When I asked Cody he straightforwardly quoted me a very fair price for the service and honored that price.

Many companies told me I needed annual service contracts, full house treatments, indoor and outdoor treatments. All of this ignored the specifics of my issue. The arrived and quickly identified my issue and saw that what I was doing was treating it fine. There was only one additional thing for me to do, which they educated me to do. They told me there was no need to spray chemicals; no treatment was required. They were here maybe 5 minutes. They told me this was essentially a consultation. There would be no charge. Talk about a surprise! I could easily see a fee for showing up (like plumbers), but they were gracious. They said genuinely, they just provided me with some information. If I get frustrated with my efforts, there is a path they can take, but it's certainly not necessary now. They have gained a customer! Even though I'm not officially using their services right now.

Found the point of entry and closed it off for me. 2 weeks in, no more mice. Thank you so very much for your great work. We are not going to continue with the current pest control co. We are going to hire them to do all of our pest control from this point on.

Prior to selling our last home, a general inspector reported that there were termites. I found Heavenly Pest Solutions through Yelp and called Russell. He explained why the first inspector was wrong--our home did not, in fact have termites. But he knew that we still needed proof of treatment in order to address the issue. He treated the supposedly affected area for a very affordable price. Fast-forward to our new home several months later. We actually discovered termites that were *not* reported by our inspector. I called Russell and he came by the next day, treated the location as well as the entire exterior of our home. But now for the Pièce De Résistance: it's a Saturday night, 6pm, the evening before Easter, about a month after our treatment. "Swarmer" termites start spilling out of our stairway by the hundreds. I call & text Russell. He replies immediately, explaining that these are essentially 'scouts' whose life will end soon because of our previous treatment. But he could sense the stress on my end of the phone. He came to our home at 7pm the night before Easter, and did an extensive treatment of the affected area. He re-explained that this was not uncommon as the colony dies off...the swarmers that are still alive are looking for a new home but are already going to die because of our earlier treatment. But even beyond that, several days later, purely to reassure us, somewhat shaken by having termites in our new home, he revisited with two of his colleagues. They checked several spots in the walls with a camera, confirming that there was no activity. My wife and I got additional education on the habits of how termites travel throughout a home, and are eradicated as well. Russell has earned my loyalty as a customer through his genuine concern that my family feels safe and snug in our home. He's proven that by going the extra mile on multiple occasions. I know I won't need to call him anytime soon for our termite issue, but woe to any other pests who dare cross the threshold of our home: your days are numbered, thanks to Russell and Heavenly Pest Solutions. :)

Okay, reducing to 1 star based on the ridiculous response by the owner…read more (1) He said I'm bringing up the rat problem 2 years after his sealing work, and well past the 1-year warranty mark. In fact, I notified him of the rats returning SIX MONTHS after his sealing work (and he didn't reply). I attached a screenshot of my text message to this review to prove it. Did the rats overcome his exclusion methods, or did they survive for six months in the attic w/o food or water and then migrate to where I could hear them? The former seems more likely, but we'll never know, because, as I said, he didn't deign to reply when I asked him about it. Which also means, the warranty is useless if he doesn't actually honor it. (2) He said he "got rid of rats". He did not. He did only the sealing, I caught the rats myself, as per our agreement. (Then six months later, well within the guarantee period, I heard more rat activity.) (3) He said that I "let my warranty expire", putting the blame on me. Not true. First, I contacted him *within* the warranty period, and he didn't reply. Second, he never billed me for the warranty renewal when the time came up. Third, I contacted him again, after the initial warranty period, asking how to continue the warranty (e.g., pay a re-inspection fee plus the warranty extension?), but yet again, he didn't reply. So, it was impossible for me to renew my warranty, because he flat-up ghosted me. (4) I didn't "give a bad review because we won't coach him on doing an enclosure for his rental property", it was because, in part, he didn't REPLY to my repeated inquiries about that (as well as his not responding to my message about rats returning within the supposed warranty period). Multiple other contractors have been happy to take my money to provide some education and training about their trades, and if Matt didn't want to do that, that's certainly his call, and he could have said simply so. But he didn't, instead he just blew me off. (5) It's rare that you see a business owner insult his customers (e.g., "This guy has no life." WTF?!) It's funny because had he made a normal, customer-focused response, he might not have lost any business, but now he definitely will. Who wants to hire someone who's so contemptuous of anyone who dares to relay their bad experience with the contractor? (6) He says "As a customer he gets a no-star rating." So exactly what was my transgression here? Trying to report that rats returned within the first-year warranty period? Asking if I could hire him for additional work? Trying to contact him multiple times and getting no response, *before* posting online that I tried to contact him multiple times and got no response? Yeah, I'm a real jerk that way. If Matt doesn't want bad reviews, he might consider replying to his customers when they make inquiries to him, and then not blaming the customer when they point out that he wouldn't respond to their messages.

He comes back every year and checks to make sure everything is still sealed up tight against critters. I'm having my roof and gutters re-done in a couple of weeks (thank you Central Texas weather...) and I will be having Matt come out again to make sure everything is still sealed up once those folks are finished! Hire Matt as your Critter Guy - he knows his stuff! And he is my hero!! I am terrified of snakes, and when I saw a rat snake slithering around the bushes in my front yard I was OK until I went online to positively ID it. One of the pictures was a rat snake coiled up, mouth open, just SCARY looking, and I kind of lost it. When I left a voicemail for Matt telling him I needed to get on his schedule to check and make sure the house was still sealed up it was apparently pretty obvious how upset I was (I really did try and be calm...). Matt said as soon as he heard my voice mail he knew he needed to come help me! He stopped on his way from one job to another, removed Mr./Mrs. Rat Snake from my yard and checked the roof to be sure there was no way any of his/her friends could get inside.

The response I received from the owner, Steve, was shocking to say the least. I myself am a business owner that deals with customer service on a daily basis. I will admit that there are certain complaints that I may not necessarily agree with, but I always listen and validate my customers concerns with dignity and respect. The vacuum just stopped working Sunday, so not the absolute problem. Ariel I appreciate you contacting us about this, but you went from "considering" to canceling" in the same email without giving us a chance to explain.  First, that you for your business in the past and changing companies is obviously your decision to make. Blake is an excellent tech and does not take short cuts like skipping chemical measurement. We don't charge for the amount of time spent at a pool. Rather we charge for the job. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes to an hour, but more often it tale 10-15 minutes provided the pool has been properly maintained previously. Filter pressure varies by filter type as well as how dirty/clean the filter is. While your filter may read 10 directly after a cleaning the pressure will rise as the filter collects contaminents.  The presence of algae would suggest that it is time for a filter cleaning, but it could also be the result of less than optimal circulation. As Blake is paid extra for filter cleaning I am certain he would jump at the chance to make extra money by cleaning yours if needed. You mentioned your pool sweeper is broken and that is a pivotal component of pool maintenance as it not only scrubs walls and steps between services it also helps circulate water especially from the floor of the pool.  Unless we hear otherwise from you we will stop your pool service at end of day today. All the best! Steve Hunt This is an unexpected response from a business owner as I am one myself. Your response gives the tone that none of our complaints are valid and that we are in the wrong and need to not voice our concerns. Very eye opening to why the pool service is lacking professionalism.  Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone Sorry you feel that way, but I'm not sure what you want to hear. I read your concerns and addressed them. I am not sorry that my technician did his job and you did not heed the advice given not only by Blake, but by me as well, to keep toys out of the pool when it is not in use because it might damage your vacuum. Now your vacuum is broken and you are blaming us for your pool not getting the proper cleaning that the vacuum should handle. If you cowtow to your customers for the sake of a dollar that is your business. I'm backing my people when they have done nothing wrong. We have great reviews that state clearly how well we do our jobs. I have canceled your pest service as well.  Steve Hunt On a side note, a simple amicable response validating my concerns, without accusatory and disrespectful behavior would have gone a long way. I don't know exactly what the comment about catering to customers for a dollar is supposed to reference as I never brought up any concerns about money.  All I was hoping to do was inform you about concerns I had with my service.  That was an incredibly quick jump to being hateful. I'm not sure where that came from as we have always been able to communicate well together, but all is well.  Wish you all the best and hope your day gets better.  Ariel There is no hostility. I hold no grudge. You are free to spend your money where you choose just not with us with the exception of your April invoice which is still outstanding and will have a late charge added to it if not paid by the end of the month.  When you write your review be sure to include the part where I explained the situation, but that wasnt good enough for you because I will in my response. Further, be sure to review your pool service as you have had no issues with pest control. Otherwise I will be forced to contact the review service to have the review removed. Enjoy the rest of your week. -- All the best! Steve Hunt
