Like everything else the cost of care for the animals is on the pricey side here in Payson. The dogs are covered in the valley, but the cats vet is pace and pet care. In the valley I paid $150 to have one of the cats spayed and microchip and cost over $400 to do it here but they are right down the street from my house and convenience for animals that don't need to see the vet very often. They're always very nice and generally they run on schedule. read more

I'm from Southern California to honor my best friend's mother. My best friend traveled from Atlanta with her French Bulldog Lou. Unfortunately Lou hurt himself and was in need of pain relief. Payson Pet Care was able to fit Lou in on a Saturday. Naomi a pet nurse was so helpful bringing a pet stretcher out to the car and bringing Lou in. Dr. Jon Wheeler examined Lou. He did an amazing job examining Lou verifying that he could feel deep pain. Dr. Wheeler prescribed some pain medication that allow Lou to travel back to Atlanta comfortably. So relieved that Lou could get some respite from the pain. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wheeler and the team at Payson Pet Center. Probably the best experience I've had at a vet. This place had no animals in sight and I was turned away with my dog who needed oxygen and treatment asap as fluid was building in his lungs. They turned me away stating that their vets were all on lunch and had no oxygen tanks that could help him and recommended that I'd take my dog back down lower elevation and visit the Mesa Emergency vets. This place should not be considered hospital if they don't have the necessary equipment to treat emergencies. Unfortunately, my dog did not make it. read more

The vet Britney was very nice, and took time to answer all my questions. The vet assistant Chris was mean. I told her my 10YO lab would not let anyone take his temperature in the butt and to take it from the ear. She took a militant attitude with me, had another assistant come in to help hold the dog and then fought with him until he urinated. Finally she gave up and went on without taking his temperature. This was all unnecessary trauma to the dog (and me). If she would have listened to me and not taken a militant attitude with me things would have gone smoother. read more

The day after New Years we had to put our Caylee to sleep. We showed up there at 8am sharp & they took us right in. When we entered the "peaceful" room I was so comforted. The staff, Doctor & Techs were absolutely amazing! They made this sad time bearable. A few days later we received a card in the mail that also included 4 of Caylee's paw prints. Well after all of the problems here, again I find out something else they did wrong, they lied to me about the results of my dogs blood tests, the new vet I took her to showed me the levels and showed me what they are supposed to be and what they are!! Our two dogs WERE patients here but not anymore after the experience my dad had today. Our 5 pound elderly Yorkie was having trouble breathing and my dad rushed over there to have her seen. When he walked up to the door to open it a woman inside grabbed the door and rudely said "we are closed for lunch, I'm only here to let the UPS driver in." My dad explained that his dog had been seen there before and was struggling to breathe and asked if there was anything they could do. She told him to wait and locked the door behind her. She came back a few minutes later with some paperwork and began shooting numbers at him. She told him that there would be an almost $200 "emergency fee" which seemed to be applied because it was their lunch hour. She shot off a couple more numbers and said he could leave her there and they would hook her up to oxygen but that "they had meetings all day and wouldn't be able to see her until tomorrow." "I'll just give you a figure, it will be around $1200 before we can figure out what is wrong with her" is what she said next. She was extremely rude, unprofessional and honestly pretty heartless to somebody standing there holding his dog that couldn't breathe. This is very disgusting behavior for somebody that should 1. provide customer service 2. care about animals. Shame on you! read more

After three years of our beloved dog being seen by Payson Pet Care, when she had a recent serious illness, there was no attempt by this office to see her any sooner than 7-10 days away, each time I called. We had to go to Phoenix for care 8 times over the next 10 days. When we needed help to refill our dogs prescriptions, they wanted to see her for an exam before they agreed to help. I took our sick dog to Payson Pet Care in between her hospital stays in Phoenix, they examined her and made note of all her current medications and agreed to refill her them, but then the doctor refused to do it when I called to request them two days later. When I left a message for the doctor to call me, my call was never returned. I will never trust this office with a beloved pet again. read more

My husband called this morning to get our German Shepherd in because she is probably dying and we just want a vet to look at her and they said no, not interested in seeing her at all. We also brought her down on the Saturday following Thanksgiving and again we were sent away and my dog had gotten into a pack of javalina and she had a huge gash in her upper lip and also they got her belly. Once again, this is the worst vet in Payson!! We called Dr. Eubank in Globe, where I live most of the time, and they got her in both times. She needed surgery then and I even got to stay with her during the surgery!! Now Samaritan Vet Clinic is the best vet in Arizona and Dr. Jeff and Mary Emily really care about animals and will make sure that you get in when you need to and have reasonable fees. So my suggestion is just bypass this terrible place and call the vet in Globe and save yourselves some heartache!! read more

Right now I would give them no stars if I could. My dogs were scheduled for their rattle snake vaccines today. When I scheduled the dogs, I confirmed the cost of the vaccine and inquired if there would be a vet appt. I was told no. Only the cost of the vaccine. My husband brought in the dogs today, they not only charged us for the vaccine, but charged us a vet appt. They also told my husband one dog (both are on the same schedule so this doesn't make sense) is due for his Bordetella and we needed Heart Guard. Both dogs had their Bordetella and 12 months of Heart Guard in Oct. I called to discuss the bill and how we were overbilled. I was told "it was a computer error and they'll have to open a ticket" to get the incorrect vaccine information corrected. They also refused to refund the vet visit telling me it is required and I have to pay for it. Had I been told ahead of time, I would have come in prepared but since I specifically inquired if there would be a vet visit, it left me furious. I spoke with the clinic and they are refunding the Bordetella cost due to their error, and I returned the Heart Guard. Could their negligence have caused an adverse reaction to my dog(s)? If they miss the little things do I feel safe bringing my dog back? No. Absolutely not. We are leaving this clinic immediately. read more

While up vacationing in Payson, our dog got into a fight with another over food. She injured her eye. It was a Sunday and we were 2 hours away from home. I am sooooo grateful to Dr. Steven DeCamp and Julie for coming into work on a Sunday afternoon to help us out! Our pup needed surgery for her eye. They were so efficient, friendly and reassuring. We were in and out in no time and the price was beyond reasonable for *emergency surgery during off hours*. I know I would have paid more than double (triple, maybe?) that if it happened in the valley. I am so grateful to this veterinarian practice to help us out when we needed it the most. So thankful for this clinic. We were up at Young camping over the weekend and our poor puppy (a year and a half old) swallowed a fish hook and liter. We flew up the hill to get service and got a hold of Dr Snyder right away. She was immediately consoling and told us to bring our pup in right away. She met us at the clinic and took X-rays. Hook was all the way in the stomach and our little girl wasn't feeling great at all. Got into surgery right away and saved her life. It was a decent size hook someone left laying around by the creek and our pup is a 10 lb doxie. The doc personally called us after the surgery and let us know she was fine. A tech met us at the office the next morning at our schedule time (which was nice because it was a Sunday and she had already been to the office that morning for regular work) Our pup was in great shape and was actually happy. Here we are in Monday night and she is doing great. Taking medicine and feeling much better. The Clinic just called to see how she was too. What a great place. So fortunate we found Dr Synder and her amazing staff. Our friends had this happen to them in Flag last year and their vet bill was $600 more of the exact same thing! After sharing our experience with them and how nice the staff was compared to the flag vet we felt even better about Payson Pet Care. Thank you of retaking care of our baby! Dr Snyder has no compassion. I called the clinic and explained that my 20 yr old cat was dying. She hadn't eaten in 2 weeks and could hardly walk. I didn't want her to suffer another day. I clearly explained that I wanted to put my kitty to sleep. When we arrived, they took us to an examination room and proceeded to take the kitty's vitals, etc. Then Dr Snyder came in and started to explain what kind of treatment we could try. My husband told her that we simply didn't want to prolong her misery. The Dr tried to put us on a guilt trip and then in a snotty way retorted that it would cost the same anyway. We asked how much and they came back with a bill for $330. We were stunned and walked out. We took her to Dr Hallman, who prayed with us before he euthanized her. He explained that her kidneys were so small that she probably had kidney failure and that we were doing the right thing. Do not go to Payson Pet Care. All they care about is money. read more

I am new to the area and my dogs got into a scuff, they are stressed from the move, I needed services for my one dog immediately. She also has issues from allergies so regardless she needed to be seen for that and the abrasions. Payson Pet Care got us in right away that same day. I had thought she was going to need some extensive tests, but they were very conservative and only did what was needed and did not feel she needed any additional testing. She definitely needed meds for infection and skin and the doctor who was a visiting doctor made some very helpful suggestions to deal with her skin allergy's. I got out of there with a very reasonable bill including the meds! I thought I was going to be dog broke, but was very satisfied with the amount I was billed. read more
