Brian answered the phone within two rings nearly every single time out of the 12 million times I called him to update him on the recovery process, ask questions, and toggle the appointment time and date. Brian was so patient, kind and accommodating during the entire process. I was able to get my kitty an appointment very promptly. Brian let me cry and ramble about my girl with no judgement, just understanding and compassion. During the intake meeting I really honestly felt that my kitty was in safe hands, with someone who knows what it's like to love an animal so much and want the care and dignity they deserve to continue on even after they cross the rainbow bridge. Your little companion has an ID disk placed with them during the entire cremation process, in order to make sure that the ashes you get back are your friend's only. So you don't have to worry about accidentally bringing home anyone else, or leaving any of your baby behind. That was a great relief to me. I was only in town for less than a week, and had to drive back to school. Brian made sure my kitty was ready to take home within that week so I would be able to return with her. That meant a lot to me. When I came to pick my kitty up, Brian had made a beautiful wooden frame memento to take along with her new lovely rosewood urn that featured my favorite picture of her. So that I could display her sweet face next to her new resting spot. I would never take my loved pets anywhere else after the exemplary service and compassion I received from Brian. I was in a terrible pinch after saying goodbye to my loved Athena. The place I had planned to take her to after her passing was randomly closed for an employee appreciation event even though when I spoke to them a week prior I was assured I would not need an appointment and walk-ins were fine. Lesson learned, ALWAYS get an appointment if you are pre-planning. So, in a panic and emotionally distraught, not knowing what to do while sitting outside a business that was closed, I started googling pet cremation near me. I got 2 hits with high ratings. Brian was the first to call me back, within about 5 minutes of my call. I spoke with him and explained my situation. He graciously fit me in and I headed out to Washougal. The drive was lovely and gave me some time to reflect on my time with Athena. Once I arrived, Brain greeted myself and my partner with compassion and even apologized for the experience I had, even though he had nothing to do with it. His empathy during all of this was genuine and I could tell that he truly is running a business that cares about his clientele and wants to make the process a smooth as possible. We sat down with Brain and went over all the pricing and options. I didn't feel like he tried to "upsell" me on anything which was nice. Once I had determined what I wanted, we set a date for pickup of Athena's cremains. When I arrived to pick her up everything was all in order just as he promised it would be. To take things one step further, almost exactly one month later, my other beloved pup Archimedes passed at home unexpectedly. I once again called Brain, and he came to the rescue to get us in same day. My sister drove me this time and thankfully so, because there was a random snow event out towards Camas/Washougal. Brain called me while we were in-route and stated that if we were not able to make it to him, he could drive down into Washougal (off the mountain) to meet us and pick Archimedes up. We did end up making it all the way thanks to her 4x4 car but THIS is what it's all about in my opinion. I cannot begin to properly express my gratitude for PALSNW. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Kerry, but I did meet her husband Brian. Chevy was handled with care, respect, dignity, and most importantly, love. I truly believe that Brian and Kerry love each furry family member as their own. I initially called PALSNW, completely distraught, crying and cursing without a care in the world, not even knowing who I was speaking to on the other end of the line. (Brian, I apologize for the F bombs.) I know that the death industry has a lot of flaws and that the decedents, whether human or otherwise, are not always treated as we would like. I expressed that in my call. Instead of being met with hostility or judgment (or like I didn't know what I was talking about), my concerns were addressed and validated and I learned the story of Rook and the beginning of PALSNW. (Brian will surely tell you about Rook, but I definitely recommend asking about the story if you are questioning anything.) We scheduled an appointment and my preteen daughter and I showed up with Chevy. Though the initial call was beyond comforting, I still had my doubts with my (limited) previous experiences with after life care for pets. Brian met me at my car (socially distanced, at that.) and after greeting me asked how he could help. I didn't really have the words to express how I was feeling, but definitely put myself between Chevy and Brian and tearfully let him know that I was not ready to hand him over. Brian was totally understanding and led me to the meeting room of the crematorium. The room is warm and comforting, and Rook is there in his beautiful urn along with examples of their different offerings. Rook was a gorgeous dog, too. He was clearly loved and I am thankful that he inspired this business. I think the most important part of this for those who might be looking for services for their fluffy family members is that this NEVER felt like a cash grab. I was never pressured into any upgrades. What Brian explained during my initial call was EXACTLY what was placed in front of me. Brian waited for ME to be ready to get Chevy out of the car. When I was ready, he asked if I would like him to bring him in. I was probably pretty stern, being less than 12 hours out from Chevy's death, but Brian stood back and let me do what I needed to do. Before I brought him in, he asked if I needed time with Chev. I told him "no, Chev is gone. I held him for 4 hours after he died. He is gone." and went and got him from the car. As it turns out, I did need time. I brought him in and placed him on the table (it is a rolling table with a beautiful drape) and removed the blanket from the top of the box. I saw Chev lying there and needed one last pet (and one more, and one more, and 100 more.) Brian stood back and let me take my time to talk with Chev and tell him jokes. I told him to come back as a ghost cat and visit (Brian, I heard you giggle and that was so nice. Comedy is the best therapy. I was so glad you appreciated that.) I probably stood there and pet him a thousand more times before I decided to walk out. The trust was built. And that night, I slept. I knew he was in good hands. To my surprise, less than 24 hours later, Brian personally text me and told me that Chevy was ready to go home. I had this weird feeling of anxiety, excitement, and sadness. We were able to pick Chevy up 27 and a half hours after we dropped him off. (I am sure that time frame fluctuates.) Again, at pickup we had an amazing conversation and were treated with the utmost respect. When I opened the box and was looking at everything, Brian saw a beautiful rainbow appear. I know that was Chev crossing The Rainbow Bridge. We all stepped out to admire it and even Brian took pictures. It was beautiful and soothing. When we left I mentioned to my daughter that the rainbow was gone and Brian said "I think you're holding it in your hands." I was. I totally was. And on top of all of that, the drive up there is gorgeous. If you can, take the time to stop and sit by the river. Thank you, PALSNW. read more

We lost our sweet cat Roscoe unexpectedly without much warning. We were left stunned and grieving in the middle of the night, wondering what we were supposed to do. I came to Yelp and looked at a few reviews. Quite honestly, I don't remember sending the message, but I'm so glad I did. Brian sent a message, we talked over the phone, and made an appointment for that afternoon. The secluded location is perfect. You can cry your eyes out (as we did) and there's no one to look at you, no one to judge you, or ask questions. You can focus on saying goodbye in peace. The best part was Brian, who is one of the most patient and kindest person's I've ever met. He listened patiently as I rambled on (grief makes you exhausted and I hadn't slept much in the past 48 hours as I watched over Roscoe as he slowly slipped away). We knew Roscoe was an older cat with health issues when we adopted him, but he literally chose us at the shelter. He walked over to me, sat down, looked at me, and his eyes told me "Let's go!" - and so we did. We knew we wouldn't get to spend as much time with Roscoe as we will with his little brother (adopted as a kitten), but we had hoped to get to spend a few more years with him. That was not to be - it was his time to go. It just happened so fast and so out of the blue that we're still dealing with the shock.
