Opened during the pandemic after the owners returned from Cameroon, Wild Kid Acres is a 5-acre farm of rescue animals. When you arrive, you feel like you're driving into someone's private driveway. Don't fret. Follow the "Wild Kid Acre" sign to park and the owner will greet you like a member of his family. The front area has a Little Free Library, a small playground with a slide and a climbing wall and an area with picnic tables and small farm animals like goats and chickens. Once you get your fill of love from the goats and chickens, the owner will guide you to the other animals- two pigs, a horse, a mini horse and cows. They ask that you don't pet them on the head and some are very nervous being rescue animals. Other than that, they are very friendly and love being around children. People can book an hour appointment online and it cost $15 per adult and $10 per child. Wild Kid Acres also hosts therapy sessions and goat yoga. With plenty of outdoor space to spread out, it's the perfect pandemic activity. If you need food, drive ten minutes into downtown Edgewater or further north to Annapolis.

It was a gift, but hadn't planned on wrapping it. this was a VERY nice touch. Reminding me of how stores used to treat their customers. 2. Products are well made, and my wife loves the feel of them. (So far no reactions, but wool takes a few hours to make her itch. She's only worn them for about an hour. The allergy has nothing to do with the quality of the product so won't report that here.) 3. Hand written note was a nice touch making me feel like even a small order customer is as important as a high spender. I hope my wife has no allergy issues, as I want to order MANY more items from here for her, including some blankets. Only one wish was that the Socks had some nonslip on the bottom of them. My wife loves the feel, but they are slick on our hardwood floor, so she cant run around the house in them without shoes. Maybe have that as an optional thing. I know not everyone likes it on the bottom of their socks.

The chickens, ducks, geese and turkey roam freely and are fed chemical free food. Moose Manor is run by Dana, a friendly and knowledgeable duck expert also known as the "head hen herder". The farm also participates in conservation and breeding of a rare type of duck. I'm all quacked out on what the name of that duck line is at the moment. But super important work nonetheless. We have enjoyed the duck eggs, chicken eggs, and whole duck meat that we got from the farm. The quality and taste of the eggs and duck meat are much higher than that of the standard grocer fare. And for those adventuring into mini - homesteading, Moose Manor also sells hatching eggs, chicks, ducklings, and goslings. You can also learn backyard poultry raising and processing skills at her fall homesteading workshops. Moose Manor also hosts an annual seed swap and potluck for members of the farm mailing list. We were blown away by charm and friendliness of Dana that we have remained in touch regularly.

My first time attending the Lotus and Water Lily Festival. There were so many beautiful flowers…read moreeverywhere. It was held at the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. This Festival is such a beautiful and very scenic time/place with plenty of areas to walk, enjoy the view and for photo ops. There were many activity stations to paint flowers, make flower hats or flower decorations. Both kids and adults partook in the activities. They had an early morning yoga session at the stage area at 8am (bring your own mats!!). There were many other performances including dances and songs. Be sure to check out their web page for the schedule of performances/activities. Signs showing maps, descriptions of the flowers, etc. are around the grounds for visitors. Picnic tables allow visitors to bring their own food/drinks to enjoy while watching any performances. We were here for the Water Lilly and Lotus Festival, held yearly. Of course, we visited on a very hot hot day, so plenty of water, sunscreen, protective clothing and hats are highly recommended! There is a first aid and DC Fire & EMT truck available for any reason. There are enough porta potties available at the entrance of the park as well near the visitor center. There was also a bathroom "trailer" with three stalls, working sinks and the toilets hide any surprises when pushing the handle. Parking is available within the neighborhood streets, most of which are parallel parking.

The eggs were fresh and delicious with bright yellow yolk. We also got sweet potatoes which had great flavor and were not dry. We saw other produce, meats, fruit, baked goods, etc. They also sell hot food and have tables to sit and eat. They still had great looking corn and other crops in the fields. Chapin is a working farm so nothing fancy but everything looked good and fresh! Going back to try more!
