First what was good: They texted me they might be late, but arrived about on time actually, 7pm. I had held Kat Perfect in my lap for an hour after cremation of free choice and they called to say they were at the front door. I said I was on the back patio and they were happy to walk around to pick her up. Although I handed her over the rail on a flower pillow, which he mentioned he could cremate with her but then I figured it could have toxic chemicals and plastics I wouldn't want with her ashes, he placed the pillow and her inside a dark wicker basket gently and covered her body with a dark towel. He showed me an example of what her paw print in cement would look like, and the box ashes would be in, and how to open the box if we wanted to sprinkle her somewhere (I don't care about rules, I may put some over mom's grave since it was her cat.) He was pleasant and respectful. I was told it will take about one week. She died on June 10th, 4 days ago, and to my surprise they delivered her remains today. A different man with a heavy islander accent, who I had spoken to originally over the phone when calling to make the pick up, was who delivered her. He had a large dog (living one) in his trunk, and parked in the covered spot that is mine but isn't supposed to be for visitors. He had to get the dog settled and at first I was confused if he was delivering her or it was someone else I spoke to. He handed me a paper bag, blue colored, with simple hanging tag with Kat's name, and left after just a bit of chit chat where he was from, Maryland. I did not hurry to open everything, but waited until a friend could join me virtually. We feared up looking at everything, like poems. I agree with another reviewer that some of it is cheesy, may be better to just put the pet's name and date of death on the engraved tag that is taped onto the wood box. Yes, it is easy to remove the tag; it is not set inside the wood. The box itself has a nice shine and wood grain look, and is octagonal not a square box. And yes, the printed paw print onto colored printed printer paper is less than could be desired. I would suggest investing in card stock, or asking people at a craft store in Vancouver for tips to make the last (or only) paw print more suitable for framing. I am glad I did get the cement one for that reason. Kat had narrow pointed paws, so hers is a small heart shape bout 5 inches across, 1/4" thick, and her name is pressed into it on the side. The sample one had a hint of purple splashed into the off white clay, whereas ours has smudges of brick red, looking like ketchup smears. My suggestion would be optional color added, and choice of color/s, or plain. While the example one was of a large dog with larger heart, and rainbow curled ribbon, mine is black and white ribbon with black and white paw prints which I happen to like better myself. There was no choice however, if this matters to you. I would suggest they do have options available, since we do not have all the same tastes. I will hang it up on a wooden tree I have next to her mini Christmas stocking, and place her box on the stand in front. It looks nice there. I know after a pet (or human) dies their body changes, but I can tell this is Kat's paw because I pet it so much. To those who said the new paw print does not match the living paw print, I offer them this assurance that as it becomes stiff and water moves though the body, it will distort how the toes lay and may appear more narrow. Now the only reason I am giving low ratings is the bad part: While we were trying to not cry, looking at poem, and card, and paw print, I saw a death certificate. It reads "This certifies that the remains of LUCHO [...] date of passing MAY 10 [...] these are the remains of said pet." My cat is Kat Perfect! NOT "Lucho"! Did they give me someone's dog? This is not my cat? How will I find out? She did have a chip, but I do not see it in the ashes, and she was a tiny cat of 11 lbs, small boned, and there is a LOT of ashes. Did someone else get Kat? Now no matter what they say I have no evidence that I got my pet back, who died in my arms the place we found her years ago when she came to us, on my patio chair. I have no parents, siblings, or close family left, all alone during Covid, and seeking a job too, along with sudden death of my cat and a vet bill of over $6k that never got a definite diagnosis. I really didn't need any "mistakes" or "mix up". This will traumatize me for the rest of my days, and all because the owners didn't take the time to do the job right on her paperwork. So then how can we be sure when we pay for private cremation it is? Trust breaks easy, and isn't easy to get back. My family doesn't even believe in cremation, but I had no options as there are NO PET CEMETERIES in Clark County, WA! (Evergreen Memorial Gardens needs to find space for them, or allow pet burial next to human owners when they pass.) I hope to get the correct certificate soon read more

Peaceful Paws produces lovely memorial products for treasured pets. However, in my experience, their customer service is terrible. They don't respond to inquiries via their website contact field, nor to telephone voice mail messages, much less urgent ones, despite the fact that their website includes a contact phone number for immediate help. Twice now, I have desperately tried to contact them to make final arrangements for my beloved pets. The latest was well over a week in advance of when the services were needed, plus two follow up voice mail messages on the day I lost my little cat. There was no response until many hours later. By that time, I had had no choice but to make arrangements with another service provider because my cat was already dead. Even worse, the other provider's memorial products aren't nearly as nice. So now, not only am I devastated at the loss of my cat, but I'm upset that he didn't get the same quality of memorial that my other deceased cats did. Peaceful Paws has created a beautiful website that indicates caring and consideration for bereaved pet owners. What a cruel joke. Don't count on them to help you when you need them. This is a hard review to post. We had to make a tough decision to say goodbye to our loving cat, Milo. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to use an at-home Euthanasia service so Milo could have a peaceful passing in the comfort of our own home. We used this place when our cat Bear passed. We decided to pay an extra $30 for his paw print, since we did one ourselves, but felt someone "professional" would do a better job. Unfortunately, Yelp won't allow my to upload pictures to this review. But if anyone is in doubt, I'll be happy to provide you the proof. And while I'm no forensic expert, but I think it's pretty obvious that the 2 imprints look NOTHING alike. Worse part, is that they have refused to respond to our email from over a week ago to even discuss the issue. I chose Peaceful Paws because they were comprable price wise to the crematorium I've used previously and from the moment I walked in I was uncomfortable. When I left after drop off, I felt I had made a mistake and upon picking up my pet's remains, I'm furious. Besides returning her ashes to me, the most important thing to me was the imprint and ink print of her paw. It was given to me on a piece of folded computer paper with shitty clip art and really I'm not sure could have been done worse. The clay print had little definition and was definitely smudged, and was either dented or they forced her dewclaw to imprint unnaturally next to her foot. Losing my girl was already traumatic and my experience here has made it worse. The only nice thing was the box her remains came in. I could have done without the corny message emblazoned on it, but the standard wooden box you receive is nicer than basic tins from other places. read more

They did such a beautiful job with our Ronan. Desmond came to get him from our home after he passed, and was so kind-he made everything so easy. When we picked him up, we could not believe how lovely the urn was, and the words of comfort inscribed on it. On a Sunday in December of 2010 we had to take our 17 1/2 yr old cat Ziggy to Columbia River Vet Urgent Care. Sadly she was in a lot of pain so we opted to end her suffering and euthanize her that day. Naturally we just went with whatever service CR used, which just happened to be Peaceful Paws. Our regular vet uses Family Animal Services, my only other experience with pet cremation. Family Animal is wonderful and sweet and I would easily recommend to anyone, but in my experience Peaceful Paws services were a bit above those I experienced at FAS, inspiring not only a review, but a 5 star review. Both services provide a wooden urn and a clay paw print. The difference with PP was that the urn was nicer and included a name plate with our pets name and date. The paw print ornament was also a bit nicer. Both places provided a nice poem. Now it is possible PP went a bit overboard, but they also included a certificate of private cremation, a very nice letter, addiitonal poems, a memorial bracelet (similar to the Breast Cancer etc) and a handful of resources for grief support. In fact, their packet was so full of love and support that it made me cry harder, just from the sense of love and support and compassion. In my opinion, both places I have used are operated by loving, compassionate and kind people who truly care about the pets and their owners. I was just impressed by the slightly higher quality from PP and their prices are comparable. For most of us, losing a pet is like losing a family member, and I was touched by the extra touches provided by Peaceful Paws. I plan at some time to go to their place to look at urns and hope to be able to give them a big hug for all they do! read more

My husband and I lost our little rabbit this last Sunday, and took him to East Padden to get cremated. They took over and brought him to Peaceful Paws. What we got back proved to us that they really respect your pet and care about the process. The clay heart was imprinted and painted, then tied with a bow. The box had a cute engraved plaque and was of good material. They included some grief resources and a couple of poems. We used Peaceful Paws when my dog passed away a couple of years ago, and I was impressed with their compassion and care. When the time came that we needed the same services for my mom's dog, this is the first place we called. The first frustration was that they never returned the first message we left. We called back a few days later and were able to connect. During the appointment, the gentleman was kind and matter of fact, and the appointment was fast. The second frustration came today, upon pick up of the ashes. When they called today to let us know the box was ready, we asked what time we should come by-she specifically said to come by anytime today before 2:30. We showed up at noon, and were met with a locked door and the lights off. There were 2 gentlemen in the office. Finally, one came to the door, pointing at the sign that says by appointment only. My mom tried to explain through the closed door that we had been told to come by anytime. The door was opened, the guy who opened it just walked away. The other guy came out with the bag and had her sign and sent her on her way. That was that. No apology for the crossed wires, nothing. It did not leave us feeling comfortable with the business or transaction in the slightest. This is a very emotional event to go through, and the experience today did not help. I hope that it was just an 'off week' for the business and that others experience more caring and compassion towards their furry companions than we did. read more

Our cat Gary was diagnosed with Liver failure and pancreatitis two months ago and it was unclear if he would survive or not. After almost 2 months of completely normal behavior, he took a turn for the worse overnight. We had made arrangements for an in-home euthanasia and transport to peaceful paws for cremation, however, Gary passed away before the vet could arrive. We called peaceful paws and brought Gary down shortly after he passed away, obviously we were beside ourselves. Vicki at peaceful paws was more than understanding and compassionate. When we handed over Gary to her she held him like a baby and took him to the back. We just brought our boy home today, his urn is beautiful, we received a clay impression of his paw print, an ink print of his paw, a small amount of Gary's fur, a nice note from peaceful paws, and some inspirational/helpful information about grieving for the loss of our pet. They were also extremely fast, we brought Gary in Monday morning and brought him home by Thursday! We are so grateful for the care and compassion shown to both my husband and I, and our beloved Gary. Sadly when you have pets (esp. dogs) you forget how short their wonderful life is until you have to face euthanization. I have had my last 3 dogs cremated and placed in little boxes so they will always be with me whereever I move (as I am somewhat of a wanderlust). Two of my dogs/Pekingese were cremated in the San Francisco Bay Area and the other Pekingese cremated in Orange County, CA. Recently, I had a 4th dog/Pekingese cremated in Vancouver, WA, through the wonderful veterinarians at Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. Despite this being one of the most dreaded times of my life having to make that fateful decision, everyone involved from Columbia River Veterinary Specialists to the cremation done by Peaceful Paws was outstanding. The total process really helped me get through my grieving period. And I can say that Peaceful Paws has the best cremation package of my four experiences.
