them 10 stars if possible. DR. Salas is the best Vet I have ever seen. My dog had a TPLO surgery here for at least a grand cheaper than the other vet that does it in town would have charged. Dr. Salas has taken time to reach out personally and check on Koda. He also had us bring her in for an additional look over when we told her she smelled worse than normal. It was just her being a stinky pup, nothing related to the surgery and yet they still did not charge. He simply wanted to make sure she was okay and that there was nothing else going on causing her to be more "aromatic." TLC does not nickel and dime you, and they truly care about the well being of the animals. You can see it the moment Dr. Salas comes in the room that he absolutely loves and cares for your pet. He is also extremely thorough and goes the extra mile every time we come in. I will never take a pet anywhere else, and I highly recommend TLC with Dr. Salas. read more

I have not formally been into TLC (my husband has with our Mini Pin.) but I have to say thank you for the fast and professional service you guys provided! I had two more visits to my current vet and I was not happy with the service so I switched it up. I called TLC and they worked to get my doggy in as soon as possible. They told me I could just drop a stool sample off if I wanted to get an update before the the appointment. So I dropped the stool sample off for only $15 dollars to be tested. They called me back within a day to inform me my doggy stool tested negative for parasites and probably just ate something bad. I went ahead and canceled my appointment but if I have any other vet needs I will be taking my poochie into this vet! Thanks TLC! read more

TLC and Dr Harris have provided outstanding care and service for our very ill dog including euthanasia when it was clear she was not going to recover. We had about 2 weeks more with our dog that otherwise would not have had and helped us when she made the transition. The blase attitude of the receptionist in the feline area still astounds me! Timmy went in four days ago with coughing. To make a very long story short, he was diagnosed with asthma and prescribed a steroid and Claritin. Well five days later he seems to have an additional uri and the receptionist doesn't seem to care. He needs to have continuity of care and they don't seem to have a space for him today, Saturday. I refuse to go to VCA when TLC needs to be consulted as they started the treatment! read more

TLDR; TLC took my boxer in during COVID 19 because as a new patient during COVID-19, they listened to me. TLC took out an MCT when another vet clinic receptionists wouldn't even refer me to a Dr. to explain her history because the receptionist didn't think this was a time sensitive issue... LONG STORY: Moved to ABQ in Jan 20... I may not have a Dr. But I was hell bent to make sure my 2 old rescued boxers had a vet. Visited another vet clinic within the month of moving to make sure my dogs had what they needed. Sent medical history and everything. Then COVID 19 hit and called the clinic I had set everything up with. One boxer has a history of MCT (mast cell tumors). If you don't catch those suckers QUICK they become deadly. They are small but TRICKY... Called the first vet and the receptionist told me they only take emergent issues. I tried to tell her my dog's history NO GO... I couldn't even talk to a vet... Called TLC They connected my to a Dr and they agreed dog can't wait. If I had waited for that other vet clinic, my boxer would have had a 3MO MCT... And at that point it would've been UGLY!!! DO NOT GO TO TLC PET HOSPITAL!Veterinarian LIZ GEORGES pushed me!! I voiced my concerns about her lack of care and concern for my dog. I was also there for my 2nd free visit as part of a senior care package I purchased months ago. They tried to charge me for a new exam as well as adding services that the veterinarian did not discuss with me. When I wanted to speak to another veterinarian about the situation, Dr. LIZ GEORGES came back and wanted me to leave and said I was "fired" and "banned". She was so dismissive, I was shocked at her behavior and how irrational she was being. All because I feel like she was impersonal and showed no concern for my dogs well being? I went to the front desk because since she was "banning" me, I needed another bag of subcontainious fluids, we all know how long it takes to get into a new vet clinic. She told the front desk not to sell me anything and said she would call the police. Well knowing very well that I had done nothing wrong, I told her to go ahead and call. I would be waiting until the front office staff was done printing up my records (again we all know how long it would take to get them by mail). She then came up and pushed me. I am shocked that TLC pet hospital allows their veterinarians to get away with this sort of behavior. It's inexcusable! I have health issues that she triggered as part of her actions. She is a professional and I am a customer there with my dying dog. There is absolutely no excuse for her behavior! She has NO RIGHT to put her hands on me, regardless of the circumstances. I do not deserve the emotional, mental, and physical anguish I have endured. I had been a customer there for years. I am utterly disgusted with that woman and that clinic. How can someone be allowed to get away with this in her line of work? They took an oath and now because of her actions, my dog, who is in stage 3 kidney disease, is the one who has to suffer. read more

We couldn't be happier with Dr. Salas and TLC Pet Hospital. Our dog Paco had TTA surgery on his left leg several years ago (w/ a vet in Texas) and sadly tore his right ACL last fall. We read about a new modified TTA that is a bit easier on the dog and we were thrilled when we found out that Dr. Salas had done many of this kind of surgery. Paco is doing great and the recovery went perfectly. Dr. Salas, and everyone at the hospital, has been extremely communicative and helpful (even calling us several times to make sure everything was going ok). What an amazing doctor and hospital--can't recommend enough!! read more

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. Thank god we found this place! Over the past two years they have been amazing with our two black Labradors and our elderly kitty. Their staff is amazing, always kind and caring. They have gotten us in for same day appointments. We haven't been penalized when appointments are cancelled same day. They follow up with a call after vet visits to ensure our animals are healthy and/or feeling better. They are affordable, and have worked with our budget when times are tight. I can't say enough about this location. We are so grateful to them for the caring and attention my fur-babies deserve. read more

We brought our cat Callie to TLC to be seen for a tumor on her neck. We were worried about the Covid restrictions but the whole process was efficient, easy and smooth. The aide brought her in to the hospital from our car and the doctor phoned us right away to gave us an update on our cat. Everyone there was kind and loving to our cat and we appreciated the excellent care she received from them. read more

Shame that i cant give this place 5 stars because everyone from the reception to the vet tech to the vet were Stellar. Was on a road trip and one of my critters needed vet attention, Albuquerque was the closest stop and they were able to get us in. They were so great with my cat. UNFORTUNATELY their security was 100% racial profiling and harassing my husband while i was in the vets office. My husband was in the passenger seat waiting in the car with my dog and the security guard started hanging out around the car. He then knocked on the window and told him to roll it down and then to get out. My husband knowing that a Security guard is not the law and was doing nothing wrong by waiting in the car for me, said NO. He then told him he was waiting for his wife who was inside, and he continued to harass him. When after he told him that the proper thing to do was say ok and go on with his business but it escalated. The security guard then comes into the vets office as im checking out and I overhear him talking about a guy in the parking lot and i say my husband? He starts to explain that its his job to patrol the parking lot and how my husband is saying its about race. To which I immediately respond with, Well theres alot of stuff going on now days, would you say anything if it was an old white guy sitting the car with his dog? He looked away and went outside. He goes back towards my car AGAIN and now my husband is pissed and gets out and the security guard says hes going to call the cops and then puts the phone to his ear like hes calling the cops. I went back inside and told them hes calling the cops on my husband and 3 ladies come out with me and ask him and then he said No i didnt say that, even though hes still holding the phone to his ear like he is. 100% racist 100% profiling. A man is sitting in his car with his dog in a vet parking lot, not walking around it but in the passengers side scrolling thru his phone and the only threat is his brown face. A damn shame. I originally wrote a 5 star review, I guess I jumped the gun. I'm very disappointed when on Saturday the Vet on Duty did not returned my call to speak with me to address my concern. My dog had gone through surgery on Monday with his follow-up and Stiches to be removed in 10 days. he was prescribed RIMADYL, for pain. After giving him this drug, he began to show one of the serious side effects of loss of appetite. You can Google this drug and educate yourself to it's dangers. Well, I called the office because of my concern. I was told" Cats go downhill a lot faster than dogs" making reference to the deadly side effects, ( and I thought to myself, what kind of comment is this? ) My dog is displaying a serious side effect from a drug they prescribed and she's telling me about cats going downhill? My dog had Cancer in his Testicle, he just had surgery,. And I get this? I was told I would get a call back from the Vet on duty. It never happened. Well.....it's Saturday at 10:15 pm. As I write this. And no return call, or text message, or email yet and I called around 9:15 am. I'm very disappointed to say the least. read more
