I have been doing Yoga at my gym for months, with the aid of a friend, Chris, who helped me learn…read moremost of the positions. When he invited me to finally attend a 6am class at Bikram Yoga of Bayport, I thought no sweat! But I would find out later, sweat I would be doing. I got there with my gym partner at about 5:30am and the parking lot was completely empty. We met up with another gym friend, Sheri, who also got there early. Rachel the instructor, also a friend, invited us in and went over the pricing. Rachel also gave great tips and advice since it was my first time. I walked into the room and couldn't believe how hot it was. I thought it must have been a mistake! It was hotter inside that room then it was outside. My friend, Sheri, was already in the room comfortable and stretching. She recommended that I do it also to get use to the heat and so I did. Class didn't even start and I was sweating. The guy that invited me, Chris, showed up and he looked like a professional. I didn't know what attire to wear or even what I was doing. I asked him a lot of questions before class started and he explained everything well, as he always does. Finally Rachel walked in and class started. Let me say I have worked out in a gym for years. I have never sweated in a gym like I did 20 minutes in that class. The class we were taking is called "Vinyasa," it is more complete movements and is continuous. Rachel was a wonderful instructor, she had a calming tone in her voice and explained every movement so carefully. Rachel had a very soft music on that helped me focus along with the breathing exercises she went over. I almost gave up many times but I pushed on. I knew every drop of sweat that hit my Mat was weakness leaving my body. I made it through 90 precent of the class before fatigue finally came over me. I was done. I laid there happy to get as fair as I did. After class everyone walks out the room when they were ready, no rush, you can leave when you feel satisfied. There is a locker room you can use or just leave. I stayed behind to talk with my friends. I felt incredible after the class. My body felt loose and I had no tightness in my back. Once again I expressed my excitement for the class and for Rachel as a instructor. I plan to make this a regular part of my life. I hope everyone incorporates Yoga to their lives.

Ann Marie is such a warm, engaging, easy-going person and she sets the tone for the studio. It is a relaxing, welcoming space and I instantly remembered how much better it is to practice in a studio versus having a home practice. Ann Marie is extremely knowledgable about yoga and how the human body works. She works hard to make sure that everyone is using what props they need to benefit from the practice given their individual bodies. She does a fantastic job of pacing her instruction. I came to her business with 2 plates as well as screws in my neck and 2 bars in the back of my neck. Melissa was wonderful. she worked with me and was so patient during my struggles. There were times where I just couldn't make it because I was sick or I was just struggling with my injuries because they were that bad. Melissa understood this and explained that investing in yourself takes commitment, so she created a package for me that me and my body could handle. I had already paid for a $800+ package so I sucked it up ‍. Fast forward after traveling for work, I cannot book my classes when I should've around 18 left. She states my classes have expired. I start to mention I thought they didn't expire, which is why I signed up... she cuts me off immediately defensively saying all packages expire and bla bla bla. Essentially robbing me $400. As someone with a busy schedule, I wouldn't have paid 800 dollars for something that can expire. I thought small businesses were supposed to be friendly, welcoming people. I didn't argue because it's not worth it, she calls me 10 mins later and says she would give me the remaining classes if I pay for 10 more I tried so hard to like this place because it's 5 mins from my house

I used to do five days a week in the gym but constantly felt beaten up with lots of aches and pains. Slowly I transitioned away from the gym and replaced it with 5 sessions a week with Yoga. Yoga is a much, much better workout!!! All of the Root instructors teach different variations of yoga and therefore you can customize your program to meet your specific needs. I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experiences at Yogaflex studio,…read morespecifically relating to the conduct of instructor/owner Dana. During my classes, I have observed Dana frequently raising her voice at students and managing the class in a manner that feels more akin to running a deli counter than fostering a supportive yoga environment. This approach creates an atmosphere of discomfort rather than one of peace and relaxation, which is essential for yoga practice. Additionally, I have witnessed a teacher putting students on the spot, particularly regarding poses she struggles with herself. This not only undermines the students' confidence but also detracts from the overall experience. Or another teacher yelling at a student for throwing a dirty tissue in a freshly bagged wastebasket. Or once she kicked me into place with her foot instead of physically adjusting me. It was very disrespectful. I saw Dana berate a student for several minutes simply for having the wrong leg in a pose. Even after the student adjusted correctly, Dana continued to criticize them, stating that they shouldn't take her class if they couldn't follow her instructions. This went on and on and on. This level of control and negativity is not conducive to a positive learning environment. After expressing my dissatisfaction with the class, I unfortunately overheard Dana using inappropriate language while walking around the studio, suggesting that students should leave if they have complaints about her teaching style and she doesn't "put up with shit." This response is deeply troubling and does not reflect the supportive community one would hope to find in a yoga studio, which should be a. Safe space for everyone. Maybe the person didn't speak English well? I left the class feeling so angry and upset for the student. My nervous system was completely thrown. I believe constructive feedback is crucial for growth, and I hope this message serves as an opportunity for reflection on the studio's teaching methods and the behavior or the owners. It is vital for students to feel respected and supported in their practice and that yoga instructors be held account for bad behavior in order to provide a safe space for all. As she was leaving the class said she might need to do something else, agreed.
