The location was perfect, steps away from the beach, amazing food spots and views. The room had everything you needed, the room and property was very clean. Vanessa at the front desk was the BEST.

This is from the third floor room above the office. Ocean view. I'll take it!

I stayed for a one night stay on a Tuesday. I was upgraded for free to the third floor. They only have 4 rooms on the third floor and a giant patio with tables and chairs. Room was chill.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. I would first like to say that Vanessa at the front desk was wonderful throughout my entire stay. Second, both rooms I slept in were cute and cozy. The bathroom items smelled really good including the complimentary hand sanitizer. Vanessa leaves fresh fruit out at the front desk which is perfect for someone health conscious like myself. The room has all the essentials you need for your stay including a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. There is free Wi-Fi available as well. The hotel is next to the beach and everything is within walking distance. Aside from the perfect location, customer service was outstanding. This hotel is great for solo travelers and/or couples. I highly recommend this hotel. Please know, parking can be difficult here so it's hit or miss if you get a spot. You may have to find parking on the street if a spot is not available on the property. I lucked out and found a spot on arrival so I just left my car parked and walked everywhere. Thank you Vanessa.

Our upgrade to a king suite :) + plywood, disassembled bed, dirty rag, mystery item bottom right :)

Quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. Tragically, we booked for 4 whole nights. Was it close to the beach? Yes. Would I have rather slept on the beach under a tarp? Also yes. And I probably would have but it was raining and I had no tarp. Customer service: 0/10 - we paid extra for a queen room. Upon arrival we were given a room with two single beds. As a couple, we asked if we could get a different room, preferably the one we paid extra for, so that we could sleep together. I was told that because I booked through a third party, I had to file a complaint with them because they never informed the hotel. Mysteriously they ended up finding our room reservation for a queen that they had the entire time (paranormal activity or staff with the competency of a herd of chickens? Still out for debate). They then profusely apologized for the mistake and "upgraded" us to a suite with a king! Fantastic, right? Nope and if you really thought that you obviously forgot what hotel we're talking about. Attached are pictures of the storage unit they so "graciously" bestowed upon us. I'm not going to touch on that any further. After returning and asking for a room with a bed we could actually sleep in, we were told that we could not be helped for our troubles because we were staying at the hotel for too long (remember, 4 days). But then we were told we would get a third room with a king. We didn't even want an upgrade, we just wanted a room with the queen. That we had paid extra for. We get to our third and final room. It is small. Dirty. And has a full bed in it, still not a queen. We went back to double check if it was a king, once again reiterating that it wasn't what we paid for, and we were affirmed that it was in fact a king. Spoiler: it wasn't, we measured it, it was most definitely a full bed. The impressively rude front desk woman called the manager, and the manager told her to inform us that if we had a problem we could go back to the room with two single beds or call the third party we booked from to see if they would refund us because they were going to do anything to fix their error. Ethicality: 0/10 - Upon receiving the third room and explaining that it was not a king, not even a queen, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE QUEENS, AND THAT THEY ADVERTISE SMALLER BEDS AS QUEENS TO GET MORE BUSINESS. Absolutely reporting to the BBB. Time wasting: 11/10 - Every time we had to go to try to figure out our room situation we had to wait at least 20 minutes in line because the line was out the door and around the corner with people also having issues. Every. Single. Time. What could have been 30 minutes total actually took us 2 hours just to find not even a semblance of a resolution. Adrenaline booster: 5/10 - nice part of pacific beach, truly. But if you're looking for a dicey place with drug exchanges happening in the parking lot and people walking by your room door all night and music 24/7, then I hate to say it but this might actually be the place for you. C'est la vie, I suppose. Pro tip: if you have to stay here, BOOK THROUGH A THIRD PARTY. DO IT. The hotel will not reimburse you for any issues that arise or fix anything, but the third party we booked from gladly helped us out.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. Full Service with a Smile…read more My family and I had a fantastic stay at The Pendry. From the moment we arrived, Logan greeted us with warmth and took our belongings to our room. He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The hotel's restaurants offered delicious meals, making dining a pleasure. Cathryn, with her crossed key pins, was an outstanding concierge. She provided invaluable advice on local beach spots and dining options. After making a poor Yelp choice, she came to my rescue, finding great restaurants in both the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy that suited our specific preferences. One small gripe: We were locked out of our room probably because we requested late check out and tried getting in after 11am (something needs to be done to prevent this, it was annoying). The valet parking was around $70 so we found a parking lot a few blocks away. The walk wasn't bad so a good alternative. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I booked through Chase Sapphire Reserve The Edit and got the following perks: 1. Upgrade to higher floor room 2. Amenity (a box of chocolates) 3. $100 credit (used on lunch at Provisional Kitchen) 4. $60 breakfast credit (used at Provisional Kitchen) 5. Early check in (got in at 1:30pm); late check out (12:30pm) Honestly a good stay but without those perks, I'd rather book elsewhere not in downtown with options for parking.

Our first room was small and the bed was basically down to the springs. It was horrible. While the location is excellent, there were several things that made the stay less enjoyable. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. There isn't an air vent in the living room, so if you have additional guests sleeping on the sofa bed, they receive very little airflow. Most of the cool air stays in the bedroom, especially if the sliding door is closed. Even with the door open, the living room never cooled down enough to be comfortable. Another downside is the bathroom layout. The only bathroom is located inside the bedroom, which means anyone sleeping in the living room has to walk through the bedroom to use it. If you're planning to share the suite with family or friends, this layout isn't very practical. We also ordered room service, and our order was prepared incorrectly. After calling to have it corrected, it took over an hour for them to bring the replacement meal. Since the mistake was on the hotel's end, that wait time was unacceptable. I was also surprised that the hotel doesn't have a small convenience section for snacks, drinks, or forgotten essentials like toothpaste or mouthwash. Instead, you'll need to walk a couple of blocks to a 7-Eleven or CVS to pick up basic items. The best part of this hotel is its location. It's directly next to Petco Park, and there's a bridge that takes you straight to the stadium, making it incredibly convenient for baseball fans and helping you avoid going through the regular lines. Overall, if you're staying specifically to attend a game or concert at Petco Park, the location is great. However, if you're simply looking for a hotel in downtown San Diego, I think there are likely better options that offer more comfort and convenience for the price.

I paid an arm and a leg for the room but it was absolutely massive and I had sliding glass doors directly onto my own private patio which was right next to the pool overlooking the ocean, it was really incredible despite how outdated the room felt, somehow the size of the room made it more modern and it felt clean. The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. For a charge of course but I do appreciate the honesty of the staff that goes a long long way! Thank you!!

Absolutely Wonderful Anniversary Getaway at the Hotel del Coronado…read more My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a beautiful weekend stay at the iconic Hotel del Coronado in a King Room with an Oceanview Balcony. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special. The two young ladies who checked us in were an absolute delight. They looked like sisters but are actually best friends, and their genuine warmth and kindness made the start of our stay so memorable. The concierge was equally fantastic, ensuring our bags were delivered quickly and that we were comfortably settled in our room. The property itself is breathtaking...! The meticulously maintained gardens and stunning California coastal location provided the perfect romantic setting. We enjoyed outstanding fine dining experiences at both Nobu del Coronado and Seréa. What truly touched us was returning to our room to find a thoughtful happy anniversary card and a small box of delicious chocolates from the front desk team. It was such a sweet and personal touch. We were genuinely sad to leave and will absolutely be returning. Thank you to the entire team at the Hotel del Coronado for making our anniversary weekend so special!

Our original plan was a beach day at the Del but sewage from Tijuana changed that and the flags remained red. You couldn't get that close for pictures either. So instead we walked the grounds, explored the history of the hotel and found out it is a Hilton brand for future visits. Definitely a must see!
