This place didn't show up on any search for reptile stores, so I thought I should add it to Yelp. Arizona Exotics is a tiny, cramped store, but it probably has to be, because there can't be a whole lot of demand for reptiles in a city as small as Payson. The store was in a kind of disarray and the cages were dirty, as if they had not been cleaned in a month or so. I was surprised by their variety of reptiles compared to their store size. They had quite a few species of snakes (mostly constrictors) as well as turtles, tortoises and a black throat monitor. They also had a few Uromastyx, one of which looked very ill. All the other animals looked healthy, so it was probably just sick, not malnourished. Either way it shouldn't be sold in the shape its in. Their prices on products seemed to be about average, but the reptiles themselves were a little cheaper than other stores I've seen. I don't know how helpful this review will be, because the employee I met in the store said they will be moving soon. I gave them an extra star on this review, because most of their problems would be fixed if they moved.

One of her adult children had left her with an adult stray cat they found who ended up being pregnant. She had 4 kittens. She is now moving to a care home. Being elderly and suffering a concussion from a fall she wasn't able to catch the kittens and take them to the Humane Society. We drove up and had an adventure. The kittens are so adorable. Right now I have a dog, green cheek and a pigeon with the hurt wing so our home was out of the question. We drove up and caught the kittens inside her home. The Payson Humane Society allowed us to drop them off for a fee. This was on a Friday afternoon after closing. They are a no kill shelter.The employees were out in the rain, sleet, walking dogs. Some of the dogs were actually walking the employees. Ha ha I made a promise to donate every month for the rest of the year. They have a link to do so right on their website. When we are ready for our next pet this is the place we are coming for sure. If you are an animal lover and feel drawn to donate please do so. Even 5 to 20 a month makes a difference.
